Took a client there, party of 6. Good service. Good variety of food. I had a ribeye and it was very good.
Solid menu with a variety of great food choices. Friendly and efficient service.
Good service and atmosphere, awesome shrimp cocktail but one of the worst steaks ever! It was supposed to be a filet split for two but it clearly looked like it was from two different cuts of meat - tasteless and chewy.
Chicago Marathon celebration
Great food, excellent service! Our waiter was incredible! Really incredible, understood special requests and made sure everything was perfect!
I was in Chicago for the marathon and wanted to try a steak, I was very impressed and would highly recommended eating here
Excellent servcie and good food, although not real crowded at the time
Delicious place for a business lunch!
The butter had a weird flavor
Our waiter, Wanda, was friendly and helpful. Very grateful for the gluten-free menu choices.
My husband and I enjoyed our 23rd wedding anniversary. Our waitress Heidi was exceptional. She made sure everything was perfect and even bought us a dessert to celebrate. Highly recommend this restaurant. More food than you can eat! Artichoke dip and lobster tails were wonderful! Ask for Heidi if you want a waitress who is friendly, knowledgeable and cares about her patrons experience! Thank you Heidi for making my husband and my anniversary dinner so nice!

Exceptional service and great food
We loved this place. Carlos was a great server and the ambiance was cozy and reminded us of the old supper clubs. Not a hipster club vibe if that's what you're looking for. Elegant and stylish with great food (ample portions) and attentive staff.
My first experience with the Grill was by accident. My girlfriend and I were out and about downtown Chicago and needed a place to eat. I suggested the Grill and I am really glad I did. I loved the atmosphere and the wait staff are awesome. The food was so good and the presentation was beautiful. We have since been back twice on her birthday because she loves it so much. Neither of us have been disappointed. We tell people about it all the time! This is one of my favorite places in Chicago to get something to eat.
Excellent service from Joel our waiter!!! Fod was delicious!
Quick and easy, simple breakfast.
We dined on the patio for the Friday night Prime Rib special. The food was great and the service was even better. Octavio could not have been better.
Fantastic meal and service. Bridget’s personal attention was a real plus, directing us to excellent main dish selections (especially the short ribs!) and sides. We will definitely be adding The Grill to our list of Chicago favorites.
Fantastic attentive service. Great food. We will be back again
Had a very tasty dinner with business colleagues. The meals were more expensive than the advertised $, so I was a little worried about budget. The steaks are all over 50$ each and a la carte. The oysters were small but tasty, and the calamari was cooked just right. I had lamb chops with a side of Brussels Sprouts, all were very good. Service was very good, attentive but not overly intrusive. All in all a good experience but something to be careful if you have a budget to stick to.
First time visiting The Grill on the Alley restaurant. The other members of the party as I were tremendously pleased with the meal, service, and the ambience of the outdoor seating. Our server was attentive to the needs of our table and our entrees were served hot. We did have one disappointment, we did not have room for dessert. I cannot speak for the other members of the party, but I personally will come back as well as tell others about The Grill on the Alley. Thank you for a great dining experience.
We were met at the door by a most impressive gentleman who took us straight to our table and introduced us to Dennis, our friendly and very competent server. My only disappointment was an overly spiced chicken based BLT. I would certainly return to the Grill, but I would make a different menu choice.
Chef can't cook! The broccoli was too hard to cut and eat, and the Prime Rib tasted oppressively like grazing in "prime thyme"!!! I couldn't eat it. The salad was fresh and delightful and the baked potato was fine, as was the service. The Manager was sensitive to the food issues and very gracious....she deserves a good, basic chef to compliment the front of the house! Anyone who has ever made Print Rib knows that salt, pepper and a bit of garlic on a good piece of meat is all one needs to make me rave about my favorite food, Prime Rib!
Stopped here for lunch with a business associate, ate outdoors. Nice location albeit a bit busy with traffic. Attentive staff for the most part...nice wrap for lunch. I've been to The Grill on the Alley in Beverly Hills a bunch of times and had some great steak dinners there...which is their strong suit. May have to try this location to see if it's the same quality...but so many other choices in this area, my current favorite being Maple & Ash...
As always great atmosphere and service. Meets all expectations for classic sophisticated but relaxed city dining, with menu variety that can please most. My favorites include the chicken pot pie, and fish & chips.
Great atmosphere. The food was good (scallops, halibut) with the exception of the calamari which was chewy, bland, and did not like sauce. All in all, had a nice time.
This is one of my favorite restaurants to go to when we are in Chicago they have a great atmosphere superior service and without the snootiness you can get sometimes get. PS the crab bisque is one of the best I’ve ever had
We had a wonderful experience at The Grill. It was a special occasion celebrating our anniversary. The service was stellar. The food was excellent. The wine selection was ample. I highly recommend dining here!
Went for a birthday lunch. A bit pricey for lunch but excellent service
The Grill on the Alley is one of my four most favored restaurants. The food is great, the service outstanding and the atmosphere can go from quiet to energetic, dependent on crowd size. Excellent for business meal or friends get together.
Recent times have found me going more often due to schedules at nearby offices and I am never disappointed by the meal or the staff.
Being right on the Mag Mile only adds to the appeal for those who want shopping and or tourist destinations.
The Grill on the Alley once again delivered a lovely meal. We were getting together with friends after not seeing them for months.
The staff supported our desire for a leisurely meal. Very professional, unobtrusive service at the pace we wanted.
Well made cocktails.
The food was the comfort food we all were looking for - chicken pot pie as wonderful as always, brick chicken delicious and generous portion, burger, and skirt steak salad - delicious (not a large amount of skirt steak).
After picking this for a special occasion, it was terribly disappointing. The waiter rolled his eyes when asking for recommendations & steered us to the most expensive things on the menu.
The crab cake was fishy; mashed potatoes like mud & the broccoli Parmesan was burned with barely cheese. The steaks were ok but very over priced.
The serving of wine was decent.
I did become ill from dinner upon return to our hotel. Very over priced, barely adequate food & crummy service. The place was unimpressive despite its build up. Location is all it has going for it unfortunately. Many better choice in Chicago.
The Caesar salad- always my favorite, was horrible. Not much lettuce and could have gotten it anywhere. Very disappointing.
we love this place because the food is fabulous and the service is great. We love to go there for lunch and or dinner. We always have a great dining experience. It is a wonderful gem to have in the neighborhood.
Food and wine were delicious. Our server was the best - charming and accommodating. Would definitely recommend
Bridgette was exceptionally attentive but not at all annoying. She gave us great advice on dinner selections. We were seated in a nook, and for our party of 8, it was great! We had a round table and were able to converse easily across table. The food was expensive but delicious.
We were there on a Saturday so it was pretty quiet. Fantastic chicken pot pie-the main reason we went. Also, Ruben was great- Large portions, great service.
Subdued yet impeccable menu and service. Delicious business dinner on a Saturday night. Walls are packed with hundreds of pieces of art, some of which are perfectly respectable, some that are cheeky and unexpected. Makes for fun wall-gazing. Had the lobster bisque, lobster mashed potatoes (full of lobster chunks) and a perfectly cooked 12 oz. filet. Didn’t flinch at the $100+ per person total because it was so good and servings were very generous. Joel provided excellent service.
Top quality food and service.
Good food and great place for a business lunch. Not overcrowded and not too expensive. Will be back.
