Our server was excellent. The menu selections were limited. I ate the short ribs. It look like they had been city prior to being served. They did not have that fresh from the kitchen look. The food was tasty although it was not hot. The location is excellent for pre-theatre.
Great venue for a pre-show dinner. Excellent service. Cool atmosphere.
We thought it would be wonderful to dine right at the concert venue and Niko was far beyond our expectations. The ambiance is breathtaking, service impeccable and food outstanding. Our server Brittany deserves a five star rating and every other member of the wait staff interacted with us in a positive manner, smiles on every face, asking if we needed anything, how we were enjoying the food, holding doors open for us, etc. This was a very positive experience and, of course, management is accountable for this so we have now decided to become contributing members of NJPAC thanks to Niko.
Excellent service by Jasmine and the entire staff at Nico! Very attentive and courteous. Relaxing pace of dinner while timing getting to our theater event perfectly.
Ceasar salad was great. Crab cakes no good. Brussel sprouts were good. Salmon was bland and had no flavor. Chocolate parfait for dessert was mediocre. Bread pudding was cold. Ice cream on top did not melt. Food was served quickly, which was great. However, for the quality of the fixed meal, it was overpriced. Beer served from draft was flat.
Nico is perfect for a pre-concert prix fixe! Not only convenient, but terrific food and great, attentive, cheerful service.
We had dinner before a sold-out concert and I'm glad we did. The parking, restaurant, and performance venue were all a few steps apart. Unfortunately, Nicco has deteriorated. The Prix-Fixe pre-theater menu is limited and the food we had was poorly executed. The menu was fairly priced on paper, but not for the actual items on the plate. We had salad, an order of shrimp with pasta, an order of beef short ribs, and deserts. All mediocre. We each had a glass of a presentable New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc. We paid about $122 before the tip.
We believe the convenience makes it a place to consider if you have tickets at NJPAC. Our advice: eat in the large back dining room, not the very noisy bar. Order the most uncomplicated food you can find.
Curb your enthusiasm.
How can you mess up Caeser salad? I should have known that the rest of the meal would be bad as well. I order the pre fixed menu since it was the only option before a show. It is quite apparent that this place is trying to save money because there was no dressing on the salad, the shrimp dish had 4 tiny shrimp and was tasteless. The bread pudding was the best part of the meal. Not worth the money. Never again!
3 course dinner is good value, salad and dessert were very good. Salmon and shrimp mains were tasteless
recommended only because its in the NJ PAC and you can perk one time for dinner and show
if you have time go somewhere else
The food has been better. My friends and I have been eating there for years. Of course, there have been many changes. The service is generally good, but the food was on the lack of taste side during lunch this past week.
Love eating here, food always good. Lots of choices.
If you ever visit NJPAC for a show, NICO is a MUST to stop in and dine before or after the show!! Everything we ordered was beyond delicious! The staff was incredibly accommodating and never left a glass empty. The restaurant had a very warm and inviting ambiance with beautiful lighting and soothing background music. Looking forward to our next visit!!
We were there for the NJ Symphony and Harry Potter movie. It is convenient and I have enjoyed my meal both times I have come to this restaurant.
Everything was very good. I would have appreciated a coffee refill. Jasmine was fun and attentive.
We thought the restaurant cuisine was outstanding and creative, and GF options were noted.
We really thought the service was great too.
The food was amazing! We tried so many different options since they all looked so good. My favorite was the salmon with fresh vegetables. It was light and refreshing but filling at the same time. The brussel sprouts were also amazing! We tried almost all of the dessert option - our favorite was the bread pudding with vanilla gelato - although they were all delicious. We were attending a concert and stopped by Nico for a drink before hand and dinner afterward. The staff were very attentive and accommodating. We will definitely be coming back!
Wonderful lunch before a 2pm show. Went with my tween daughter and she loved it! Menu was small but had a nice variety of items. Couldn’t ask for a more attentive and courteous staff. Can’t wait to go back!
Very good lunch. Turkey club was delicious. Great place for a lunch meeting, service was quick and not overbearing.
I was at the PAC for a Poetry Festival
NICO was perfect - gnocchi was light not heavy - my red wine was meaty - I was left alone with my book. Service was available / friendly - non intrusive.
The server was not very attentive, we had to ask for water refills.
The service was awesome and attentive without being obnoxious. The entrees were a good size, but not enormous, and the food was delicious and appealing. I would definitely go back.
Salmon was overcooked and smelled very fishy, seemed frozen - had to return it
Conveniently located at the NJPAC so you can eat and have a cocktail before a show without having to leave the center. We weren't rushed.
Commercial food, expected better. Entrée served cold had to be reheated. Acoustics not very good. Noisy.
We were amazed at how professional and friendly the entire staff was. It was a very enjoyable experience. The food was good, the wine was good. They gave a good pour with the wine. They were so attentive. We were in Newark for a concert and said we wished we could move this place to where we live. Although everyone was great I would like to give a special call out to Sema who was our main waitress. Steve, the assistant restaurant manager came to our table to see how everything was also. I will choose to go here anytime I am in Newark for something.
I find the food acceptable but not extraordinary for the prices charged. The service is inconsistent.
Very unprofessional reception upon arrival, cocktails arrived after salads, no offer of wine, very poor timing of courses, no bread was served—had to request it, candle was not lit, inattentive wait staff
Had dinner with my wife before a show at NJPAC. Spectacular food. Grilled salmon spot on and vegan Thai noodle bowl excellent. Desserts were amazing. Everything fresh and wonderfully prepared and presented. Sapphire was our waitress and she rocked! The rest of the wait staff were friendly, efficient and helpful. Definitely recommend. Note that pre-show, they only offer a three course prix fixe menu with about a half dozen choices.
disappointing on every measurable point...food, service, atmosphere, felt like I was at an Elk's Lodge banquet with a need for speed and uniformity of plate, I get it people want to be on time for their show but that doesn't mean the food has to be tasteless and sad or that the staff should amp up the anxiety by not delivering what has been ordered, in our case bottled water and wine. As much as I love NJPAC I'll eat at home next time and skip dinner out to avoid starting date night off on such a sad note
We were attending a show at the Performing Arts Center; it's perfect for an easy and convenient location. The food was surprisingly great! The three course pre-show menu offered plenty of variety and each course was excellent! The service was exceptional as well; Jasmine our main server was so pleasant and made us feel so welcome and took such great care of us. Nelson was also excellent in making us feel right at home. The venue atmosphere was laid back but great for a date night as well. We would recommend this place for a pre-show dinner out for sure! Can't beat it!
Food was very good service was poor waitress forgot to put in one of our snacks and it came out with the entrees, manager was very nice And said he gave us a discount, waitress never came back to ask us if we need anything else.
Food was literally terrible. Manager handled it very well. All entrees had to be sent back as well as two appetizers. They comped what didn’t come out well and gave us some drinks on the house. I commend them for their service but their food needs a lot of work.
We very much enjoyed our dinner at Nico's. Great service and food, really a fun place to go before an NJPAC event. The food was very good - some dishes were not super star quality - but were all very good. The drinks were amazing, I must say as were the desserts. I had the gnocci and shrimp and it was memorable!
Friendly staff and great service. Excellent option before a show at NJPAC.
The food was very good. Our waitress, Cher, was outstanding. Very attentive and accommodating.
We had a lovely meal at Nico. The menu was limited and there was almost nobody there because the show we came to see at NJPAC had been rescheduled. Mia, our server, was wonderful and very friendly. Our entrees were very good and my braised short ribs were delicious.
Great place to go for a bite and a drink before a show at NJPAC. service was very good and server very nice.
Had a very enjoyable dinner: wonderful prix fixe menu with something for everyone. Shrimp with gnocchi was delicious. Going back in a few weeks.
Ate dinner at Nico because it was nice that it's beside NJPAC. We were not rushing and it was excellent service , and food.
Order is slow to come out. Though they gave us a 10% discount, it is still not worth the buck. Even the check is slow to get.
