Mac and cheese with ketchup chips stuck in it like little flowers. How playful. How delicious.
Lentil chili and tater tots . Fabulous.
Grilled cheese and tomato soup combo .... amazing.
A grilled cheese to die for. Just enough gooey and stingy cheese. A spear of dill pickle secured with a toothpick on the side of the sandwich made it elegant ..... but not.
Tomato soup. Best ever.
Love the Canadian comfort food ambiance. Relaxed. Great service.
Have been to Bannock pre theatre and after work and just 'cos I like it. And recommend it whenever I can.
...I have already recommended Bannock to a friend who is going on the weekend :-)
Very tasty lunch before our show!
Good food with Canadian twist.
The duck poutine pizza is awesome (a lot of food, though - serves at least two).
Had Saturday brunch with 2 friends this past Saturday. We were greeted at the door and seated promptly. Our waiter (sorry I didn’t get his name) was very knowledgable and attentive. My baked salmon was cooked perfectly, and the accompanying lentils were very good (not a combination I would have thought of before!)
One suggestion - serve the raspberry tart drink in a stemmed glass to avoid fingers from the maple sugar around the rim of the glass. Otherwise it was a lovely drink.
My friends also pronounced their Eggs Benedict and salads very good as well.
Pre-theatre dinner w guests from England
Great food and service
Delicious meal and good drinks. Interesting and varied menu options. Very good value. Excellent service. Very moderate noise level. Overall an excellent dining experience; will certainly return, and recommend to others.
We always have a great time at Bannock!
Had to prompt the waitress to give us the drink and menu specials. She seemed like she wanted to spend as little time as she could at our table!
The dishes on the menu could have used some sides, like salads. Tasty food, but plates lacked variety.
Great food & huge portions! Only minor complaint would be very expensive glass of wine, why does there have to be such a mark up!
Great Canadian dishes, excellent service and great location.
Pretty good spot for lunch. Fair prices, good quality food. Service was a bit spotty when busy. Wait staff are not eager to help each other out. Overall, a good experience.
This restaurant advertises itself as selling Canadian comfort food, and their food is exactly that. The bannock is warm and soft, much like naan bread. I would recommend the smoked meat poutine and the butter tart.
Great experience. Continue to go here. Note I made a reservation online unaware that the kitchen closed in half hour after arrival. Guests were late and I felt bad holding things up. Maybe note that online or change available times online? Service was so accommodating.
The food was delicious and a sizeable portion. I had the eggs benedict on bannock bread along with a mimosa. I have told numerous friends about the food and service since being at Bannock on Sunday.
With my wife's and my experience with the Bannock and we have been 4 times maybe 5 the food different each time has been fantastic.
Our server Nick S was so good he made our dinner a great experience.
Thankyou Bannock and our Server Nick S
Enjoyed our time at Bannock very much. I had the chicken pot pie and it was delicious. My friend also enjoyed her vegetarian Bannock. I found the restaurant to be very relaxing and the wait staff were not hovering to move us along. I would definitely go back if I was attending another show downtown.
We were eating dinner before Come From Away.
Might be fun to take $2 off the baloney sandwich or other food from the Rock if you show your ticket.
Our party had some good dishes and not so great dishes. Everyone who had the fishwich sandwich was not impressed. The salmon dish had good reviews. Service was good.
I had a very pleasant experience! I came with a group of friends for Summerlicious. The quiet ambience was perfect for carrying out conversation. The timing of the food was perfect too. I absolutely love their soup - not too creamy, with the right kick of spice. I will certainly visit again.
Only con is the scaffolding outdoors. It didn't make for the prettiest view of Toronto, yet the service indoors was fantastic.
Food was amazing! And arrived very hot. Salmon was cooked to perfection. Kitchen was a little backed up, but when we told our server we had a time deadline, she stayed on top of it, and got the dessert and bill through very quickly. All staff we encountered were very friendly and welcoming. Will definitely come back here again!
My mom and I visited Bannock for the first time during Summerlicious 2019. The food was amazing and our server, Zach, was fantastic. We will definitely be back soon.
Summerlious 2019. Food was very good, brownie dessert yummy. Very noisy so it's not good for conversation.
It was good food and service but the noise level was
The food was amazing. The server didn't give us any attention, we had to ask another server for water.
After the amazing food, we waited for about 10 minutes before we found our sever for the bill.
Summerlicious menu is a great idea but the food itself was underwhelming.
Fish was greasy and soggy. Not well cooked at all. The chips were delicious but over half the chips were little ends.
Cauliflower steak could have used more sauce and grilling. Kind of a boring dish.
We enjoyed our starters very much (Mac n cheese, fatoush)
The Panna Cotta was warm. I've never had warm Panna Cotta before. Maybe it's supposed to be but it felt wrong.
Service wasn't as on par as past experiences. The food was good, but for some reason they had run out of one of their featured drinks before noon.
did the summerlicious and the jerk chicken was small and the plain chips were little bit, better off doing the mac & cheese as part of the meal if anything. Won't be back anytime soon
Went for the summerlicious menu. Ordered the fried Mac and cheese to start. It was very tasty despite parts of the coating being slightly burnt. The lamb Ragu parpadelle was not good. My first bite of the lamb was extremely chewy and had an off-putting taste. After this, I was put off and I did not want to continue eating it. Half the meal was compensated after I asked.
Great evening! Server was terrific! I was disappointed that they ran out of the lamb dish on Summerlicious! I had my heart set on that. The fish/shrimp cake was very good but not what I'd hoped for.
My friends and I were at Bannock last Monday for dinner. We were mostly impressed with the service but not so much with the quality and taste of the food. Perhaps we just have very higher expectations when it comes to taste.
Summerlicious lunch with co-workers. 3 of us booked early 11:45 to try to get out on time by 1pm. It started out well. Fatoush salad was enjoyable with a vinaigrette and thin layer of hummus as the base under the greens. Somehow our main entrees got delayed--even though we were seated earlier, many tables after us got their entrees, which put a real damper on the whole fun of the 'lunch out' process. We had to rush our dessert to get out on time. However, the jerk chicken quarter leg/thigh was delicious and spicy, with a nice heap of creamy coleslaw...more on the savoury than sweet side. and some crispy plaintain chips on the side. The ice cream 'bar' dessert was like a layered dessert, with crust, ice cream choc chips, peanut butter, whole marshmallows on top torched light brown...so delicious! Food quality was excellent, will go back some time when i don't have a time limit.
Went here today for Summerlicious with my daughter. We made reservations and were greeted and seated relatively promptly. After we were seated, we waited for an uncomfortably long time. Even noticing at times, that people seated after us were at least getting water and drink orders placed. We were about to leave when the hostess, who was lovely, noticed what was happening. She took our drink order and noted my egg allergy. Unfortunately, the service was still very slow once our waiter arrived. The best aspects of the meal - when they finally arrived (long waits in between) - were the fatoush (sp?) salad and the fried mac and cheese appetizers and my daughter enjoyed her pretzel brownie (I I think that's what it was) dessert. We loved our drinks and the atmosphere was nice, the waiters spoke to us politely but the time for things to come out was ridiculous. Overall, our our mother-daughter date to Bannock was not the best. The food was okay, waiters were polite but the service was TOO SLOW. We will not be returning.
We didn’t enjoy the food, it wasn’t the quality we were expecting for the price.
Went to Summerlious. Great menu for the specials. Regular menu also looked good. We chose different foods so we can recommend six choices. Try the fried Mac and cheese and salmon teriyaki. Husband said burger was tender and juicy. He loved the banana chip ice cream s’more. I watched the young lady who looked like she was hostess as well as front line inspector. Run run run. She checked every dish that went out and made sure it went to the right table as well as seating guests. She deserves every bit of money she makes. Great time.
Summerlicious menu was tasty, and portion size was not too heavy.
