   I really enjoy Himmels and have been there at least three times now. My chicken schnitzel was very good and it was a generous portion. My mom really enjoyed her rahmschnitzel (sp?) too. My husband thought the salmon was a bit undercooked, and not as good as usual. My niece was served the wrong pizza - not the one she ordered - but they took care of that. Then, she ordered a brownie and I think she was a little disappointed with it, not enough chocolate? I thought it was fine, though. All in all, it was a good experience and I expect to be coming back, next time I’m in town. Reservation was in Dale’s name, but review by Vita.

   I took my sales team to this excellent restaurant mainly because I really like the name! Ha ha It’s a real shame about the current mess that Chicago is involved with but if this place is still open and not affected by problems associated with crime. I would definitely recommend having a nice Wiener schnitzel or sauerbraten. I lived in Vienna for 10 years and the schnitzel will hold its own against any wienerish gasthause. Please stay safe and a tip of my hat to the very entertaining accordion player. He was fantastic!

   Always a fantastic meal at Himmel's. You can't go wrong with any of the chicken or veal entrees and the pizza us delicious.

   We went to Himmel’s on a Sunday to celebrate a birthday. The server was first-rate, extremely attentive, cheerful, and warm for our party of 9. the food is made-to-order, so it takes some time for it to get to the table, but it is well worth it. The chicken schnitzel platter is enough for at least two people. If German food is not your thing, the wood-burning oven will give you a perfectly cooked pizza. Our server recommended a hot German brandy rum drink that was perfect for a snowy Chicago day. We hung out for 2 hours and just truly enjoyed ourselves.

   Well, we have been coming to Himmel for many years and have always had a good meal and service. This time was an exception: food was dropped at the table in no particular order and it was lukewarm, the service was not that good - not a pleasant experience overall. That said, I am hoping this was just an aberration and will give it another try.

   I probably would recommend solely based on food/drinks, just not on New Year's Eve. Prices went up 33%, staff seemed in a rush to get people out and although the live music was nice, the place was really loud. I made a reservation, but we got seated by the bathrooms and a (cute but) very loud train that overpowered the live music, while half the restaurant was empty. The groups that attended made up for that though... the Riesling was amazing, the chicken schnitzel was great. Cranberry sauce would have made it even better.

   We went with a group of 10 friends and tried a wide variety of dishes and it was wonderful! The atmosphere was full of Christmas cheer, live music, decorations and fabulous service. I want to go back with my family so they can experience the fun.

    The food, atmosphere and service here are exemplary. There is a friendly, family vibe that makes you feel at home--you cannot do better in terms of food, either. I cannot say enough about this gem.
