State & Main Kitchen + Bar - River Center
The food was disappointing: the French dip meat was sliced, not shaved, and hard to cut, even with a steak knife. Also, served not on baguette as stated, but on a glorified hotdog bun. Fries excessively salty. The Chateau Souverain rosé was excellent.
We had excellent food with terrific service at a completely acceptable cost.
We would recommend this restaurant and will very likely return another time.
Went for brunch, wasn’t very good, expected what was on the menu, what actually came was different, needless to say disappointed, server wasn’t attentive... seemed as though disappeared for very long periods of time
We are usually at your restaurant once every few weeks the service that we had on Wednesday night was extremely slow and it wasn’t even a full restaurant
Water refills were few and far between
Reserved table was available when we arrived. Service and food were great. It was a bit loud but could still have conversation without shouting.
I'm glad we made a reservation because there was a line up at the door and the restaurant was packed. The menu had several items we wished to try but we came for the steak Oscar which did not disappoint. Our meal was delicious and we talked about it several times. We will definitely be back. The only thing I might say negatively is the wait time for food was longer than we'd like, almost an hour.
All in all it was a good experience and we will come back to try the other menu items
Went for my daughters birthday. Order appetizers which had good portion size. Booth was comfortable. Service was good. Took a bit to get us started, but after that things were flowing pretty good. It was nice there was some gluten friendly options for my wife who has celiac disease. I would recommend the Brussel sprout appetizer! Only thing wish the waitress was a little friendlier. I think they may have been a little short staff and she was trying to get to all her tables.
I would go again.
Excellent food and service.
Find open ceiling concept and no fabrics lend to noisy surroundings.
Excellent food, terrific service!
Nice place to have dinner and drinks before the theatre.
Work and visiting
This is the 2nd time I have dined at State and Main, 1st time not happy with food, this 2nd time the ribs were well over cooked, they certainly not fall off the bone as advertised. My wife enjoyed her Chicken Parmesan, but pretty hard to screw up pasta and chicken. I will be honest with folks who have asked my opinion about your restaurant. Saskatoon is loaded with good choices for eating and I don't need to spend top dollar on garbage.
Very glad we used open table walked right in ahead of everyone else waiting in line
Food not great. Our fish tacos had almost no fish in them... mostly coleslaw. Disappointed
I was with a disabled person on a scooter. The outdoor ramp was fine, but no access button. Entering through 2 doors, then having to turn into the eating area was very cumbersome.
My companion had to go to the bathroom but could not get his scooter around the corner. The manager was very nice & helpful after he realized the issue.
The music was so loud that we couldn't carry on a conversation.
I would not return for the above reasons.
The food was not exceptional but good.
The food was excellent and the service was wonderful.
This was a great location for a three-generation Mother's Day lunch. My children picked fantastic appetizers (pretzel bites and sweet potato fries). The bruschetta was perfect for my mom's meal and for me the Spanako flatbread hit the spot. To add variety to our experience my daughter enjoyed eggs benedict while my son made short work of his enchiladas. We were lucky enough that the restaurant wasn't that busy which meant a nice quiet lunch with lots of attention by our friendly servers. All in all a lovely experience!
Great food and service was wonderful!
It was a perfect place to eat just before going to the theatre. Food and service were very good.
Very Good. Better than average, did not blow my mind. I liked the very clear designation of where most of their meat comes from. Tanks of local beer was a plus for me. Server was nice and capable. Why don't they let servers wear all their clothes in places like this? My wife wanted to leave her some leggings or something. It might be a reason we don't go back.
Good food. Fast service
We brought 4 of our grandchildren for dinner before the show we were going to see , staff was very good and efficient and friendly , we will be back , 2 of the boys had the ribs and loved them .one young girl had the butter chicken was good but the chicken into shredded little pieces , and a bit dry ,
But we enjoyed the evening
The food was good, as well as the service. The potions are not overly large. Guys were still hungry when we left.
Loved the restaurant; however, is there a chance that this would be the one place that didn't have sports on the TV screens all the time!! So tired of that!! When you're out on a Christmas business luncheon its so distracting and annoying. If I wanted to watch a hockey game I'd go to a sports bar.
Alright but not great. Sausage tough as whale skin. Spear of fruit a nice touch. To be honest I can get a better breakfast at another local eatery for less than half the price that I paid.
My friends food was good but my steak was way over cooked and it was the smallest side of mashed potatoes and my steak was also tough and had like no seasoning or flavour . Highly disappointed with my meal but everyone else had awsome food and food I had there before was good . Just not a place for a steak
Our table wasn’t ready when we arrived, although, we were late due to parking issues. Once we had a table, the service was good, the food was terrific, especially the gravy. The cocktails were very good. The price was acceptable and reasonable.
Nice place and good food . Main disappointment was that I found the waitress didn't seem to have much interest in out table. I'm not sure if it was because we were not drinking alcoholic beverages or what the case was.
