Vallozzi's started over 50 years ago when Helen Vallozzi was selling homemade pastas out of her home. Helen opened a take out restaurant in Latrobe, PA a few years later where her popularity exploded. In 1977, Ernie Vallozzi moved his mothers location to Greensburg where it is still open and operating today. In 2012 Ernie's son Julian expanded the tradition in to downtown Pittsburgh. Vallozzi's Pittsburgh has recently joined a mere 1,200 restaurants worldwide as a recipient of the Wine Spectator Magazine's Best of Award of Excellence and is the only Italian restaurant in Pittsburgh to receive such an honor. Had a very pleasant meal. Sure there are trendier establishments but here the servers are always eager to please and the food is consistently good. You can’t go wrong at. Vallozzi’s.

This is my 4th time at Vallozzi’s and it was another great experience. The food was very good and the service was excellent. I left my credit card in the tab and was very very appreciative that my server came after me to return. Thank You🙂

Our server, Matthew, did a phenomenal job. Greater us, asked why we were dinning and if there were any time constraints. He balanced the time between cocktails, appetizer, and entrees perfectly. Had time to have dessert, pay our bill, and slowly walk across to Heinz Hall for the symphony. Can’t say enough about how nice, friendly, and humorous he was. Our food was amazing. Lamb shank was some of the best lamb I’ve ever had. My wife had mushroom ravioli and she also loved it.

This was my first time at the restaurant, solo lunch on March 8, 2023. The only downside was the young female host, who was cold and unfriendly. This is a beautiful and elite restaurant that is frequented by professionals. It is tastefully decorated and reminiscent of a fine private club. The seating is not my preference: one table after another against a wall, with little space between them. I was seated at a tiny two-table a the corner of the room, which was alright for one diner. Th closest party to me was two tables away. My service from a young bald gentleman whose name I do not know, was excellent and included a beverage refill without my asking, plus a quality check. I ordered a Vallozzi pizza ($13), which is a standard pie. I added sausage topping, for which the charge was a reasonable $1.50. The pizza was four good-sized slices. It was delicious. I will return to try one of the many Italian specialties.

Great place. Nice atmosphere. Our table ordered a variety of dinner choices, steak, scallops, lemon chicken, and chicken parm. All very good. We had the arancini appetizer which were delicious. We will be back

Great atmosphere, mediocre food. The restaurant came highly recommended but our entrees were bland and uninspired. They weren’t even appealing to look at. The mushroom ravioli were swimming in a clear brown broth that lacked any type of flavor, almost like a wonton soup. The shrimp in the malfaldine was white and seemed boiled rather than sautéed in the saffron butter listed on the menu. The octopus appetizer was so charred it tasted like it was burned. The best part of the meal was the arancini— they were oh so creamy and served on a delicious red sauce. We would not go back, given the prices.

Waiter only came by to refill our water glasses ONCE in 3 hours! I had to take from my friends glass, and then asked for a refill after he has been back numerous times and didn’t refill it. Also didn’t box up our food, just tossed us a box and no bag.

Yummy dinner with friends foe their son's birthday. We are gluten free and enjoyed the Parma salad, spaghetti (gf rigatoni)(no meatballs), and seafood risotto. Lovely staff. (Sorry no pics of food!)

Samuel provided great service at the table - was extremely knowledgeable on the menu and efficient. Every recommendation was spot on I would also recommend getting a drink at the bar from Allie - she had a great personality behind the bar. We will definitely be back!

Major menu upgrade. Been going here for years. Bartenders try to be mixologists and succeeded. Italian wine options abound and sommelier competent. Menu options have expanded and all of outr meals well top notch. I had Pasta, my wife gnochi and son had veal parmesan. Unique pizza as appetizer using provolone chese. I prefer bar area.

The appetizers were very good, as were the wine and the service. From there, though, things went downhill. The salads were extremely overdressed and so salty that no one at the table could stomach them. My son got the pork chop and it was over-charred. It tasted like meat that is cooked over charcoal that was lit with lighter fluid. Also, it was quite dry. I got the veal dish that sounded amazing on paper. Veal with pprosciuttostuffed with mozzarella cheese and "lightly" breaded. It was more like a cordon bleu, but alavorless. Again, no one at the table ate more than a couple of bites. The desserts were spot on. If I were to go again, i would do tapas and just get appetizers and desserts.

I have been to Vallozzi"s in the past and it was a great dining experience. This time I was disappointed from the service to the food. Waited 15 minutes before drinks were ordered. Cesaer salad a disappointment with mostly the stalk. Dinner was lukewarm with crunchy couscous and burnt sweet potatoes. The swordfish was the saving grace - tender and moist.

My experience of Vallozzi’s restaurant began entering the Valet Parking lane where I was immediately greeted by a young man who cheerfully parked my car. My guest and I walked through the front door of the restaurant and we were instantly seated, served and treated like royalty until we finished our meal. So here it comes….impeccable service, outstanding food, drinks/cocktails and a VERY long wine list covering every region of Italy…. all add up to - “A fine dining experience “. Will I go back? Definitely! YES…treat yourself and dine here!
