La Palapa Restaurant
Order the octopus appetizer. You won't regret it! Service was amazing, they really put extra care and attention for us to enjoy our meal. We celebrated our anniversary at sunset, accompanied with romantic music and amazing environment. Highly recommend for a nice sunset dinner on the beach in Puerto Vallarta.
Still one of the best restaurants in Puerto Vallarta that sits on the beach with ocean breezes. Service is wonderful and the wine list has selections from all over the world. Menu choices are varied and there is quite a selection.
Went there whilst on holiday for my birthday (family of 10). Location and staff are fantastic - and whilst it rained, the staff seamlessly moved us from the beach to under cover.
We enjoyed the food in the main, but the cost is a little pricy.
I would also strongly recommend asking for the Mexicana coffee - it’s a display to behold!
💯% recomendado
Overall beautiful old world charm ... we tried traditional butterflied grilled fish and filet and neither disappointed.. overall beautiful location and we had an amazing view of the sunset and loved it ! Service is super friendly and to the point .
Amazing ambiance for special occasions. The service was pretty good it could have been better for the reputation of the restaurant but it was not awful just everything seemed 5 minutes always behind. If you make your reservation during sunset it's pretty magical! We'll be back for sure for brunch since we did dinner this trip.
Did an open table reservation for lunch here. Well worth it. Great service, very detail oriented, prompt and gave great recommendations. The food was very nice good quality seafood with a nice presentation. The location on the beach with smooth jazz was great. If you dont want to be bothered by vendors they have a sign you can put up that keeps them away. Had wine and cocktails and a full meal. Fans are available at the tables so you can have a breeze. Jorge was our server, and he was great. Will return.
Great long-standing local spot to enjoy well plated, traditional Mexican with a contemporary spin. Wonderful place to watch the sunset, enjoy live music and people watch. Excellent service, clean bathrooms and fun atmosphere. A must in Puerta Vallarta.
Perfect honeymoon-dining experience. Seared salmon did not disappoint, served on the most delicate handmade ravioli. Sauce, ambience, and service were all on-point.
Mediocre food in a fabulous setting with great service. Would have been perfect if the food met expectation. Should have listened to the locals and gone elsewhere.
Wine selection are fantastic. Beach front dining was amazing. Entrees were slow to come out but they were getting busy. Timing of drinks and appetizers was perfect, entrees were almost an hour after the appetizer was finished. But we watched the sunset and enjoyed the experience.
Arrived a little early but they were able to accommodate my party of 6 without hesitation. Great food, amazing view and wonderful staff.
Welcome was good.
Restaurant location was very good with good views is ocean & sunset.
Standards of cleanliness was good.
Food was of good standard.
Only real negative was the Price of a bottle of Prosecco as it was VERY expensive! In comparison to usual price all around the world.
Great Sevice , the food was delicious and the servers were fabtastic. The location is fantastic. We are looking forward to come back!
Great ambiance for any occasion... Service and views are great for a relaxing dinner!
One of the best dining experiences I've had in a while that I came back twice over a weekends stay. We sat on the beach just a few steps from the water and the best short rib I've ever consumed. Also the tortilla soup and bread were very good. Can't go wrong with the their drinks either! There was also fireworks directly overhead which just added to an already amazing experience.
I love the view of sunset from La Palapa. Our table was perfect and the servers were so very attentive to our comfort by arranging fans to cool us on a warm evening. The La Palapa shrimp was amazing and the beet salad was refreshing. My friend enjoyed the shrimp appetizer special. He then followed with the red snapper. It was very good. Service was well-timed and friendly. Our wine was kept perfectly chilled. Our server was very engaged with us and the conversation about his family and child was interesting and enjoyable. When I'm back in Puerto Vallarta, I will definitely return to La Palapa!
La Palapa is one of the best restaurants I’ve been to in my life. Ambience, table on the beach, 40 feet from the water. Beautiful sunsets, moon, fireworks from the sea. Our evening was the absolute best all due to our wait staff of Eli Angel and his team taking care of us. Eli is a world class individual and we loved him and his attention to details. The food was amazing. We had the whole fish and the pork. Eli brought us a dessert that was a piece of art with accompanying after dinner drink that topped off our evening. We love La Palapa! Eli and staff..... Gracias for a very memorable evening!!
My husband and I chose this restaurant based on reviews as well as it being recommended by other fellow travelers. We requested a table on the beach for dinner and we watched a beautiful sunset not to mention one of the best meals we had on our trip. This was after dining at the famous La Iguana at Casa KIMBERLY, which was nice but I felt a little overpriced with small portions. I would definitely recommend this beautiful restaurant and will certainly return.
We went with my girlfriend to celebrate our anniversary and birthday to The Palapa. The experience of the place started by friendly greeters and people who were always eager to please and with a great smile. We did our reservation at the best time possible to see the sunset and have a romantic evening.
We haven't talked about the food which was an unbelievable experience from beginning to end. We asked for the lobster fish tacos, fresh market fish, Palapa shrimp and the BBQ ribs. For dessert a lava cake. Everything we tried was AMAZING!
I would definitely recommend checking this place. Special thanks as well to our server Gil and Alfredo who were kind enough of giving us travel tips of places to visit, warm treatment and did a nice gesture for us in our anniversary dessert.
So good we are going back two nights later. Food and ambiance are great.
We were right on the beach, and enjoyed a nice slow meal soaking in the final sun and being treated like royalty. La Palapa is always lovely.
A wonderful lunch with friends in the beautiful La Palapa Restaurant. Great food and terrific service and lovely ambiance.
The ambiance was great. The food presentation was superb and delicious. Loved watching the sunset while enjoying the short rib!
It's a fancy place that puts the napkin in your lap. Calm live music, soothing ambiance, ocean seating, and the best food I've had, by far the best of many restaurants my wife and I have visited in Mexico. We ate our fill, 2 appetizers and 2 main dishes, 2 glasses of wine, mixed drink, and a beer. Only $145 US Dollars including tip. Eli was our server, the nicest man, who asked us "Are you happy? " instead of some other general meaningless question. We most certainly were. We shall return.
What a gorgeous dining experience. La Palapa definitely scores the gourmet food game in PV. Aside from the seaside dining on the sand - picture perfect - and the lovely and elegant interior, the food was a surprise and stunner. Perfect grilled pulpito with leeks, chorizo and baby potatoes- as good was we’ve had anywhere. A delicious spinach salad with seasoned panella - just to start. The catch of the day was totally unique - panfried red snapper with grilled tomatoes, cabbage, potatoes in a herbed, green butter sauce, super deliberate and tight in its flavors. The short rib threw us a little - am ample, beautiful portion with a “barbecue” sauce of guava and an elote/polenta cake. Delicious, although the guave sauce was so unlike anything we’ve had. So glad we ordered it, but not sure we would order again - sort of a sweet, mole-styled sauce. All was topped off with elegance live music, and superior service by Gilberto and his team - attentive, specific with food details and explanations, and always on hand for a great experience. Honestly we were skeptical - high end food in the heart of touristville? One hundred percent.
MUY BONITO RESTAURANT Y BUENA COMIDA
I went with a group of girls, and the dinner on the beach with an amazing view of the bridge was definitely a good experience. What made it better was the amazing food, and services that they provided! I got the seafood symphony, and it was delicious!
Best restaurant in mexico
Been going there for 20 years always great
We enjoyed La Palapa three times on this visit to PV. For drinks, then breakfast, and then for dinner. Eli, Victor, and Angel were an excellent team, knowledgeable about the cocktails (cranberry basil margarita), appetizers (pulpo), and entrees. When it came time to choose a wine with our snapper, we knew we wanted to enjoy a Mexican wine, and Eli and his team were able to fine tune our selection. Excellent sunset views. Live music in the background. A perfect evening.
Great food, ambiance and service.
There are many places to fine dine in PV, and we chose LP for it ambiance on the beach and we had hoped the food as well. Both my wife and I enjoyed the service and ambiance however the food was sub par for the price, at least the night we were there. As appetizers I had a lobster bisque which was presented beautifully, however was nothing special compared to other bisques I have had and my wife had the mazamitla salad which again was nothing special at all. For dinner I had the seafood symphony which while looked pretty, had very fishy tasting mussels I could not eat one and my wife tried one as well and spit it out, and only had two very small pieces of octopus. I ate only the shrimp. My wife had the Fish Special of the day which was red snapper and she said it was overcooked dry and tasteless. Waiter never asked why we ate so little. Needless to say a disappointing last evening meal given we had several other great meals for far less cost in PV.
One of the best restaurants in Mexico. Do not miss the chance to try their fresh, authentic cuisine in the most beautiful setting!
