Unfortunately this was a very disappointing overall experience. This is a pricey tea and I would expect some terrific food and service but I didn’t get that. The service was extremely slow from beginning to end. The tea was warm at best and definitely not hot. The scones were good and the little mini desserts were quite good but way too many. There were four finger sandwiches that were completely bland and boring. They need to increase the amount of savory items and actually season them and significantly decrease the sweets. Completely not wiorth the price. Also they don’t take reservations by phone. You can only do through open table, And there is a five dollar per person nonrefundable charge because they have a lot of no-shows. Why are you punishing me, who never no-shows, because other people do. At least make it refundable if you show up. Never again will I come here

You’ll be able to hire more help if you pay them a decent wage. And charging me a service charge TWICE and then expecting a tip was out rageons. Otherwise, delightful.

The afternoon tea time is really crowded. I made the reservation on OpenTable and charged five dollars per people to reserve the table. I called several days ago to let them give us a window side table. When we arrive on time our table is really tiny and I couldn’t at the window side. Even though I asked to change the table as I saw there are several window side table available, they refused as they said other people will come. ?! The service is really bad. There are only three server but nearly 20 tables. We need wait a long time to order our tea. As the table is so small it couldn’t put three port on the table. The server told us he will pour the tea for us all the time. But The server is too busy to refill our tea cup. After a really really sweet dessert, we really really need a sip of tea. But we need to wait more than 20mins until we call the server. As we are really thirsty. The server change another pot of tea in about one hour later, The dragon tea? (I forgot the name) after I try the new tea, immediately I found it getting worse. I think the tea is expired but they still serve it to us. I complained and I think the server knows and then they change us another pot. So bad experience! Will not recommend to anyone. Even though the service is too bad, they also automatically charge a service fee for 20%. Don’t come to this place please! It’s not deserve your time and money.

Terrible, ridiculous prices, no idea about tea, portions are poor! Sandwich with only one slice of bread: really, is that a sandwich? Do not offer any seconds! Prices to order a second is steep. We were four of us and I don’t even believe they gave us a full portion for each person. They were missing “macrons” and we had to ask! The servers clearly don’t know anything about tea and how it should be served or know what each tea means. Insipid and weak tea, cold and with cold milk! Icing on the cake: no one to greet us at the front. The servers were arguing and wouldn’t want to look at us. Finally came and then it took the longest time to for them to serve us. I don’t know what The Langham is thinking! I would just close shop and go look at what the Huntington Library does or better still go to London to understand the nuances of English Tea. Ideally, I would expect a complete refund and a sincere apology!!

My 73rd birthday tea party at the Langham Pasadena was epic. Our server, Isabel was extraordinary in remembering which of us was drinking one of the four delicious teas. When my daughter asked about gluten-free, we were warned to expect a slight delay, but her beautiful tray of finger foods arrived along with the usual and DELICIOUS offering for the rest of us. The final detail—a lovely pink carrier box of those items we had yet to consume— was perfect. When I returned home, I lifted perfectly arranged boxes of treats from the carrier. A reminder that attention to detail is always noticed.

I usually avoid posting negative reviews, but you’ll see why I have to share our experience. Best friend flew in and we planned out traditional tea outing (we like to try new places each time). Reservations at 1pm. We were sat at 1:10pm right after another party who arrived before us. 1:30 - no table touch, no water, nothing. One of us had to find someone in the prep/bar area, and were told someone would come over. 1:40 tea was served, no water refills. 2pm still no food service, no table touch. Other tables around us were being served. Servers avoided eye contact. We had to stand up to flag the same server to ask about food and told it was coming. 2:10 we stood up and asked the server for the bill for the tea because we were leaving. They promised again to bring food out, but too little too late. That’s not the white glove service expected at the Langham tea - $20 non-refundable reservation fee and 1.25 hours after our reservation time. Wish I could comment on the food, but we didn’t get any.

While the Langham is a beautiful hotel the Tea service is not up to par. My tea was cold and we had to ask for spoons and milk. Butter and lemon curd on the table, but not explained- I didn’t realize until the end of the tea. No clotted cream. Only 4 small tea sandwiches, no fruit. We were given an overwhelming amount of desert bites making the whole meal a little bit too sweet for my taste. There was a harpist who played wonderfully throughout the tea service.

Service was mediocre. Vegetarian friend told them he was vegetarian and they forgot. No silverware. No kids option so had to pay full price for an 8 year old that had a few bites. That hurts when it’s $75 a person. For the prices I expect exceptional service and that wasn’t there. Also didn’t live the person FaceTiming half the time we were there. Ruins the mood when that overpowers the harp. Will be going to The Biltmore for tea from now on.

A few years ago (you can find my review in this thread) the experience was a bit of a mixed bag. This visit was much, much better. One key difference: serving on tiered plates at the table, instead of a 'buffet'. When we prepared to leave, the packaging for the 'leftovers' was much, much better than our last visit--I'd still prefer biodegradable packaging (e.g., the sort I've used at Whole Foods Market's food court), but the containers are re-usable and sturdy, and we placed them in a _Langham_ box, much more appropriate (instead of a plastic bag). The staff were helpful, kind and good-spirited. We happened to see a family who was attending an event, and the birthday celebrant was able to receive a photo with her friends as they passed by. I'm glad that we tried again, and hope that the Company will continue to offer good experiences like this--this was a far better value for the price, than what we had a few years ago. I've had afternoon tea many times during my life in Chicago, the Drake and the Ritz Carlton Water Tower became my comparison points. This is similarly good.

Thank you for bringing back the Tea Room! We have been enjoying this for years and have cherished memories. This year, we celebrated a Langham weekend with our adult daughters. We spent three hours enjoying the tea, ambience and food. Everything was as we remembered from years ago and we all hope to continue this tradition.

Beautiful and historic venue made for the well heeled but somehow gets away with mediocrity at a premium. Also, for the Downton tea service... we wouldn't know. Our reservation was for 3. The host was even oresent till 3:10pm. By the time we left at 3:25pm having paid for valet and losing $20 to reserve, we still hadn't been seated.

Reserved table a month ago, when you check in still need to wait almost an hour to get seated. We have a big party for 7, they put 2 tables together with different levels for us. The menu said you can have your choose of tea, but the servers said we can only have 3 pots of tea for our table for no reason. When the tier came, no one introduced the food, we need to look up the menu on the website by ourselves. However, they did introduced each food items for the other tables. The 4 set came in a tier, the sandwich was overlapping and was too hard for us to get the food. We just dropped some of it since they put it too crowded. Food is okay, but still bad experience. I would said below standards for a luxury hotel.

The tea was very elegant and the setting was fabulous. All staff were professional and friendly. The price was a bit high for the amount of sandwiches and tea cakes and the scones were a bit stale. They have added a 20% surcharge that did not include gratuity so that was a surprise. Over all it was a nice experience. Loved the Downton Abby theme

First there was a charge of $5 per person which did not get applied to the balance. 2nd we were the 1st guest and asked to change our tablet of 5 to another tablet of 5 and the hostess would not do it. The food was ok, there was no Devon Cream, there were two small lemon cured and whip cream for 8 scones and 5 people!. The desert we did not touch as it did not seemed homemade. The hostess had a gold fanny bag in front of her which was not suitable for a hotel hostess and yet for a Bridgeton one! It said it was sold out yet 75% of tablets empty. With service charge and the $5 above we each paid $94 per person which I would not mind, but it did not worth it AT ALL

Everything was very delightful and harmonious. We had various waitresses helping us during our tea time. However, there was one waitress that was only making eye contact and smiling towards my friend, and even when I said something to engage with her or said to her thank you, she didn’t even looked at me to acknowledge that, which made me feel as if I was invisible. Other than that, everybody else were very kind and friendly. I booked this reservation and paid for the service, there should at least be respect and consideration. Thank you.

For this price, it should be the best high tea ever but it’s not even close. The ambiance is so lovely and the service is quite good. But thats where the positive ends. The sandwiches are very thin and tasteless. Very unimpressive. The scones are just ok. The sweets are fair and way too many. The tea is quite good and pretty hot. In summary, the price is extravagant and the food is nowhere near what it should be. Very disappointing. For such a lovely hotel, they need to do so much better.
