El chef Geoff ofrece un ambiente acogedor único y cocina informal con un toque italiano. El Lia's es un restaurante local situado en el centro de Chevy Chase. Lia's has got a very good formula for upscale, but affordable family dining. We tried it on Fathers' Day evening, with a pre-teen granddaughter. Because of the large tables and crowded dining areas that evening, I will say that the arrival of our beverages and food was adequate (on a non-holiday evening, I would call it very slow,) although we would say that our server was way above average in her hospitality skills (her name is "Ciel"). Food: the "salad as appetizer" was very large, fresh ingredients and a much-above-average avocado ranch dressing. My granddaughter had the "little meatballs" appetizer, which she loved. She ordered the Shrimp Scampi pasta...and it was excellent (shrimp were firm, perfectly cooked, the sauce tangy and flavorful); The same with my wife's Rigatoni a la Vodka...the sauce covered the pasta in a beautiful deep orange coating, that was rich in flavor, but not overly rich. And my dinner-Cacio e pepe--was the only disappointment. The cheese, butter, and pepper was, somehow, flavorless. I added several spoonfuls of grated parmesan, but couldn't up the flavor profile. And finally, a very nice wine list, with House selections well above what one would have expected.

We’re thrilled you enjoyed much of your meal, especially the Shrimp Scampi, Rigatoni alla Vodka, and fresh salads. We’re also so glad your granddaughter found some favorites of her own! Ciel will be delighted to hear your kind words—she’s truly one of a kind, and we’re lucky to have her. That said, I’m sorry the Cacio e Pepe didn’t meet expectations. It’s typically one of our most flavorful pastas, and we’ll take a closer look to ensure it’s hitting the mark. Both my husband and my chicken was so severely overcooked and dry that they were inedible. By the time we got it resolved both my kids had finished eating and we didn’t feel like waiting around to eat our dinner. It ruined the overall outing. It made it especially unfortunate since we were celebrating my daughter’s 13th birthday and decided not to stick around for her dessert.

were waiting 30 minutes for dessert. We had to flag down another person and ask. They then brought the desserts and just said “sorry it took so long” then left. My husband had to bring out that it was an extremely long wait and then they comped two desserts. Felt like we had to really bring up the issue more than we should have. Other restaurants would have offered some assistance right away with the long wait.

The food was delicious. The pasta was perfectly cooked and the kale caesar salad was so fresh and good! Definitely recommend this restaurant

We love the food and our family friends with kids met up last night for dinner at 6:30 pm. We left at 8:15. That was problem. Good service at start slacked off and huge delay between ordering & food delivery plus 2 specials came later than rest of meals. Hmmm. Food is good but need more coverage and checking in on table.

Food is ok, but not great. Service is usually good, but it takes a long time for the food to arrive (not the server's fault).

Our server, Sebastian, was outstanding in every way. We sat in the bar for the evening and he was very attentive and caring. We thought the pizza was great, but didn’t care as much for the pasta although that was recommended in the reviews. The brussel sprouts were wonderful and very unusual. Most items on the menu were very different.
