Central Michel Richard
Sunday: 11:00am - 2:30 pm
Still stellar. Brian Zimin leads a superb team who expertly serve outstanding cuisine that never fails to impress us. Bring your visiting friends like we do and they’ll leave DC knowing our food culture, who’s ascendance was led by Michel Richard, equals any in the USA. Thanks, Brian, we’re lucky to have Central Michel Richard to enjoy again and again.
Great place for a non-pretentious Sunday brunch. Impeccable French toast. Shrimp and grits. That SHRIMP AND FLIPPIN' GRITS! I'm still in awe.
Our experience lived up to the restaurant's reputation. Excellent service and attention to detail. Wonderful food and lively atmosphere. Can't wait to go back!
Creative!! Splendid food served elegantly. Our server was excellent and timely with everything. It is our favorite go-to restaurant in downtown DC
We love this place and it is always on the top 5 go tos for us.
Service is always great.
Central never disappoints. We had some friends in from Boston and they assumed that DC didn't have the quality of restaurants that they do up East... We wanted to have a casual but high end food establishment and were late getting reservations but Central was available. They loved it.. the crab cake gumbo got rave reviews...I had the scallops which were cooked to perfection...and our anti-seafood friend got the fried chicken..all was spectacular....the cheese puffs were my favorite.
I've been going to Central since it opened and I've never had a bad meal. The outside seating is fun in the Spring/Summer months.
My husband and I had tickets to the Warner Theater and searched for a convenient place to grab dinner beforehand. CMR didn't disappoint! I made 6 pm reservations online and noted we had an 8 pm show. Our waiter was very conscientious of this and we were out by 7:30 pm. We did the prix fixe menu and both options of the fried chicken and the meatloaf - delicious! Also, their cosmo was one of the best I've had in a long time. We will definitely go there again.
Overall, the food was great. We liked the shrimp risotto and mini crab croquettes, and loved Michel's chocolate bar!
Saturday, after the Beetlejuice matinee; this was our first visit to Central, but so convenient to the National Theatre, we will have to come again! We were early, and as we sat there, the restaurant started to fill up with folks clearly going to the same theatre's evening performance... service was brisk and professional, the staff aware that it was necessary to get people served in a timely manner, but not make them feel rushed.
Plenty of dishes on the menu we'd like to try, to be saved for next time!
Such attentive service from the minute we were greeted to our wonderful server. Food was delicious and well priced. Great pre-theatre dinner spot.
Our server Stephane was very attentive and made my birthday celebration very special.
Pretheatre prix menu is great! Excellent food and value.
Food remains consistently good. The fried chicken and buttery mashed potatoes are so delicious! The pre theater menu is a great deal.
Always reliable. Had pasta bolognese before and loved it, this time it disappointed. My lunch friend liked his food so all good.
I’ve always loved Central, but I feel there is a diminishment in its over quality. The tuna was dry, the salad under flavored, the service a bit lackluster...I might try it again, especially for lunch, but ...
I went for brunch and it was an overall amazing experience. The brunch is a 3-course meal for $28 and you can add bottomless mimosas for $15. Our waiter, Boris very nice and pleasant and made great food recommendations. The shrimps and grits were amazing, the pancakes were massive and the chocolate bar was great to close things out. I plan on going back often
Central has been a go to restaurant for theatre over the years. It always is on spot. This trip tried the burger and skirt steak. Both excellent and cooked perfectly as ordered. Service great. Food great. Thanks Central.
Food was excellent - very interesting menu with a wide variety of choices. The service was excellent. Thoroughly enjoyed the meal. My only "complaint" was the noise level - we were seated in the back towards the kitchen, which made conversations a little difficult. But otherwise, I'd definitely recommend it and definitely will go back when we have the opportunity.
Beautifully prepared and amazingly delicious comfort food!
The Shrimp burger wasn’t good. Missed the Lobster Burger. Fried chicken was a crispy chicken delight!
Excellent service and food. Unique and creative dishes, drinks and desserts. Service was near perfect.
Only downsides , tables packed a little tighter than comfortable. Noise level was loud. Prices were to be expected for the quality level, though the sizes of the entrees, could have been a little bigger. Overall, an excellent experience in dining. Come for the food, it’s well worth it, even with a less than perfect atmosphere
Food was excellent, table was perfect (by the kitchen) and service was perfect!
Enjoyed the food, service, and experience of downtown DC.
Really appreciated the quick service in getting us finished in time to see our concert.
We had two vegans with us and they liked the entre. It would be nice to have another vegan entre but especially nice to have a vegan appetizer
Can't think of a better downtown choice for lunch or dinner. Food, service and ambience are all superb.
Lunch service has been slow lately. It took nearly 1.5 hours
Great brunch, both food and service! Selections of food were very accommodating !
We went to Central before an event. They were able to give us great service. Not to slow, not rushed. Food was perfect. Get the Calamari. You won't regret it.
Great service but variable food— excellent appetizer and salads (creative and tasty take on Caesar salad) but mains not nearly as good. Rotisserie chicken had good dark meat but over cooked and dried out white meat. Meatloaf very salty and not hot. Remarkably noisy restaurant, with lots of hard reflective surfaces. Not a place to which I would return.
Our waiter Stephane was a delight and hope he’s our waiter every time we go to Central from here on out!
Delicious food, great service
Was there pre-theater on a Thursday but it was still quite lively even though it was early. Food was tasty while being homey. The wine by the glass was excellent, much better than what is offered many places on the by-the-glass menu. Our waiter was helpful and humorous. As we came towards end of our meal though, it started to get busy and the wait staff weren’t as present. But would definitely go back for pre-theater again. Convenient, tasty, good wine and nice atmosphere.
Good service and tasty food for a pre-theater dinner.
Food has really fallen off. Ate there twice in last ten days ands each meal was a disappointment.
My friend and I both enjoyed the excellent onion soup. My grilled fish and vegetables were perfectly prepared. The mussels were plentiful and served in a flavorful broth.
A marvelous brunch. Terrific options, wonderful services.
Very good dinner, the pork chop is outstanding. And the gougeres are incredible. A perfect night out with friends.
Once again, Central's makes dining a wonderful affair. I chose Central's to celebrate my birthday and I was not disappointed.
Thank you for providing attentive service and delicious food. The late chef would be proud!
