The Original Cottage Inn
We had reservations for 10, but it changed to 21 at the last minute. They were more than accommodating and put together one huge table upstairs for us. The service was great and the food is always was great. One of my favorite spots to visit whenever I come to Ann Arbor!
Favorite pizza place. During my college years the university did not serve Sunday dinner. Cottage Inn became a favorite go to pizza place. Years late it still does not disappoint. We have introduced our daughters to this place and it has become a favorite of theirs too. Love going back to the Original location. Food was great as always.
Football weekend dinner with college friends.
Pizza was good. The other food was meh at best. Service was pretty poor.
In town for a football game. Wanted casual, good food, and lively. It is all of those and affordable.
Someone needs to train the hostesses in this establishment. They don’t seem to realize that the are in a SERVICE industry. The two young ladies working the front of the house were not just rude, but hostile. Unbelievable. Totally turned me off to Cottage Inn. Food was delicious and satisfying, but I’m not likely to return. There are so many choices in this part of AnnArbor, and I just don’t need the attitude
Had not been to the cottage inn in many years. It was like old home week. I love the ambience. The lasagna was excellent but two larger portion for me.
We hadn't been to the Original Cottage Inn for a number of years. But, since the restaurant has been in business in the same spot, with the same ownership, for many decades, you know what to expect. I would rate the food very good, reliable Italian cuisine. Its not elegant but any stretch, but you won't be disappointed. My only complaint would be the booth we were originally seated at was extremely tight and uncomfortable. Fortunately, we were there before it was busy, so were able to move to a booth with more room.
As a public service I will tell you to always check Open Table prior to actually going to the restaurant. We walked in on a football Friday around 7:30pm and were told that it would be a 2 hour wait. I searched on Open Table, found the restaurant and there were MANY openings available. We sat down 15 mins later.
We hadn’t eaten at Cottage Inn for years & were glad we’d made a reservation. Even on this chilly, rainy evening, the place was full by 6:30 with lots of families & couples. Service was very good as was the food & value.
First time here, our server Lisa took very good care of us, allowing us to browse the menu and offered assistance with any questions we had. We started with a bruschetta then had pasta with pesto sauce and lasagna with a soup and salad. All was prepared well and flavorful.. meat sauce for the lasagna was very meaty... just the way I like it. It was a nice casual dinner never felt rushed and price with drinks was reasonable. We'll be back as we seen many other dishes on the menu we would like to try.
The food was good. The Service was terrible. It took so long for the waitress to take order and never came by to see if we needed anything. We had to ask for Bread. We were not happy the tip was included.
We always stop at the cottage inn when we go to Ann Arbor. Their deep dish pizza is a must try!!! It's a little dated, but that adds to the charm, I like it but could see how someone may not. We have always had good service except for our latest trip, but I'm going to chalk that up to a server that seemed to have had a long night (we showed up at 9:30 with a party of 10). Overall I would recommend and we'll be back!
All around good - friendly, great food - would definitely go back
Went online to get a table for a birthday group and nothing was done by staff to make it a Special Occasion.
Best pizza in town; other good Italian cuisine too; inexpensive and therefore popular.
The Cottage Inn had great food and service. We took our friends out for a celebratory dinner. Would go again anytime we wanted great Italian comfort food.
We had 14 people and our event at U of M finished early. They seated us early and the service was excellent. Food was hot and delicious. Really enjoyed it.
Charming wait-staff, Athena!
Sentimental meal for Alumni!
AWESOME pizza....THE Original!
At server’s recommendation, had thin crust Cottage Inn special (sausage, pepperoni, mushrooms). Delicious! Kids enjoyed margherita pie and wife enjoyed veggie sandwich, which I thought was strikingly tasty. Very casual, but great service, food, and atmosphere.
Pizza and cranberry pecan salads were delish!! Would go back again-a cute place
Food was great! Waitstaff was outstanding! Price was right.
This visit to the Cottage Inn was not as satisfactory as usual. My chicken parmesan, while tasty, was slightly overcooked. My friend's chicken marsala was somewhat dry, even though the sauce was tasty. The clam chowder was very good, as usual. The others in our group enjoyed their choices. The portions were very large, with most of us taking home leftovers.
Service was very friendly, and a couple of minor mistakes were quickly and cheerfully corrected. Happy Hour at the bar included several good drinks and appetizers at bargain prices.
Our group meeting was well treated by the staff. Our appetizers came quickly and the main course of pizzas fully met our expectations.
Overall wonderful experience. Excellent gluten free pizza!!!
I always forget about this adorable place, hanging on to its Ann Arbor legacy for 60 odd years and still going strong. We had a lovely dinner after seeing two Cinetopia films and we could actually discuss them, not too loud like so many restaurants in town. Delicious salads and they have very nice gluten free pizza. Impeccable and friendly service. Will definitely be back.
We really enjoyed the food! It was great, Aso our wait person, Athena, was really nice!
If you are lucky Tyler S. will be your server , he is fantastic and made a great spot even better.
Staff took great care of us for family get-together after Navy commissioning ceremony. Thank you!
Service was poor. Most orders came out wrong or did not come at all. Food tasted ok but some of us ended up eating something we did not order because we got tired of sending the meals back.
Wonderful food and cozy ambiance! Always an Ann Arbor staple! Our waitress seemed new to waitressing and we had to ask her to clear old glasses and plates. My eggplant Parmesan was terrific
Delicious food, great atmosphere, excellent service. Consistently a great place to enjoy a meal.
We waited nearly an hour to get our drinks and bread. Nice waiter. He was overworked though and help was provided way too late to make up for it.
Our table was ready right away, and the food was really good. My daughter declared it the best pizza she had ever eaten. It was Saturday night, however, and they were extremely busy. A second waiter had to pitch in to eventually get us drink refills and bring our food, and even then there were a few minor details missed (I asked for dressing on the side, but it came on the salad). Everyone loved the food, though, and we will be back.
Was in Ann Arbor for a college visit and thought we would try a local favorite. Hostess spent an inordinate time on the phone before seating, did not even acknowledge that we were there. The place was mostly empty on a Tuesday night and they had a trivia game going on that attracted what seemed to be some local students. Place was dated but quaint. Menu looked good - the spinach lasagna was very good and almonds in it were an added touch that I've never had before. The blackened salmon caesar salad sounded really good but unfortunately it was an entire piece of salmon just placed on top of a salad, thought it would be cut up. Salmon tasted more like crab than salmon which made it even more disappointing. Probably should have ordered the pizza instead. Waiter service was fine and friendly.
The quality of the food on the buffet was as good as prior years. There were just fewer selections.
Good pizza and excellent service!
We always have a good time at Original Cottage Inn! The owner and all employees are friendly and attentive. They have enough space to accommodate groups as well as cozy booths for two or four.
It was great place to eat with a big group. The pizzas were delicious.
Quick meal on a work day. Always good, always predictable, a great place for a pizza, salad or a burger!
