Matteo's of Huntington
Friday - Saturday 4pm - 11pm
Sunday 3pm - 9pm
My girlfriend and I enjoy trying new places all over the island for Restaurant Week.
We got to the restaurant right before our reservation time. Once we got to the hostess who told us there's a wait because a large party they had THAT MORNING was late. Yikes. After waiting around for our table, we got seated. We were seated in the waiting area, which was strange, but we were happy to be seated.
The special menu, which we browsed ahead of time was full of great choices. We chose to start with burrata and baked clams. The burrata was fantastic! The baked clams were the size of a quarter, but dressed well and tasted very good. Our main courses were Chicken Speziato and Chicken Ultimo. The Speziato was very very good and the Ultimo my girlfriend got was just ok. Finally the tiramisu and tartufo we're both very good. Food was the saving Grace for this place.
I managed a tasting room on the North Fork, I get it. Restaurant Week is very busy and things happen with servers and staff. Aunts are sick, dogs eat homework, car breaks down. Staff calls out. Whatever. Management was not ready for the callouts and the fact they overbooked Sunday night. The hostesses we're completely lost trying to deal with the number of reservations. Servers were scrambling and trying to carry food through a packed waiting area. Our server Allie was fantastic even though the rudderless ship around her was sinking fast. She managed to keep our glasses filled and kept her cool even though everyone was in the weeds. Our experience appeared to be better than others that night. One couple was waiting for their car from the valet when we were and they said they had reservations and waited 45 minutes, got tired of waiting and just left.
I'm not sure I'd go again, unless it's like a Tuesday in January for an early dinner. Hopefully management can get it together. I wanted to love this place. The food was great, but there are other Italian restaurants with good food and great experiences around
Just an awful experience from the time we entered to the time we left. Upon arrival for our reservation, the manager told us they were delayed since a private party went 1 hour over (seriously, you let them go 1 hour over!). The person (male) sitting everyone had such an attitude and was huffing and puffing and saying obnoxious things to customers who were waiting to be seated. He complained that it was Restaurant Week and they were too busy (advice: don't participate in restaurant week if you can't handle it). Onto the food - edible at best. Appetizers were good, main entree was supposed to be Parpradelle Bolognese - say supposed to because it was egg noodles (the no yolk) ones - cannot believe an Italian restaurant or any restaurant would serve this instead of pasta!. Dessert was good, but service just terrible. Our waiter was barely present; had to ask three times for our glasses of wine, never brought over more bread, said they did not have cannoli or caramel and then our cheesecakes came with caramel drizzle on the plates and some got cannoli cream instead of whipped cream . There are much much better choices and will never be going back to this restaurant that was void of customer service, just eh food and not worth a penny to spend on.
While the food was good the overall dining experience was terrible. We were seated near a table of about 20. They were standing and yelling as if at a football game. When I complained to the manager he appeared so put upon I thought he would cry. When he asked me what he could do I said ask them nicely to lower their voices. He quickly calculated a projected tip and said that is not happening
I understand that Saturday nights are noisy. But, a table for 20 in the main dining room? We even pointed out an area in the lobby they could have used but that received a managerial dismissal.
Again, the food was good but there are many restaurants in Huntington with good food. The difference is you have a nice dining experience. You may even converse with those at your table. Some restaurants have kept that in mind
Delicious food, wonderful atmosphere, awesome service!
Food was great but even with restaurant week specials it was expensive. Drinks were costly $8-$12 average. Even a glass of soda was $3.75.
Nothing comes close to it in the area in terms of variety, quality and class.
Great food and ambiance!!
Love this place, the hostess in the front the gentlemen was so nice and he makes you feel so welcomed. the waitress was great, so friendly and attentive to customers needs she was awesome, the guy who gives the water and brings the bread was great also.
Waitress did not know how to serve pasta, 9 PM reservation and at 11 PM the air conditioning was turned on full to chase us out. The kitchen staff started cleaning with bleach and ammonia while we’re still sitting at our table 10 feet away…… enough said!
One of the most beautiful restaurants ever.
The food is just as amazing..
You can’t go to Matteo’s without trying one of the many mozzarella appetizers. The waitress recommended one and it was excellent. We also had the octopus and pizza with truffle oil...both outstanding. You can order individually or family style. We shared three main dishes and a vegetable. All were outstanding. Of course the ricotta donut with Nutella was to die for. I can’t wait to go back again.
Friendly atmosphere, excellent service, great choices on the menu. Food was properly seasoned & delicious! We’ll be going back.
Overall a disappointing time. My wife and I went for our 2nd anniversary. To start I asked for a table, on open table, away from the bar and bathroom and was seated at next to the door right by the extremely loud bar! (Strike One) The waitress, who was very pleasant, was either new or couldn’t handle her tables. She asked us twice what our cocktails were befor they came to us. She could not explain the one special my wife wanted more info on as she said she had not tried it. The honesty was appreciated. The busboy was very nice bringing bread and water but we never saw him again. Our apps came out, with some delay, and to say these were the stars of the meal. The Burratta panzanella and salmon carpaccio were very good. Plates were cleared by the waitress and she asked if we wanted another drink. My wife asked for a club soda and I wanted more water. The club soda came and I asked for water again. The pasta which should come first came with the entrees(strike two). A runner brought them accompanied by the waitress. I asked the runner and the waitress for more water, still did not get my water(strike 3). My wife’s veal looked very nice. My entree, grilled head on prawns, was the worst looking plate I have seen in 15 years of being a server. The Prawns were not grilled, in fact, 2.5 of the 6 were Raw! Two were cooked but not grilled! The plate was slapped together is a soupy watery sauce(strike 4). Plates removed leftovers wrapped dessert menu brought over and ordered. Cheesecake and pistachio ice cream. Both amazing! Cappuccino and espresso. No sugar offered and no lemon for espresso. Bill came befor being asked for, a peeve of mine. We left and didn’t understand where to wait for the valet. Get in the car and find our leftover lids we’re not secured properly. A giant disappointment for a special evening. Another peeve, $3.25 for a club soda but $4 for a cappuccino! Safe to say we will not be back no would we recommend this place to anyone. Overpriced under executed
Service was awesome and food was amazing. Highly recommend this restaurant. Been there a few times and it never disappoints!!
food was excellent and so was service--I would recommend this restaurant
Very good food at a great value. Newly redone place is very nice. Would go back.
Restaurant is beautiful. Service at the bar was substandard and the bartender was rude. The waiter at our table while dining was very friendly but unfortunately absent most of our meal. Waited over 30 mins to order appetizers so we decided to place entire order when he finally showed up (we had to flag him down). Ordered wine but he never came back to refill glasses. Food was hit and miss. Some dishes were outstanding, others so-so and one not to the diners liking. We expected more as had heard great things and left disappointed. Maybe we just visited on a bad night. Will try again.
Fantastic place. Food was superb and the service outstanding. Our waitress Dineris was wonderful and very attentive. Cliff you are doing an amazing job! Thank you! We will be back!
Matteo’s keeps getting better and better. Love the food!
Beautiful venue decent food
The new Matteos is beautiful inside and out
Great bar area and the dining area has several nice rooms
Food is just ok
Been there twice, and food was same quality each time
Service is very good as well
Food was delicious and waitress was exceptional!
Wonderful restaurant the food is delicious the service outstanding and the manager made the evening very special. We were celebrating a birthday and the staff went out of their way to make our guest feel extremely special. Even the parking attendant would not take a tip for her car and wished her a happy birthday. Matteo's is the place to be for a dinner with friends, a celebration or just a night to go out and enjoy yourself. This is a four star restaurant for sure.
Recently went for dinner with friends for the first time since the renovation. We were seated promptly and our waiter introduced himself right away. The food was very good and the portions were large. The service was very good but the noise level was very high which was annoying. We'd go back again though since the food was delicious!
We've never been there but will return. It was an excellent experience all around.
Had a wonderful prix fix dinner - renovation is exquisite! Loved it!
Some of the most friendly, pleasant staff I have encountered in a while. From the hostess to the busboys, all had a smile on their faces all nite long!!! Great experience
The food was pretty good, the drinks were terrible. The service was horrible, both of our waiters were bad. We will not return here.
I ordered filet of sole and it wasn’t seasoned. Also the broccoli rabe was too tough
It was very good. Service was good and food was great. Slight hiccup with the meal but not a problem at all.
I had been looking forward to going to Matteo's since they re-opened some time back, and finally got there. My friend and I were having a celebratory dinner, and we decided to stay at the bar for our meal. Our bartender/server was delightful and took very good care of us. Our food was delivered and served directly from the kitchen by very friendly, kind kitchen staff. Everything was delish. Atmosphere was lovely. Decor too. Prices as expected, not over priced at all.
The setting of Matteo’s of Huntington was fine, but having seen it from outside I had expected it to be something different, cozier and more intimate.
It is very large, it was crowded and very, very noisy.
The food was excellent though, and the price was fair. I would recommend it for that.
Ummm the place is exquisite but need to dim lights more
We had dinner on a busy Friday night. Food was good. We had a pear sa Aladdin and crispy Red Snapper special. When the server came to our table to serve the food he left without serving the food. We had better service in a diner..
The general manager at the Huntington Station Matteo's is a consummate professional. Clearly he is a master in hospitality and a fine restaurateur. The decor sets the stage for an evening of elegance and the food is fabulous.
We went with 6 people on Sept 3 for a birthday celebration. We got there at 6 pm for our reservation and proceed to wait a crazy amount of time to have our orders taken and for the food to get to the table. We were there for over 2 1/2 hours waiting. My husband went to complain to the manager and he said staff didn't show up so it wasn't his problem, he didn't even offer a drink or dessert and the food when it finally got to the table wasn't as good as usual. They lost our business because the manager and food were deplorable
Food was very salty and was very basic (ravioli comes with just red sauce, nothing special). There’s not strong attention to detail (string beans came with the vine). Wine list is very short. Seems like the main attraction for this place is being able to eat family style with large groups, making this place VERY LOUD. The general atmosphere was lacking
The best chicken sorrantino and red snapper we ever had. Our waiter Will was also among the best. The restaurant is beautiful. The noise level ,however, is unbearable. We are seniors and had to skip coffee and desert because the four of us could not hear each other. I wish they could do something to help with the noise. If so, I would be their every week. It was fabulous.
Food was good ... but ... I felt like I was dining with the cast of Jersey Shore.
I won’t go back. Too noisy and totally obnoxious crowd of 40 year old divorcée’s wearing heavy gold chains ... if you know what I mean.
Btw this was our 2nd attempt at trying this place. Both times same atmosphere.
Not very attentive. Noisy room. Had made an anniversary reservation and they never even brought a desert menu. Just got the bill after we finished eating
Great food served family style. Beautiful rooms and helpful staff. Wished they were open for lunch.
