Extremely condescending server who was not helpful when I asked about how the prawns were prepared. He claimed that “if I had ever been to Gjelina before I know that all dishes are good” - I’ve been there before and prawns turned out to be not that great. Just frustrating when we did like the other dishes and I’m being talked to as if I’m an idiot.

We love gjelina’s - everything about it - I did take 1 star off this time, as the vegan options were very limited and they offered no flexibility at all to amend dishes (only because we asked were we told there was fish oil in the Brussels sprouts .,!), which was surprising and a little disappointing for our daughter’s first visit. But we will be back!

We’d been waiting years (since the pandemic) to come here with friends and it did not disappoint! The service and atmosphere were awesome, the wine list amazing, and the food- seasonal and fresh, amazing flavour combinations, just a truly wow experience.

We had to wait 20 minutes even though we had made a reservation. We were seated at a table that is good for 2 people but we were four. Service was very slow and the servers unfriendly.

Very rude host. They knew it was a birthday lunch, they sat us at the roof top with no ambience at all. The waiter brought us wrong order at least 3 times. Worst birthday lunch experience ever.

Mandatory 20% tip included in the bill. No option to remove or change it. I am tired of seeing forced extra charges by restaurants. First it was the 2-4% fee for Covid, or benefits, etc. that was bad enough, I mean if the restaurant’s costs go up they should just raise their menu prices. But a mandatory 20% tip regardless of party size (we were 3 people) is going too far. Tip should be at my discretion. I really liked the food, but won’t ever return.

This review is based on two visits. Food -inconsistent: First time we visited, the duck was prepared perfectly, probably the best I have ever had. Prawns were in shells… which makes it very difficult to eat. Prawns were somewhat dry. Mushroom truffle pizza was good but somewhat burned for my taste, my husband loved it. Second time, the duck was awful-overdone, dry, salty. The pizza was slightly burnt again. The french fries were over-salted with seasoning salt and not very crispy. Their ginger lemon non-alcoholic drinks were great both times. ambience: nice and lively on the patio, more quite on the outside, somewhat noisy and moody inside-pick the one that suits you. Overall: we waited for our sits both times the bathroom were not clean both times. there is only one sink in the bathroom-very inconvenient. the service is somewhat attentive. first time better than the second time. we didn’t get our drinks for only three people at the same time and had to wait for a while. they clean/wipe your table in front of you while you still dining/finishing drinks which I personally don’t like and don’t consider to be a quality service (please note, we are very quick diners-no more than 1hr visits).

Amazing menu - the chicken liver pate is something I will dream about for months, maybe years! We sat on the rooftop and it felt like a gourmet picnic, especially starting off with a little bit of olive bread and bubbly rose.

The food is just outstanding full stop. Exceeded only by the gracious, warm, incredibly knowledgeable wait staff. Chef does vegetables unlike (and better than) any other, the pasta is cooked perfectly, the hanger steak is intensely flavorful. Ambiance is lovely, casual, comfortable. We love this place and save up to eat here. Worth every penny.

This was my second visit to Gjelina and this dinner was far better than our first. My friends and I ate on the patio to avoid the noise in the main dining room and it was great. We shared a dandelion salad (never had before) and it was excellent. Also had one eggplant and one House made sausage pizza. Everything was very good and the servers were very attentive. In addition we had two glasses of wine at $23 per glass......They add a 20% tip. Total charge including tip was $131.39. Will skip the wine next time at about $37 per glass including tax and tip. Ugh.

Always love Gjelina. The atmosphere is great/has a great energy. Food was good and service was excellent. The issue I had was they added 20% to the bill on a table of 2 - then the waitress had to come over explain it and then basically beg for an extra tip. I gave an extra 10% - so I guess I gave a 30% tip? It was/is really confusing and I felt bad for the waitress. I'd rather pay more for the food then go through this type of situation.

Food was sensational. The ribs were the best I have ever had. Literally fell off the bone, melted in the mouth. The pizza was very good, thin, fresh, and hearty sauce. The mushroom toast was very creamy. Cab Franc was good, lastly the Strawberry and Peach gelatos were phenomenal.

Delicious food full of flavours that were sublime. Staff friendly , pace of service just right- not too slow not too fast. Chilled space, 2/3 room and outdoors upstairs and down. Ask for outdoors downstairs. Would have been nice to have bread in table ( I’m European- not sure if this is a usa thing), lots of lovely dressings to mop up!

Gjelina is such a staple- food and service is always fantastic. We were placed at a table on the sidewalk sitting right next to piles of all the unused outdoor equipment so our view from dinner was stacks of heat lamps and other trash. The outdoor setting of the Gjelina garden and the inside of the restaurant are a big part of the dining experience. Getting put at this table is like being thrown in the corner with all the old furniture. We loved our food and the service was great but the table placement on the side is not a 'Gjelina experience.'
