We have dined here many times and usually the food is very good. On this visit the salads were excellent and I had the meatball appetizer which was great. My husband had the shrimp parm special that was small, dry and had little sauce and no cheese. He was very disappointed and no one ever came by to check on us.

Fun atmosphere. Service was mediocre. Appetizers were all good but the entrees were again all pedestrian. The signature chicken Parmesan was average and expected, nothing outstanding as promised. Cod special was very good. The black linguine lacked the deep flavor we hoped to see. The dinner was our families getting together and we laughed and talked and had a great time together in a classic New York neighborhood Italian restaurant setting. The dinner itself just was not the star of the show.

Great food at an incredibly reasonable price. Great sangria ($7!) was a steal as well. We had the black linguine, Orecchiette Foresta, and a few more. All were spot on.

While I was looking for a "traditional" Italian restaurant in NYC, I thought I had found it. However, when we entered we knew this would not be Grandma's Italian cuisine. But we were certainly not disappointed. From the calamari, to the salads to the chicken parmesean and the "black" pasta, everything we prepared to perfection. It was a nice surprise. Good prices, friendly service, and we were not rushed. Some reviews have mentioned smaller portions but neither of us could finish our entrees. Highly recommended!

The food and service were good and it was an overall enjoyable meal. We sat in the downstairs section where it was dimly lit with somewhat loud euro-pop music (geared more to an early 30-something crowd). They were incredibly considerate and open to turning it down slightly when we asked, which pretty much sums up how they make a real effort to have you enjoy the experience.

Good wines and the food has always been excellent here, however the portion sizes are smaller than they used to be. When it is $15 for a single crab cake ($5 surcharge on this appetizer), it would be nice if it were decent sized.

Pescatore is a great restaurant so I was pleased to take a friend there. I made a reservation but when I arrived we were told that they just started renovations that day and the only seating was outside. It was too cold to sit outside. This was handled very poorly. It's not like the renovations appeared out of the blue, so they should have not made the tables available. Luckily there are many options in the neighborhood. Also since I live across the street, I was not too inconvenienced; but it would have have been unacceptable if someone had traveled just to go to pescatore.

We had to change our reservation via Open Table from 8 to 8:30 PM at 7:30 PM when we realized we would not make it. We arrived at exactly 8:25 PM and our table was ready. Service was attentive. Our courses were perfectly timed. Food was very good: beet salad special, baby field green). The only reason for a four star on food is due to a little too much vinegar on the baby field greens. We shared the fried calamari which was cooked to perfection (calamari was fresh and not chewy at all). We then decided to have authentic Italian dishes such as spaghetti carbonara and the chicken parmigiano. We were not disappointed. Overall, it was a great dining experience and we will go back and try some of the other dishes.

The food here was okay. The menu is relatively limited, but again everything was okay. I had chicken parmesan and pasta, with an appetizer of mussels and everything was satisfying -- appropriate for the price. The help, however is particularly good, as was the general manager on duty that night. They did everything to be accommodating. Nice to have this type of attention still in Manhattan.

We had chicken carcioffi and parmesan. It was nicely done. The service was very good. The place is nice but it has monochrome zebras painted on the wall which could be replaced by something more artsy. For dessert I had tartuffo which was very good. It is a nice place to have dinner or lunch if you are in the area.

I We came across Pescatore because it was close to our hotel and decided to give it a try. The atmosphere is that of a local, storefront, Italian bistro. The service was friendly and the timing of the courses was perfect. The menu is standard Italian classics which, most importantly, were well prepared. I really appreciated the the ability to order 1/2 portions of the pasta dishes for my main course as the full portions are quite large. If you're looking for a reasonably priced, good Italian restaurant - this is it.

The wine and cocktails are wonderful. The wait staff super professional and kind. The whole vibe is just great, relaxing, full of energy, and just a great place to be calm and enjoy the surrounds. The food was very good. The restaurant has a low ceiling. The restaurant was full of diners who appeared to be conversing in the din. My guess was that they were from the neighborhood and knew what they were getting into. There is no acoustical tiling on the ceiling and the noise level was unbearable but many diners in NYC seem to consider that normal. I carry earplugs but forgot to use them.

Was there for lunch - Service was very good - waiter was attentive, water glass was never empty. The place was very dark, probably too dark for lunch but probably good for dinner service. The branzino dish was very good but the lobster with fettuccine was a bit disappointing - we were expecting to see big chunks of lobster that had some resemblance of lobster (a claw or a tail) but the lobster was all chopped up and mixed with the fettuccine The meatball appetizer was really good but the mushroom risotto/rice balls was okay (a bit too crispy/overdone). The hazelnut & salted caramel gelato was excellent (creamy and flavorful). Overall I must say that the service was better than the food - as the food was hit or miss.

My friends all enjoyed their seafood dishes. I ordered the NY strip steak at medium, but it was well done; and I wished that the chef had trimmed more fat off. We shared meatball appertizers which were good. The waitress, host, bus people were all attentive. The drinks were fine; and the bottle of champagne was perfectly chilled and tasted great. Overall our dinner was good, not great. Also, it was just a tad bit noisy even though we had the entire back area. It's a convenient, local place for some Italian seafood.

I went here for an early dinner with my 10 year old daughter. However, the restaurant was packed and very noisy. The menu looked good though so we stayed and ordered. My fish main course was awful. There was a creamy cauliflower sauce with the fish and it really tasted awful. I felt unwell afterwards. The dish really wasn't what I expected given the description on the menu. I won't be going here on my desk visit to the city.
