Let me start with the fact we are huge sushi fans and have had it all over the world. My husband had visited this restaurant before and raved over it but indicated it seemed to have changed. Virago’s was good but nothing special and a bit pricy for the product, overall service and presentation. If the food and service better probably would have been fine. We ordered from the regular and premium menu. The lobster shooter was tasty but would have like larger piece of lobster and would have be fine with a higher price. It was just minuscule but delicious. My daughter had the crunchy California roll and said it was ok nothing special and a lot like the one you can get at Kroger for 1/3 price. I didn’t try it. My husband had the sashimi which he said was tasty but nothing special. The presentation wasn’t special either. He said when he had come in the past the presentation was awesome at this restaurant. I had the premium hand hamachi hand roll that had no rice which I loved. We had. AR IOU’s other rolls that were all really good but nothing special for the price. Over all good restaurant and I would return.

We LOVE Virago!!! Our waiter was amazing on Thursday and the Brussels sprouts..well we got a second order! Missed the stone steak off the menu (current option is $$$$$) so that part was sad :(

I was really impressed with the service at Virago. I was there this past weekend with girlfriends. We were visiting Nashville for a girls weekend and this restaurant had been recommended. We had reservations, but when we checked in our table wasn’t ready and we headed to the lounge for some wine. Enjoying each other’s company, we didn’t really mind that we still had to wait 30+ minutes to be seated. However, after a great meal and friendly service (by Cassidy), the manager came over with our bill letting us know she comped a few things since we had to wait so long and thanking us for our patience. It’s so rare for something like this to happen without a customer complaint (which we did not give) so I thought this spoke volumes about the level of service Virago is looking to uphold. I would definitely go back!

Nice ambiance. They have a plush lounge area and bar to sit in while you wait for your table. The crispy brussel sprouts (add parm and truffle oil) and the dumpling appetizers are a must try. Small delay between drink orders and someone coming to take our food order, but it was a Friday night. Food came relatively quickly. Overall, fantastic experience. Tempted to Uber Eats those crispy brussels on the daily.

Overall, we had a great time at the restaurant. The only reason I ranked the food with four stars is because I enjoy more esoteric sushi/sashimi and fish choices otherwise everything was excellent. Thank you.

We came from NYC so yes we are into good food! I thought the place was very cool, though they sat us in the sushi bar area, which wasn’t too exciting. The sushi was very good. The miso soup was cold and very salty. They reheated it for us, service was super slow. It’s was a nice experience, Overall - good.

We had reservations made and came on time and waited another thirty minutes to be sat. Other than that our service was good but we waited in the lobby for awhile before being helped

This place is amazing!! Great Sushi, but the real treasure are the Shrimp Dumplings. So stinkin’ awesome I had to order a second order in the middle of dinner!! Top notch service and great atmosphere. Can’t wait to go back!

If you love sushi, and are looking for a nice date spot, Virago is perfect. The menu is tapas style, that includes a large selection of sushi rolls. Everything was delicious. The staff were amazing, nice, and very knowledgeable about the menu selections. I will definitely go back, and I highly recommend to anyone and everyone. :)

The experience is the best point of Virago, its a very nice place with a lot of interesting food. The price you pay for that food is exorbitant. For instance, the $25 Dim Dum Flight is 3 pork, 3 shrimp and 3 veggie gyoza, all of which are small for gyoza. Its outlandishly expensive and the waiter did not mention at all what was included. For $25 you would expect something substantial, at least on par with their large and delicious sushi rolls. Speaking of sushi, its good, but overpriced as well. Go to any Sushi place in Nashville and you'll get similar quality at a lower price. If you want to spend $100+ on a dinner for two and leave hungry, head to Virago.

I always roll my eyes at bad reviews because you can't please everyone, however sadly I have to be one of those people. The staff is friendly and the restaurant is very nice. But, the quality of the fish is not good. It could be so much better if they sourced better fish. I was even a little worried about getting sick. Maybe it was just an off night............

I always enjoy dining at Virago. Their sushi is creative with such dynamic flavors. Drinks are well crafted and compliment a lot of the sushi rolls quite well.

Great food and service- they only thing that was not great was the table next to us cooking something at the table that was creating a lot of smoke blowing into our hair ugrrrr Thankfully we were leaving or we would have to change tables

Know before you go. Virago has some great tasting food and great sushi, sashimi and nigiri. The caution is to understand the menu. The edamame, and umami wings are both pretty flavorful and, in my opinion, too heavy with salt (soy). So go light there and do the stone steak (caution on self-salting around stone) and definitely lots of sushi. Will recommend and will be back.
