Omakase Room by Tatsu
their seating is only an hour and a half long and this was not enough time for us to comfortably finish our meal and then be able to digest for one minute before they come and they asked us to get up. I found it to be quite rude. There was no desserts or even a cup of tea when the meal was finished they were clearing the table right away. I found it to be quite rude. There was no dessert or even a cup of tea and the meal was finished. For the amount of money for the dinner the settings should be at least two hours.
Our fourth or fifth visit since the closing of Soto. The service is great and the sushi outstanding
Wow wow wow ! A mix of flavors , quiet an exquisite experience of the senses! Amazing Omakase . Went there for birthday celebration of my boyfriend and the experience and the food were incredible! So so worth it and will go back again for sure.
The fact that it’s intimate quiet and no music allows your senses to be really focused on what you are tasting in the menu without distractions and noise.
We got a signed book by the check at the end of the experience.
Impeccable service and outstanding quality omakase sushi, served personally by a sushi master. Beautifully sparse decor and quiet ambiance allow you to appreciate every uniquely delicious piece.
A great experience for sushi lovers. Only seats a few (ten?) people per seating. You get to watch each piece prepared. Perfect for foodies.
Utterly divine! A temple. Chef Tatsu is extraordinary. Everything here is perfection. Arigatou gozaimashita.
Amazing food, experience with very hospitable service.
This was my first Omakase and it was amazing. You are attended to from the moment you walk in. Your glass is never empty and the omakase itself was fantastic. Every bite was amazing and I will definitely go back for another memorable special occasion.
Freshest and most traditional sushi omakase. Excellent in every way.
I used to live in NYC and would frequent Omakase Room on a regular basis ever since I discovered it. Now that I live on the other side of the coast, I make it a point to make a reservation here every time I visit NYC. The ambiance reminds me of a fav omakase place in Tokyo, the sushi is top notch and meticulous, and the service impeccable. The staff always remembers us, and seats us right in front of Tatsu. It is always great to watch him do his magic, to take such pride in his sushi and care of his customers. This past visit he even gave us Shinko, a rare fish that's time consuming to prepare, and very delicious. Then we found out he planned it in advance when he saw our reservation! To add to that he gifted us a copy of his book which I'm currently enjoying. We love this little gem of a place and its chef and staff. Very much looking forward to our next visit when we're back in NYC!
Some of the finest sushi in the city, served on a 10 chair counter. Only two seatings, each for 90 minutes. But you won't be disappointed. Shocking impact on the pocketbook, but it is not clear how one assigns a value to some of the best sushi you have had.
What a treat. This place is a truly authentic Japanese style sushi restaurant. The fish/seafood was impeccable and Chef Tatsu was a master. I would absolutely recommend Omakase to anyone who would like to experience a true sushi master chef.
Omakase Room by Tatsu was great. 18 courses, not bad for the price.
Amazing experience! The food that Chef Tatsu prepares is fantastic and the service was excellent. I highly recommend this to any and all sushi-lovers.
Tatsu is a great sushi spot in the city. No frills. Great fish and as close as going to Japan for a sushi meal.
excellent food and service. one of the best shushi places in NYC !!
Went to Omakase room for a birthday celebration and we were not disappointed. Food and a ervice was outstanding.
Always a great Omakase experience!
Chef was amazing
Informative and a craftsman
Awesome sushi. Totally expensive, though!
An absolutely beautiful experience. Master Chef Tatsu is as wonderful as the art that he prepares.
Food was really really good. Very enetertaining to watch the chef Tatsu at work, he kept a slight smile on his face the entire time. Only complaint is that it was a way too quiet which made it feel too serious. Wished there was some background music playing.
Amazing meal, amazing service. The sushi was incredibly tender and flavorful. 18 courses at a slightly lower price point than other places with fewer courses, and none of the courses were close to mediocre. Definitely worth the price for a splurge meal.
Outstanding food and service. Best omakase experience I had so far.
Simplicity is what you find walking in the door, but complexity is what you find in what may be the most simple and humble preparation of Sushi in New York. Chef’s choice of fish is unmatched. I’ve now eaten at all the high end sushi joints here and this, by far, mimics the best of the Tokyo sushi joints. There’s no roll selection, there’s no cute sauces, there’s two simple ingredients: fish and rice. It’s all about the product he has chosen and how he respects the rice. Absolutely sublime and also QUICK as Sushi SHOULD be eaten. 90 minutes start to finish of 18 nigiri pieces. I should add that I was able to add to mine at the end including a tamago piece. Although not as good as Jiro’s, it still was nice to end the meal traditionally. And the miso soup is out of this world. GO. HERE. NOW. if you want a true Tokyo experience without the plane ticket or the insane prices of Ginza!!
Absolutely amazing service and food! Couldn’t have asked for a better omakase experience!
Amazing food and environment. Highly recommend
Great food, service, and ambiance.
One of the best sushi in NYC! I thought I was having sushi in Tokyo
It was an amazing experience start to finish. The aesthetic of the omakase room is perfection and the atmosphere is intimate. The personal attention from chef and the delicious food were all greatly appreciated.
Simply phenomenal sushi! Such a great food experience.
Omakase sushi counter with about 10 seats.
Fish is fresh and good nothing bad to say about the food. This is for sushi purest not the crowd that likes fancy’s sauces on their fish.
Service was average.
Peacefully exquisite Omakase experience. All 18 pieces were superb quality, we particularly liked the scallop, fatty tuna, and yellow tail.
A first-rate and authentic sushi experience. Highly recommend for those in search of that kind of unique and special evening.
This was our third visit and it continues to be great. One if the most authentic omakases in NYC. Certainly feel transported to japan. For the quality it is decent value at $135. The only thing I would change, i would start the first sitting at 5.30pm so that we can make the sittings 1h45min instead of 1h30min.
Omakase Room by Tatsu was one of the best dining experiences I've had in NYC. Tatsu-san and his team create such a unique and warm atmosphere. Tatsu's use of local fish makes his omakase selection even more interesting, and all of his pieces were simply stunning. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a unique and personalized sushi experience.
Omakase Room is not only a restaurant, it is a theatrical experience. To be in zen-like surroundings and watching the chef practice his art with such pride is a special experience. The quality of the fish was delicious, and the personal attention my friend and I received from the waiter was impeccable. At $135 for 18 pieces of sushi, the tasting menu is a deal for New York!
An unforgettable experience. Loved every moment and enjoyed watching a master of the craft of sushi making
Great experience and great sushi, will come back again
