Shortly after the original Sant Ambroeus opened its doors in Milan in 1936, a devoted following emerged. This celebrated pasticceria and confetteria became the meeting place for the local intelligentsia, whether beginning their day with Sant Ambroeus's legendary cappuccino and cornetto, savoring panini at lunch, or spending their evening enjoying refined cuisine in the restaurant's elegant dining room.
We translated these old-world sensibilities of Sant Ambroeus to modern times, and imported our rich culinary traditions to New York. Each of our restaurants remains authentic to our Milanese origins, and we continue to serve our culturally inspired delectables in a casual yet elegant environment.

The food is very good but the experience was lacking. For that kind of money, you don't expect kids to be climbing the banquette behind you and peering over your table. You don't expect to be sitting in a small room at the back of a cafe. And you do expect the service to be exceptional; maybe even a plate of biscotti at the end of the meal? A vegetable for the table? Some olives or parmesan cheese? Nothing! We spent $500 on dinner for four and the manager would not even let us split a glass of wine. I will never be going back there!

Food was good but service not. The waiter was very rude since the moment we step on the patio. We asked him to please turn on the gas heater and he said let me see what I can do, really????? Runner was very polite and friendly I hope the tip we left was all for him. Hope the summer bring a better attitude for the waiter.

I met with extreme resistance to serve us outside for a birthday lunch on a March pandemic day. At every opportunity, it was indicated to my party that they did not want to be there. I expected better of this establishment, I have received more elegant service from a city coffee cart.

We came here on a Tuesday around 6:30. We were happy to see that the place was fully booked. 5 minutes after we sat down a group of people came in and sat at a table not far from ours. To no fault of the restaurant the whole room started smelling like an ashtray. I asked for us to be moved but nothing else was available. We ordered artichoke salat and burrata with grilled vegetables. Both appetizers were very good. After that we had the fresh pasta with mussels which was delicious and the spaghetti alle vongole which was barely edible. I love spaghetti alle vongole. I had it many times, mostly in Italy, and I thought this would be a good place to have it. Not so!! The only thing I could taste was garlic. Nothing else. The clams looked beautiful but if you wouldn't see them you wouldn't know they were there. Very disappointing. We ordered a $ 16 glass of pinot grigio which was good but not cold enough and a Brunello for $ 29 which was not what we hoped for. The whole dinner came to $ 220. I would certainly not go back.

I had the Tuna carpaccio appetizer and Sea Food Risotto and both were incredible! The selection of wine by the glass is always exceptional especially if you do not want to drink a whole bottle. The service is the perfect balance of attentive but not annoying. I have been to other Sant Ambroeus restaurants and Southampton and Palm Beach are my favorite. Worth every penny for an amazing experience every time.

The food is always exceptional. By far the best restaurant in the Hamptons. We were six and ordered one extra dish to share. It was my husband’s birthday. Everything was prepared with care cooked perfectly and incredibly delicious. Pasta just right, veal tender and delicious, linguini and clam sauce divine. Service impeccable. A fantastic restaurant with high quality food and service. You cannot go wrong.

The service was attentive and friendly. Standout appetizers were the grilled octopus and tuna tartare. We each had equally delicious pastas. I have never had a better tagliatelle alla bolognese. Perfect place for Saturday lunch with friends.

For the price point I expected a very good experience. We were visiting from DC and traveling with our dogs so we sat at the outdoor patio. 1. A friend of the waitstaff (waitstaff brought food out to the driver and passenger) without disabled decal parked in front of the restaurant. We had a decal and had to park several doors down. 2. I asked for aioli and was not given one, the person acknowledged my request which led me to believe I would be getting aioli 3. I had to ask the waitstaff to refill my glass of water and she walked right be me, filling the water glass of another diner sitting with me 4. We ordered another side of roasted potatoes and it never arrived. I had to walk in the restaurant and to ask for the bill and only then was told our potatoes were given to another table. I’m glad we only ordered the overpriced paninis and not the overpriced pasta, because I just wanted to leave and forget about our lunch experience.

I celebrated my 50th birthday here. The service was terrible, as in it seemed like you were short waitstaff. Took forever to order food, and longer to receive utensils, water, and wine. Food is not as good as used to be.

My husband and I were very disappointed at this place. While the outdoor seating area was lovely, the food was less than stellar. We ordered broccoli as our appetizer and it was soggy and bland. I ordered the breaded veal with arugula and tomato salad. The veal was tasteless(no seasoning) and extremely dry. The staff seemed annoyed(and rude) when i asked for a steak knife(twice). We will not be going back.

Exquisite, as always! Everything from the food (especially fresh out here in the Hamptons), to the service (friendly and charming) and the ambiance (the Alley is like a lovely little secret garden) was superb! We love coming to Sant Ambroeus, time and time again.
