The year was 1943, and Jim and Alice Wimmer decided to take a big risk, buying a small existing roadside restaurant known for its char-broiled steaks. How fitting that in 2018, the restaurant's 75th anniversary year, the third generation of Wimmers, Amy Wimmer, takes the helm from her father Jeff and his wife Jane, bringing her own adventurous spirit to the Del-Bar, the same kind of spirit she so admired in her grandparents. Now with The Del-Bar's recent celebration of its 80th year anniversary, it is still family owned and operated by third generation sisters Amy Wimmer and Anne Stoken.

                                                    First time at the Del Bar and the service and food exceeded our expectations. The steaks were tremendous, well cooked and so tasty. There were quite a few people in the restaurant, yet it was well orchestrated as regards overall service. It was impressive how all staff members pitched in from taking our orders to setting up and cleaning off the table to asking our party if we needed anything to complete our dining experience. Will definitely be going back.

                                                    With the approach of 'Season' in the Wisconsin Dells, the opportunity for an exceptional meal gets more challenging with the expanding number of visitors and tourists. A later-than-usual reservation at Del-Bar offered a master class in fine dining. Service can be exceptional, and every member of the staff tries to do their best. Among the best servers is Jessie who offered pitch-perfect service throughout the night. The meal itself was magnificent -- clam chowder; crisp garden salad and, one of my favorites, the goat cheese salad; pan-fried walleye and blackened halibut. While the Del-Bar is rightly known for exceptional steaks, they continue to outperform on their fish entrees. Anyone who hasn't tried the walleye, halibut or salmon entrees should treat themselves to an exceptional experience. Even their Friday Night cod fish fry is heads above the options offered elsewhere. While we passed on dessert, a freshly prepared Brandy Alexander split for two was the perfect conclusion to a great meal. Well done, Del-Bar

                                                    This is an outstanding restaurant. The food is great and the people are even better. We would recommend Del-Bar to everyone. We will be back!

                                                    This was such a special place! It is one of the most highly rated restaurants in Wisconsin Dells since 1943 for good reason! Loved the retro ambiance. We sat in the bar area for drinks waiting for our reservation (we were a bit early) and had a chance to watch how attentive all of the staff were to guests. This place is classy, iconic, and clearly well run. The food was outstanding (hands down one of the best steaks I've ever had), the atmosphere classy and yet supper club chill, and our server Cailee was very friendly, personable, and prompt. My fiancé is in the hospitality field and we understand how much work goes on behind the scenes and how challenging it is to find great staff that understand those soft skills. We watched server after server be friendly, professional, polite, and yet assertive when needed (a server addressed a table of ladies that was being obnoxiously loud and she did so with great care and was a class act). Fantastic food is a start, but what really sets this place apart is the service. This meal was an event and the way dining should be - classy, great food, and wonderful service. We definitely recommend Del Bar and we will for sure be back!

                                                    Took another couple with us because we enjoyed it the other times we’ve been here. They were very impressed with the food AND the excellent service! Usually one of those 2 items falls short. Not here. Btw make reservations. I wish it was closer to where we live.
