What Insiders Are Saying
Every neighborhood needs a neighborhood restaurant as good as Prospect in Fort Greene.
We always enjoy coming to Prospect, the food is so delicious and the service is great.
One thing I’d like to ask is if they could offer vegan options.
Service was great. Risotto description on menu was misleading. Fish of the day was delicious. Dessert was good but tiny. Would return.
We had a nice meal. The calamari and the bbq pork were very good. The brusselsprouts were less of a hit. The service was very good.
Really enjoyed our meal. The baby back ribs appetizer was amazing. Service was great, very attentive. Space was at a premium.
The food was phenomenal. We were lucky to get the Brussels sprouts special. It was beyond delicious! Great food, great service
We arrived late on a Friday evening. The place was full of energy. Kitchen and bar obviously backed up and we waited quite a long time for our drinks and our food. Quality all the way, and worth the wait.
Wonderful service and food was exceptional.
Excellent consistently. A great place to go before BAM events.
Prospect is our go-to restaurant before performances at BAM or The Polonsky Theater. The stFf is attuned to ensuring you are out before performance time, the food and service are greT, as well as the ambiance. Also good wine selections. What more could one ask?
Ambiance and service were great, so was the food but I wish portions were a bit bigger!
Great food, very nice service, near major cultural events in Brooklyn.
The restaurant is located in Fort Greene and is a cozy restaurant. On walking in it seems small but there is outdoor dining as well as seating on the second floor. The wait staff is friendly, attentive and hard working. There were four of us for dinner. We shared two appetizers. Burrata and a Prospect Salad. There was enough for all of us.
Our entrees were the daily fish, 2 chicken dishes and the Prospect Burger. All were very good, nicely plated and fresh. The chef prides in having local ingredients when ever possible. All in all, it was a very good evening with very good food. We all agreed that we would return.
Prospect is a reliably good place in the heart of Fort Greene. The prices are very reasonable and the atmosphere is comfortable and welcoming.
The meals we had were absolutely delicious! I had Gnudi (for the first time) which was a pillow of delicious with a lovely sauce and vegetables, the sea bass looked delicious and the chicken with beets and beet spaetzle was raved about. There were a ton of nice cocktail choices, including three different Negronis! A fun choice.
I am now a regular customer and my dining experience never, ever disappoints me.
They have a very nice wine selection.
The food is always fresh and flavorful.
I highly recommend the restaurant to anyone reading this who has not dined there yet.
Very good but I would value more regular seafood options
Prospect is in my neighborhood and always good.
A true culinary experience, a great atmosphere and incredible service! Best calamari ever!! Delicious Char and the asparagus was sublime! Dessert is out of this world! Sparking Rose and all in all a tremendously enjoyable experience! Kudos to Executive Chef Jacob Bensley for providing the ultimate dining experience, we will be back soon!
Everything was delicious! All 4 of us enjoyed our food and drinks, and the kitchen was very knowledgable and responsive to celiac disease (gluten intolerance). Would recommend to anyone in the area.
I should have written this review 2 months ago because now I don't remember everything that we had. But it was ALL delicious. We find deviled eggs are hard to pass up on any menu, but these were standouts. Their treatment of the season's highlight – soft shell crab – was superb. I can't recall the rest of the dishes, but they were SO, SO good.
The service I've previously had at Prospect has been hit or miss depending on the waiter. That said, this weekend it was wonderful. We were trying to make a show at Barclay's about part of our out-of-town group was significantly late. They were great about making sure than we had drinks and appetizers and let us know when we needed to order to leave on time for the show. The food is consistently solid foodie cuisine. I love the char and friends rave about the chicken.
Prospect is pricey, but has incredible food and great service. The ribs are outrageous!
Very friendly and accommodating. All the food and cocktails were delicious (including one person's non-alcohol drink).
Great small restaurant within walking distance of Barclays. Excellent food, pleasant service attentive to when we wanted to leave for the show, called to check if we were still planning on dining at the restaurant when we were late due to traffic and accommodated us. despite our late arrival due to traffic. Highly recommend.
The menu was limited, burger was decent we just weren’t overly impressed.
Smoke from cigar bar bit annoying.
Prospect was better than ever on this visit. The spring menu is delicious. I had the very tasty and perfectly cooked Arctic char and my husband had a superb risotto. As always, the service and concern for customer needs is excellent. We always return when we are going to BAM or the Polonsky Theater.
Everything we ordered was great! Excellent value.
Great food, great service. A drawback is that tin ceilings in a small space magnify the noise level, so it can at times be difficult to hear the person across the table. Secondarily, although it is a small place, it is probably large enough that it could use more than one rest room.
Prospect continues to be our favorite location for pre-BAM event dining. The staff is great and sensitive to timing issues.
This little gem far exceeded my expectations and I would expect that from the smaller hipper Brooklyn areas, but this far exceeded this. I will return again and again.
The restaurant is close to BAM, which was why my companion and I ate there. The food was pretty good, but not great. I probably won't return, even when I go to BAM. Most dishes were somewhat lacking in flavor. For example, the chicken liver mousse was okay but didn't have much liver flavor; the charred bread was good but definitely not charred, just heated; the pickled onions were very good.
Dinner before the theater at BAM or The Polonsky is always a great experience at Prospect. Delicious food, excellent service, good wine, nice ambiance. What more can be said? The staff is always cognizant of the need for theater goers to leave on time. We always return here.
A delightful surprise near our neighborhood. Really clever menu choices, I admired the taste of the chef. My vegetarian husband had a great selection and enjoyed his dishes. All very flavorful and well-prepared. Savvy server. It was all in all quite delightful and we'll go back!
Amazing service and food! Delightful. I’ll be back.
Fine food, unpretentious, uncliché. A little expensive but worth it.
It was nice.. The could have a few more items on it even if they are simple items. The dessert menu should be expanded even if it’s an easy dessert lol ice cream and/or cookies or pie and ice cream. We went for a birthday celebration and wanted to sing but neither of the 2 desserts interested us. So that is a missed opportunity for a sale by the restaurant. I think a lot of people celebrate birthdays and anniversaries etc. Also I think the lighting could be improved . Not sure I can put my finger on it but something is missing with the lighting . I don’t mean to complain. I liked the night. It was a nice diverse clientele. The atmosphere was nice, the wine was good and the food was quite nice. All in all a very brooklyn place. I would go back.
Outstanding. Chefs counter and menu was awesome!
The food was average. I had the cod, and it was completely lost in a giant, soggy pastry puff.
Two of my friends had the burgers... they were fine, nothing great. The muscles were in a nice broth, but was served with one, single miserly slice of bread for dipping...
Friendly neighborhood place with an appealing menu and very tuned-in waitstaff and service. Delicious, cozy, fairly priced and great cocktails too. Try the gnocchi.
