Spindleshanks American Bistro and Wine Bar represents the best of both old and new Lake Tahoe. Opened in 2000 by partners Steve Marks and Harman Schuchmann, the restaurant has become a Tahoe Vista institution in a short amount of time. By offering regional American cuisine and a variety of wines in a casual atmosphere, the pair created a dining experience that caters to both large families and couples seeking a romantic evening.

When I'm in town which is monthly, I always make a point of eating at Spindleshanks at least twice during my visits. Great atmosphere, delicious food and good service.

We loved the Tomato cheese salad special and the trout! The veal mushroom pasta dish was rich but delicious. The Apple crisp was a little bland but still good. Service was responsive. We will definitely return!

Beautiful site, friendly service, good food except for the artichoke which was old and tough. Wedge salad was great

Super setting, good to great food, ginormous portions…. Friendly and attentive service. They seemed genuinely happy to be busy, and to have a full restaurant. I’ll be back

We were lucky enough to be able to dine on the deck alongside the golf course because the evening was so warm. Our server was welcoming and openly pleased with working at Spindleshanks. My duck was flavorful without being fatty and my partner’s trout was also cooked perfectly. Caution: The warm bread is addicting! The ambiance, upbeat server and great food made for a memorable dining experience. Highly recommend.

Spindleshank's is PERFECT. Highly recommended. Great food and many good choices. Prices are very reasonable for the quality. Our waitress was very informative and provided outstanding service. We live here and it is always one of our top (if not top) choice. You will never be disappointed.

As usual, we had a really nice evening at this restaurant. The owner Steve has been in the restaurant business for decades and has created a very pleasurable spot to dine in both the winter and out on the deck in the summer.
