I made reservation for 6:00 . So we could make the show to national theater by 7:30. We sat down and informed waitress of that fact. We ordered a bottle of wine that 10 minutes later she stated was no longer available. So we chose another. After some time she brought empty wine glasses without our second choice . She finally came with a bottle . We immediately ordered appetizer of charcuterie as well as ordered a pastrami sandwich to split. The platter delicious and sandwich never came . Table next to us got appetizers and meals before us. We waited until we could not anymore. We had to get to show. Told waitress we had to leave and comp us for what we didn’t get. As she was checking us out . Meal turned up. We stated to late ... He took it away. We received check. 112.00 check.... she gave us a wine of 90 dollars when we chose a wine completely different. Our fault we didn’t notice beforehand. Basically it was supposed to be a wonderful diner before theatre with my beloved. Ended not so much... After the performance we went back to “Hamilton “ another glass of wine before heading home. Went to bar and were told to step away and go to table so waitress could deliver. Here is the thing. Both me and my boyfriend have been tremendous clients of so many Clydes restaurants and bars. Some of our closest friends are employed by Clydes companies. Never been to Hamilton before. Assumed it would be just like we have always known of goodness. I know nor recommend anyone To Hamilton
Great menu and ambiance
Excellent service, food, and overall a fantastic time!
Too big and old fashioned. Food is sub-standard. Good service.
I like the Hamilton and have been here many times. This visit did not meet my expectations mostly due to service. The server was not attentive (never got refills on drinks) and did not check back with us to see if we needed anything. We had let her know we had theater tickets and the food did come out fairly quickly. But by the time she came back to see if we needed anything (more than 10 minutes after we had finished our food) it was too late to order coffee or dessert. I will go back but will hope for better service.
Dined at the Hamilton following a performance at The National Theater. It was perfect - delicious food, great location, lively atmosphere, great ambiance, and reasonable prices. The wait staff was particularly attentive to our elderly parents who were with us. I would definitely recommend and can't believe I have never been here before!
The restaurant is beautiful; the food was great; the service was good. I would go back.
This was the third time I've dinned at The Hamilton and have not been disappointed. Excellent wait staff service and delicious food.
Great brunch offerings and friendly service. Always a good crowd here.
I think the restaurant itself has potential. Great location, decent menu.... but the waiter we had ruined our experience a bit. Service is everything.
Very good; tables close together but still able to talk to each other.
Food was excellent. The house made pasta was an unexpected surprise. Service at the table was prompt and warm.
Good place to go with friends, is a bit noisy though.
It was wonderful to go and then go and see a play at the National Theatre.
Food was fresh and yummy. I am doing keto and had the french dip without the bread. It was delicious. Service was slow. It took a while to get my club soda/ sparkling water. Food came fairly quickly. Server was pretty absent but service was picked up by rest of the team
The burrata alone is worth it. Amazing brunch, great atmosphere, and genuine service.
Met with colleague for dinner on a Friday night.
Food was very good: she has the miso salmon and I had the steak salad. Asked for bread but it came after the bread. Was disappointed that shrimp and grits weren’t on menu although scallops and grits were.
Great atmosphere wonderful service delicious meal . We really enjoyed The Hamilton.
Great food and nice location. Central to dc area. Wish I could have tried other dishes but we had rice bowl, meatloaf and salmon. Everything was delicious and waiter was very helpful
Server seemed distracted/ uninterested. Food was solid but not stellar. The duck confit was delicious.
Went to dinner with my dad before a show at the National Theater. The food was delicious, the service was amazing and we were pleasantly surprised by the total cost of such a great meal in D.C. We will definitely by returning.
Food was excellent, service was slow.
Fun jumpy place with great food - would recommend to anyone looking for a great bar / restaurant environment.
I have been to Hamilton's several times in the past and even recommended it to several people. I was there in the afternoon this week and it was not crowded. There were in fact an abundance of staff there. The service was horrible by the server for numerous reasons and the food order took way too long. I believe the server forgot to put in my order.
The server was excellent, professional, and friendly and accommodated our need to eat quickly to get to a show. She didn't miss a beat! I appreciated the wide food options and loved everything we had: cornbread grilled cheese, triple salmon sushi roll, the mushroom stroganoff pasta (*amazing* - I keep thinking about it!), and brussels sprouts. I wish I'd had room for dessert or a milkshake.
Beautiful restaurant, great food, friendly service.
Of all the establishments that the Clyde's Group operates - The Hamilton gets it just right with their great menu and super service - work in their Music Calendar (or any other event in downtown D.C.) and you cannot not have a great time. The Hamilton is always a recommended favorite.
The food, service, and the wine selections were excellent. Both food and wine prices were very reasonable. Looking forward returning to the Hamilton soon.
Subday brunch. Took 1hr for food to arrive, although it was not very busy. Food was really good though, well cooked and presented.
Maybe a bad night? Our first time there and left disappointed. Wait staff seemed overwhelmed and mistakes to our order took a while to get corrected. My wife and I ate our meals separately due to this. Should have had them redo both. Did enjoy the Sausage Ragu as an appetizer. Meals were not good.
We ate dinner at the Hamilton restaurant before a late show at the Hamilton Live, the venue downstairs. The meal was fantastic - good food, great service in an energetic environment - and the setting was perfect for a special dinner with family before heading downstairs for the performance. Excellent cocktails, too!
Hanger steak was awful - very tough and not cooked correctly. Service was very slow and less than friendly.
Noise levels are simply too high for seniors to be able to enjoy the meal. We sat at a booth that was so tight that even our slimmest diners had a hard time getting in and out. Go off peak hours and ask for a table if you are in your elder years
Great brunch selection and drinks. The restaurant was busy so service was a bit slow - especially the bar. Staff was pleasant, friendly, and attentive. We'll definitely return.
This was my first time at the Hamilton and it was great! I met some friends for dinner after work and we were seated right at our reservation time. The cocktails were great (I had the Hamilton’s Cosmo—yummy!) and though we didn’t try any starters the main courses were delicious. My hanger steak (with fingerling potatoes and brandy-peppercorn sauce) was cooked perfectly. Next time I definitely want to try the pear and burrata appetizer and one of their boozy milkshakes! The atmosphere was lovely, the service was excellent. I bet the music is great too, though we didn’t have the opportunity to stay for it.
We were there to celebrate my husband’s birthday. We had 8pm tickets to the national theatre and our drinks, appetizers, dinner and dessert all came out quickly so we didn’t have to rush to eat and could get out on time. The food was excellent!
love the booths near the front with French type folding doors
Too loud and food was mediocre at best. Will not be returning.
Go for the 1/2 price sushi hour. Sushi is fresh and generous
I thought the food and service was okay. Didn’t meet expectations. Everything was good, but for the high price, I anticipated more. They were okay with Celiac Disease.
