I am a frequent diner at Yefsi, always enjoying my meal there. However, tonight, my chicken was a little dry so I asked the waitress for some tzatziki sauce to dip it in. Much to my surprise, I was charged for this small ramekin of sauce on my bill.

With the owner usually present, the food and service (great waitress) are consistently excellent. Lunch is the time to go......though dinner is also good, just more crowded and noisy. Highly recommend their healthy choice of Greek dishes.

The best part of Yefsi besides the food is the open area in the back of the restaurant. Next time I go I will remember to call ahead to see if there is a party booked for that room.

We have previously enjoyed the food here. This time, however, one order was incorrect. By the time it was corrected all had finished their food. The guest decided to skip dinner and requested compensation with dessert not an option since it was already waiting at home. The wait staff individual became loud and accusatory. She continued to BLAME the guest. The manager/owner, who was aware of the issue, chose to let his irate inappropriately behaved employee scream and belittle the guest. It was an intolerable inappropriate response on all counts! This is not the way a service business remains successful. We will NOT be returning.

Small portions, big prices on both drink and food. Waiter did his best, but food took forever. The bill took forever. We are probably done with this formerly lovely neighborhood spot.

Fish was unseasoned. Super fresh fish and vegetables but needed seasoning, salt, anything. Tzatziki was delish. Waiter took our appetizer plates before we were finished with them. And said “your meal is coming” but didn’t show up for 10 more minutes. Bizarre evening.

Deafeningly noisy! Can't be helped, I suppose, for a busy and obviously popular place. Otherwise, service was prompt and attentive. Food was delicious. Just impossible to have a conversation with the person next to you or across the table without shouting due to the noise. Seems that's the rule and not the exception in many restaurants these days.

Five of us dined here on Saturday night and loved it! We shared everything and our favorites were: Shrimp Santorini, Soutzoukakia, Gigandes and fried cheese sticks, sort of looked like french fries….forget the official name. Will definitely be coming back…would skip the chicken kebab and try the Kotopoulo Kokinisto instead… perhaps more difficult to share, but it sounded delicious.

East-Side gem with a warm, welcoming service, a laid back unpretentious atmosphere, and simply fantastic food. I could close my eyes and easily imagine being back in Poria or Patras. Everything about Yefsi celebrates Greece. My wife opened with a glass of red from the Agiorgitiko grape - it was warm, round, aromatic, with a bit of spice (think Syrah), and a clean finish. Having eaten here several times before, I went straight for the sangria - it's far too easy to drink - even in winter. The table bread was crusty and silly served its duty delivering a tangy hummus to its intended target. As for the food here overall, there are no bad choices - only great to superb. We've grazed through the menu over the years (we visit NYC at least once a year and dining here is always on the itinerary) and settled on gigantes (massive lime beans in a mildly spicy red sauce) as an appetizer here but could easily be a meal into themselves. To be clear, I hate lima beans, but was talked into trying a bite of them here long ago and haven't looked back. They're awesome. My wife always goes for the lamb chops - doesn't even look at the menu. Served with lemony potatoes, these chops are always served at the desired temperature, well seasoned, and of a lean and meaty cut. I tucked into a splendid paella of mussels, shrimp, and Greek sausage, and orzo in a red seafood base. It was hearty, aromatic, and well prepared - a welcome treat as it is easy to over- or under-cook elements in this dish. Dessert was a sampler with Greek yogurt in a berry sauce, bavklava of the sweetest honey, karidopita, and galatoboureko. Sweet, savory, sour, and sumptuous, these do not disappoint and only improved upon with Greek coffee. We'll be back.

I like it here but I think they rush the food too much and we were one of the only tables there. They barely let you finish the apps when they started clearing the table for the next course. We still had food in our mouth and on our plates. Then the mains came fast. No rush after dinner to leave.

We had a reservation for 7:30 and they were not able to seat us when we arrived. We waited and finally were seated but in the back of the restaurant in the garden area. There was a light that was so bright and my dinner guest asked if there was any way to turn it down and he said it was the wrong bulb but nothing they could do. It was like sitting under a spotlight. In addition there was a fly that was pestering us which seems crazy because it was 35 degrees out! But the worst part was they placed us in that back room and basically forgot about us. We literally passed on dessert because we didn’t want our server to disappear like he had all night and leave us waiting for service. Food is good but service was really lacking and kind of ruined the experience.
