I showed up for my reservation and the restaurant was closed 3-4 days before. Opentable never notified me. To then get another email asking how my experience went just feels like another jab. We were a large group celebrating a bride-to-be on a Saturday night. We weren’t able to find another restaurant since we had all traveled from out of town. Of course I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant, but I also wouldn’t recommend OpenTable.

Oddly, when we arrived at Prepkitchen for our reservation, the restaurant was closed. I was wondering why I was not able to previously get through to them when I called to change the number in our party. We were told by a couple walking by that the restaurant had shut down unexpectedly. Thankfully there were plenty of good restaurants to eat at in Little Italy.

We had reservations for dinner last night with our out of town guests. We received email confirmation earlier in the day. When we got to restaurant at 8:15 last night, it was closed. No note on the door, no calls or emails from restaurant. Not sure what happened, but bad management to not let guests know what was going on. Needless to say we had a hard time finding another place for dinner on a Saturday night in Little Italy without a reservation.

They are closed. I made reservations through open table and the restaurant was no longer in business. This is unacceptable and I will no longer use this service.

with all the dining options in Little Italy, this is an okay option. The menu was somewhat limited in my opinion, our server was good but not great and the food was just okay also for us.

Awful, awful service. Ordered drinks and didn’t get them for 20 mins. Was told that the ticket was lost and that wasn’t our waitress’s responsibility. Was never asked if we wanted to order food, and we were there for dinner. Complained - considering the place was empty - and was offered no explanation. Will never go back. This place doesn’t deserve a second chance considering all of the better options in Little Italy. No wonder it was empty while two conferences were in town!

Hip vibe for this upper lever restaurant. Cozy atmosphere. Pleasantly surprised they had a kids menu. All food was flavorful and visual presentation was exceptional. My duck liver pate was lush and the balsamic reduction was great. The toast crisps were flavorful as it was toasted with herbs and olive oil. my lamb slider was also tasty with a perfect amount of Gorgonzola. The pretzel bun is always a huge hit. The fries were more like frites: thin and crispy. Perfectly seasoned. My child’s steak with quinoa looked picture perfect. Steak medium rare. Broccoli was cooked with plenty of bite left. He was happy. What a gem of a find in the noisy hustle and bustle of Little Italy!

Everything went well. It was Valentine’s Day and very romantic. Except for the fact that they had tables very close together so it didn’t give much privacy. Next time I’ll ask for a more private table.

This was our first time at this restaurant. It was excellent. It was a limited menu, but we had the chicken and wild mushrooms, both were excellent. Wine list is limited, but we definitely will return.

We always visit Prep when we come to SD! Blueberry cake is the best, chilaquiles are a staple, the infused G&T is a fun peppy drink and I love the corner table under the tree! See you soon

Quiet night but service was incredibly slow. Had to wait for 5 minutes to be seated even though there was nobody waiting. Menu was very limited compared to online menu with non vegetarian entree options. Goats cheese and beet salad arrived with almost no cheese. They did add more after I complained. Fish tacos were cool when they finally arrived. No apologies for slow service. Also brought the bill to us while one guest was still eating their entree. Really!!! I used to like PreKitchen, especially the one in Del Mar, but after this experience it will likely be my last. Too many good restaurants to waste time on mediocre service and to be honest overpriced and way undersized portions.

We were extremely disappointed with our Christmas Eve dinner at Prep Kitchen. We have eaten there several times before and it has always been one of our favorites. However, this last meal was not what we have experienced in the past. The portions were very small and it was very overpriced. Additionally, most of what we ordered was not up to the usual caliber of Prep Kitchen. We were also charged for refills on sodas and kids’ lemonades and the menu was limited. Unfortunately, we will not be back.

Good place, about my 3rd time there, first since they got sold i think. Food was good, but not as great as previous trips. May have just been the dishes we ordered. Brussell sprouts, lobstor roll and mac and cheese were all new for me. good, just not that special. I tried some different things. Overall a fun night. Still recommend.

Cocktails were well done but pasta was flavorless with a less than ideal texture. Brussels sprout appetizer was excellent with perfectly crisped but not burned outer leaves with smoky bacon and just salty enough cheese.
