Were there for an early Sunday meal. Brunch menu was small but enough items for us. All the food was terrific. Sat outside on the rooftop patio. A perfect day for it. A very small issue was the blowing sound from the HVAC system from a neighbouring building. Enough to be noticed but not enough to be too distracting.
This was my second visit to District. I went when it first opened but was disappointed in the food and the service. I thought I’d give it another try, it’s nice to have a place with multiple vegan options. The service has improved a lot. However, the food is just ok. The dinner portions are not big enough to fill you up. We also ordered the three dips as an appetizer, but the portion size was ridiculously small. Barely enough for one person, let alone three. The ‘guacamole’, which we had to mash ourselves, only had a 1/4 of an avocado in it, which is kind of pathetic. The other two dips came in small cups that ketchup usually comes in. Definitely NOT worth the $12 price.
I was visiting Toronto and was my first time dining at District (I found it on Open Table ). I ordered the naan nachos with chicken and there were TERRIFIC!! if I lived in Toronto I would return frequently, but probably never order any other item because these were TOO GOOD to ever pass.
Nice and varied food options that address different lifestyles. And cocktails were delicious too.
Great food with unique options. A little something for everyone. Not a place if you are in a hurry, however.
Paris (our server) was amazing. My son has allergies and its not easy to find places that he can go to have a great meal. But, Paris took the time to ask questions and then talked with the kitchen to make sure we had options. Son had a great time choosing what he wanted and when the food came he was even more amazed.
We’ll definitely be going back and if you deal with allergies or even if you dont and just want a healthier time out dining...this is the place.
Thanks again, Paris for making a special night even more special!!
Picked the restaurant on a whim and was not disappointed. The atmosphere was okay with some cool decor. The main attraction for me was the number of appealing gluten free options. They were well marked. The food was good and there were enough options what we will be back to try them all.
We went to District Eatery for Summerlicious. I had the mushroom toast (very good) and the zucchini noodles with chicken pesto (also good although the sauce was quite runny and didn't stick to the zucchini 'noodles'). My husband had the mushroom toast and the Bowl of Zen. Unfortunately, there were some very hot peppers cut up in small pieces and sprinkled on top of the ingredients in the bowl, and he took a mouthful of them before realizing how spicy they were. They were so spicy he had to stop eating to cool down and drink water (and most of my beer!). The description of the bowl did not mention spicy peppers. Our waitress advised us to remove the pieces of pepper, which he did - and he was able to eat the rest of his meal after about 15 minutes. Very disappointing as he actually likes spicy food, but he doesn't care for unexpected slivers of very hot peppers! We both finished off with the chocolate torte (this was also very good). A better description of the meal - or a warning about the hot peppers - would have made our experience better. We also found it very noisy.
Service was so slow. We waited forever for her to come and take our drink orders. Then she was asking what we wanted for food right away. We asked for a few moments we’d be there for a while and she was back a sec later. Then nothing. Our food took forever and we asked for a drink menu which took about 15 minutes. And it wasn’t that busy. Just not a great time. We ended up leaving right after eating half our dinner and went to a different place for drinks
Nice place - good vibe. Restaurant, bar and patio sections all good atomosphere
The food at the District is so yummy and good for you. They have great, different cocktails and the rooftop patio is like a little oasis in the middle of the city. One suggestion for the patio, have some fans for the really hot days. Other than that, no complaints and will go back again, so we can try another of their scrumptious offerings.
Had a bite to eat before the Theatre. Good food and ambience, but service was a little slow.
A great restaurant to go to before seeing a theatre show. Good food (delicious, healthy, sizeable portions). Inventive drinks. Lots of variety. Good ambience. Fast and friendly service. Located close to the theatres.
this is the second time I have eaten here and it was just as good as the first...delicious food, good atmosphere, good service, good value for your $ and nicely located just down the street from the theatres. Check it out if you haven't been there - you won't be disappointed
Food was great, close to theatre district. Has a rooftop patio too. The organic beer was delicious.
The staff was very lovely and the food was AMAZING! It was so nice to be able to have healthy options that were extremely delicious!
Decent food, my cocktail was ~ok~ liked being out on the roof deck though :)
Small place with good food .
We always enjoy our time at District and if you're very lucky you might just run into your favorite Blue Jay's back catcher.
Our only complaint is that service can be slow and it can sometimes take a while for someone to notice you standing in the doorway.
Server was great. Flavor profile of food was good, but was only barely warm.
I enjoyed a delicious brunch with my family on the weekend, service was excellent and I especially appreciated the wonderful vegan options on the brunch menu and almond milk. It is so difficult to find restaurants who cater to vegans and non vegans and District Eatery made for a great experience for all at our table!
My boyfriend and I had a fantastic time! The patio was beautiful and peaceful. The service and brunch food were great (and very affordable). We will return!
Great vibe, style, and ambiance. Best for drinks or lunch, not dinner.
The burger and fries were ok. Please stop using ice burg lettuce on the burger. The fries were greasy. My friend had bowl of chicken salad but the portion was very small.
Off the mark a wee bit but overall it was good.
Slow service. We had tickets to a show nearby and our food didn’t arrive for 45 minutes, leaving us 5 minutes to wolf it down. We only ordered starters thinking that would be faster, but it wasn’t .
Food was great, service was a bit slow. Music was too loud
Fantastiic food! We will definitely be back very soon:)
They cancelled my reservation 2 hours before because of the "NBA Finals" - I can only assume they oversold their tables. No call or follow up. Won't be attempting to eat here again.
Really good place to accommodate GF and vegan with meat-eaters
Great healthy options and the cocktails were amazing. It's my boyfriend and I's, new favourite spot
I know it’s theatre district but dinner was very rushed, entrees came just few minutes after appetizer.
District is a great and reliable go to. Fantastic food and above average service. Great location as well.
Our reservation was cancelled by the restaurant because of the Raptors game . Strange that we booked 6:30 and the game was 9 pm. Half the tables were empty and we were told all open table reservations were cancelled . Why give up a sure thing for walk ins ? Doesn’t make me feel valued as a regular customer . Disappointing .
Phenomenal food and great atmosphere. Love all the vegan options!
Great service, and food was excellent!
Great place in the theatre district. Great menu...lots of fresh choices. Food was excellent - salads were imaginative and flavorful. Steak was melt in your mouth tender and perfectly cooked. Will be back!
The menu had a wide variety of options, especially for people with dietary concerns- which is awesome! The food and drink service is reasonably quick, which is excellent. The service itself leaves some to be desired. Our server seemed quite overwhelmed and a little short.
The entire experience surpassed my expectations, it was bad weather outside ,and very early for the theatre. The greeter welcomed us in and said it was fine if we sat and waited until it was time for our reservation. The servers were very attentive, the food delicious and generous portions, being downtown, the prices very reasonable. Well Done!!!
Very good food. Lots of interesting choices. Some choices for vegetarians.
Took a chance on a last minute reservation and was happy we could be seated. Four of us came for a quick pre-theatre dinner and everyone enjoyed themselves. Good, eclectic, variety of foodstuffs on the menu was really appreciated (especially for the picky vegetarian, me) Recommend for a quick meal or longer summer dinner with friends. 👍
