We ate here in October and it was a great experience. The meal began with the best baguette EVER and the appetizers, entrees, desserts, wine were exemplary. This is true French dining--you would swear you were in Aix or Avignon. Way easier parking though.

My husband, friend and I had the prix fixe dinner. I had salmon; they had flat iron steak. Mine was very good; their steak could best be described as "chewy." I twas prepeared to medium rare as they requested, but neither finished their steak. The appetizers and desserts were acceptable, but nothing to rave about.

You know you will have a good experience when the owner is very present, engaging with guests and monitoring every detail. The Brasserie offers a nice menu of plats du jour, daily specials, and prix fixe selections. From good bread to nice desserts, everything we had was very good. The space is attractive, the service pleasant and efficient, and the prices reasonable. We will definitely return.

We have been to the Brasserie several times. It is consistently good food with a prix free menu with good value. The owner is always gracious and says " thank you for coming" to the diners. The service is efficient and for the most part professional. We are from New York and have a second home at Stratton and always try to eat at the Brasserie whenever we come to Vermont weekend. One of the better Manchester/Stratton restaurants.

Couldn't get a reservation when we called, but open table had multiple options... Food was excellent. Only quibble is that the seating is a bit tight. We felt a little awkward since it was impossible not to hear every word spoken at the tables to either side of us.

Expected a real French restaurant - booked it well in advance for Columbus weekend based on overall good recommendations. SnAils in a puff pastry spiced so much that you do not feel the real Taste . Scallops in overcooked risotto - nothing special. My Family took a burger - they said McDonalds has better ones. Maybe I am a spoiled European - but this had nothing to do with even the simplest basic French kitchen. Service on spot OK. Wanted to take 2 more people for dinner last minute and was not accepted although we ended up sitting 4 at a table that easily sits 8. No tablecloth - French would not allow that! Overall bad food and very much overpriced. Next day found in the Manchester city an e cellent oriental restaurant with tablecloths and gourmet food.

Friendly host and friendly knowledgeable waitstaff. It was a chilly day and we arrived at 1pm with our adorable 7lb dog. The host turned on the outdoor firepit and set up a table for us outside so we would not have to leave our dog in the car. Would recommend this restaurant to anyone that enjoys fresh and delicious food!

Food was delicious and the service was great - very attentive. The ambiance is nice, but loud. The tables are also very close together. I could hear the people sitting on either side of me talking better than my spouse across from me which was very distracting. I also felt bad for the staff who always had to duck down when they came to the table to avoid hitting their heads on the low hanging lamps. The portions are perfect and very flavorful. They have a nice cocktail menu and wine list and are heavy on the pour which is great. Reservations are highly recommended on weekends as this place is packed. There is a nice size bar as well if you just want to have cocktails.

The setting was sweet, but the food not memorable. The location is quaint and the service was nice as expected. The wine list was lovely and the owner (?) acted as the sommelier. The food was good, but not very memorable. We had the prix fixe menu. They were out of the crème brulee and replaced with profiteroles that were questionably homemade.

Enjoyable meal. Service a bit slow but pleasant. Too many waiters rushing around achieving little. Manager/ maitre d' a bit surly and over the top, even for a Frenchman. Good location with plenty of parking. Try the lamb shank on a Wednesday evening.

No towers of pulverized powdered manipulated transformed into unrecognizable approximations of food. This is the real thing and perfect in its way. Don't expect high cuisine, but you will love every morsel and wipe the plate with the excellent bread.

We were seated right in front of the kitchen and near the host stand even though there were plenty of open tables in other areas of the restaurant. There was no one else seated near us. The food was mediocre and not as we would have expected given the reviews. The pear/parsnip soup was bland, the braised short ribs were just okay, but the wine was good. Also, the owner yelled at the chef, the front of the kitchen runners, and our waitress during our time. It was just uncomfortable and we felt badly for them.

This attractive restaurant is in a strip of good restaurants just outside of Manchester, so competition is fierce. Service was excellent, the surroundings were attractive with dark red wood paneling and high timber ceilings. We would have rated it higher but the Foie gras was expensive at $29 for the size serving and the toast was dried out. It was tasty however. The curried pear and parsnip soup was fabulous. My filet with bordelaise sauce was very good. The venison was a bit chewy as venison is wont to be. The wine list had a good selection at reasonable prices. Desserts were quite good as well. They are trying, so give it a try.

We dined three nights in Manchester Center, Vermont, one at the Barrow's House Inn, one at the Reluctant Panther, and the third night at this Brasserie. Without a doubt our best meal was at this restaurant! We were greeted immediately by the host/owner who showed us to a intimate table in the bar. We enjoyed watching the very competent chef orchestrate dinner for the restaurant from our table. The waiter was very attentive and helpful. My husband had steak tartare as an appetizer and I had the 'small' order of mussels and frites. Both were absolutely delicious. For my main course I had the venison which was perfectly prepared. The portions were generous, and we could have easily shared the 'small' mussel appetizer. The food absolutely held up to the menu descriptions. If we are back in the neighborhood we will definitely return.

We have a place in Stratton and have passed this place so many times on our way up. We finally decided to give it a try after reading some reviews. We started with the Oysters which were great. Our entrees - strip steak and venison were phenomenal. Cooked perfectly and were so delicious. We topped off out hearty meals with after dinner cocktails and creme brulée - a must have!! It was outstanding - some of the best creme brulee I've had! The service was impeccable.

Nice space with a relaxing ambiance and friendly service. The steak was tender and flavorful, but the pommes frites lacked crunch and tasted reheated even on a busy Saturday night. Crème brulée caramelized perfectly. It would be nice to have a more generous pour on the wine . . .

We visited for dinner in August while on a family vacation with our college age kids. My daughter and I ordered the fixed price 3 course option. Mine came with a beautiful and delicious salad of greens, beets, and goat cheese. She chose the French onion soup, also a winner. For entrees we had steaks, which were not the cut on the menu but that was explained by the wait staff. It was still tender and flavorful, and cooked perfectly med-rare. Dessert was included, a creme brulee and a Valhrona pot de creme. The "boys" had a haddock provencale and a slow cooked rabbit that my son just loved. Fresh bread was great, wines by the glass - Cote du Rhone available. The only negatives were a very disappointing mac & cheese with truffles (awful, dried out and tasteless) and they needed another waitress, only 2 were on. Fairly noisy restaurant, and after we were seated they seated a family with 2 small children right by us, and the little girl was crying - not a restaurant for small children.

Brasserie L'Oustau de Provence is an outstanding, first-rate bistro. With great food quality, unique cocktails, this place is not to be missed. We've been there more than half a dozen times, and it never falters. Although we have a house that is 50 minutes away, we always feel that it is worth the drive. Shop at the Manchester outlets and stop by for brunch or dinner. You won't be disappointed.

The food was very good. However it was so hot in the dinning room it made it impossible to enjoy it. Sweat dripping off your waiters brow tends to ruin the experience. The open kitchen is clearly to blame but the owner made it worse by fulling opening the window shades in the middle of our meal. Go in the fall or winter and maybe you will be comfortable.

We booked lunch based on the menu on Open Table and are very glad we found this gem. There were so many interesting and seasonal choices that it was hard to choose. We opted for the prix fixe three course menu. My husband had potato soup that was velvety and full of flavor , asparagus omelette and chocolate dessert. I had a frisée salad with lardons, croutons and poached egg that was so delicious that I plan to try to copy! The omelette was perfectly seasoned and expertly prepared. Creme brûlée topped off the wonderful lunch. The service is amazing but not stuffy and the owner made it a point to check on each table without being obtrusive. We were able to sit outside and this is always a plus in the norteast. We travel often and seek out some of the best restaurants in cities like NY, Montreal, San Diego and this was better than most! We can't wait to go back.

The food was magnificent. The service hospitable and professional, although even with very few tables occupied, our server was rarely seen. Since both the water and the wine were kept some distance from the table, more frequent checks to see if more was needed would have been helpful. However, we will be returning because the whole package more than made up for this small glitch.

I was SHOCKED this place wouldn't be MOBBED. As it should. Service is IMPECCABLE, from the owner's heart and soul into his clients and his restaurant, the team that serves you, and the food the chef will send to your table. IMPECCABLE! I've been to France - and Brasserie, with its unpretentious finesse, and retrained flavoring of food that doesn't allow for excesses yet elevated the ingredients in the meal is simply at par with ANY GOOD French bistro. The chef, a true blue American boy knows how to cook. With elegance. Food that you want to eat. Again. And Again. I WILL crave their mushroom soup and their mussels and frites for a very long time. The burger... $24 of juicy, flavorful, VT meat, with foie gras, cheese, caramelized onions on a TOASTED AND BUTTERED brioche... its sinful to eat such decadence. The wine list is equally restrained - not too much, not too little, but VERY well selected, AND you can buy the 1/2 glass - which is AWESOME! Wonderful meal. WONDERFUL experience. I'd drive the 2.5 hours just to eat here again!

The owner is directly involved, from greeting to asking how dinner was. It's rare to find an owner to be so engaging with customers. The wait staff is welcoming and kind. The hero should be the food, and it lives up. They offer a unique menu and food is fresh and full of flavor. The ambience is nice and if you enjoy watching the chefs cook, it's completely open for viewing. This is the place to go in Manchester for a fine dining experience.

Travel and Leisure rated this very highly and that is why I booked my reservation there. The maitre'd was really nice and our server was slightly nervous, but he got the job done well. The beet salad and onion soup were super tasty. But our steaks were bland and very tough. Great frites tough. A run-of- the-mill creme brûlée was cold, but sweet and yummy. For me I would say it just didn't live up to the hype of the T&L rating. I think I was expecting some type of extraordinary Daniel Boulud food, which this meal was not. I would recommend it, but it was not worth a second trip for me. Next time I'm in Manchester, I probably would check out a different place.
