This was our first time dining here, but it will not be our last. The decor is casual, but elegant without being stuffy. The servers are attentive without being over bearing. The menu has something for everyone. I chose the lamb shank and my husband chose the salmon. We were both very pleased with our selections. The lamb fell off the bone and was flavorful and tender. My husband said it was the best salmon he has had in a very long time. The service is not rushed, the food came out in a very timely manner and was cooked to perfection. This was an amazing experience and look forward to our return visit.
Had brunch here. The walnut and pear salad was
the highlight of the meal. It was delicious and the balsamic dressing was tasty without being too tart. Omelettes were both bland. The mushrooms looked and tasted like canned mushrooms. The omelette with the bacon was at least salty so that was a distinctive taste as opposed to the mushroom omelette that was flavorless. The Bloody Mary mix was spicy and good. Excellent service was also a highlight.
The food was all super delicious and the staff was friendly. Pay attention to the cost of things and ask how much the wine pairings cost! Also it can be insanely loud on weekends so it's definitely not a place to have a nice romantic conversation.
We went for dinner to celebrate a friend's birthday. Restaurant was completely full when we arrived, and it took quite a while to get our drinks and to place our orders. The noise level was deafening (but I'm old, so maybe that's it!) After our initial wait, the service steadily improved. Our server Stephanie was friendly and efficient, even helping my husband cut his lamb shank (he has limited use of his arms)! Both men had the lamb shank which they said was so tender that it literally "fell off the bone." It was also humongous! We had the calamari fritti as an appetizer, which for four people was very small. The signature cocktail--spicy peartini, was sweet, but not overly so, and so good I had to have two! Because it was our friend's birthday, they brought him a bowl of wonderfully flavorful vanilla ice cream with a baked pear half, and caramel type sauce on top. Because the restaurant is a little pricey, I would save it for when you want to go out to a nice dinner or for a special occasion. I have had lunch there a few times, prices are better, and the patio is lovely!
Entrees are consistently good. Solid and friendly service. High quality ingredients.
Best, best restaurant in the tri valley. Chef Worth is excellent, his staff are wonderful, the restaurant is lovely, and the prices are great.
This is an excellent restaurant. The one thing of concern was our server, who was actually very good but kept inserting some very strange comments into our conversation for example "I really like the Hebrew people, they are the most intelligent and have all the money". Kind of weird, don't you think. Aside from that aspect, it was a very good experience.
A great place with fantastic food but the highlight of our visit was the waiter, Nicholas! His guidance and recommendations were awesome and his witty banter made our night!
This is our new favorite restaurant!
Great place for lunch and great value for american style food with a little added class and a little different presentation.
Have not been to The Peasant & The Pear in a few years--still very nice...
but not as "great" as a few years ago
Went for birthday--told ahead of time..nothing mentioned..
Had to ask for bread..(had bread dishes on the table)....
Food very good--but everything online the day we went--was not offered on the menu..
Wil get the shrimp scampi again--if there is a next time unless the short ribs online will be offered..
no one mentioned "a special" of any kind...
Happy the wine was paired with the food...helped a lot...
Always amazing! Great food, local owners that care about providing a wonderful experience for all guests. Thank you!!
Food is mediocre and service is bad. It is also too loud. This place has gone down on all aspects.
You'll absolutely love the food, but the service was slow and while we were warned as we sat down that service was slow it was far worse than expected. Considering these servers can make a lot on tips we felt ignored at times and couldn't locate our server to make simple requests. Go for the food and expect slow service.
The ambiance of this restaurant is great. Cozy, not too dated. However, this is the second time in several visits when the food was just too salty--This time it was the salad with the pears. How does that happen?? The salmon was ok but the sauce overwhelmed the fish. The shrimp dish good but bordering on too salty. The waitress was polite but just went through the motions. Lunches seem to be more of its forte.
Great Birthday celebration on the patio. Nicholas made great cocktail suggestions & the food was great!
Diane our server complimented our outstanding meal in celebrating our anniversary.
Very tasty food, nice pork chop, always good service
The restaurant was great but our server was extremely slow with following up and moving to next course. At one point I had to ask another server to assist us with dessert menus. We were late getting back to work.
My wife and I come to this restaurant on a regular basis. The food is consistently excellent as well as the service. Can't find that combination in many establishments any more.
Black and Blue salad is always good, not over dressed and the crispy onions!!
The salad had too much dressing on it. The sandwich had too much
Sauce in it too.
Good food, great location, engaging staff...very pleasant experience.
We met up with long time friends from out of town around 12:30 on a Saturday afternoon. Pleasant, quiet restaurant with excellent service. We weren’t hurried out of the restaurant, but instead invited to stay as long as we liked. The homemade burrata with black cherries (appetizer) is to die for! We drove from the peninsula to meet with our friends. It was well worth the drive and we’d do it in a heartbeat. The only challenge was parking - that was a bit of a zoo around the time we arrived, so perhaps next time we might try a little later in the afternoon.
We were seated immediately. The food was excellent and varied enough for wide tastes. We’ll certainly be back!
Everything was great! We thoroughly enjoyed both our meals; fondue and salads followed by Duck Breast and Filet. Our only bummer was they ran out of Pineapple Creme Brûlée just as we ordered it. Otherwise, everything was perfect.
It was a very nice evening to celebrate our anniversary.
Just moderate food — great service, but was a little disappointed by the food. It wasn’t hot or all that flavorful. I’ve had bette there previously
A little disappointed since I made reservations through Open Table which they ask if this was a special occasion I replied with a yes...birthday also told the waiter, nothing was done! Plus when we asked for our lemon for our water twice there was hair on it.
My special of pork chop stuffed with figs was delicious as was my Caesar salad. I still get insulted with paying $2.00 extra for anchovies!
My guest had rather thin minnestrone as his starter and a not very flavorful rib eye for $40.
Our biggest disappointment was the pear tart for dessert. It’s usually served warm with a tender crust. Ours was cool with a tough crust. Will go back when the wonderful seafood stew is back on the menu.
Excellent service & food!
We were seated next to a very loud and inappropriate lady who did not take into consideration that there were kids in the restaurant. She almost had us walking out before our order but we stayed and eventually she left and we enjoyed our meal.
Wonderful. We had a great dinning experience. Everything was better than expected. Our bartender Nick was AWESOME. We came for a birthday celebration and it was just perfect. We are at the bar and has so much fun on a Tuesday night. Thanks Nick for beings such a great host. We will definitely go back.
Pleasanton but dated restaurant. Good for an older crowd who would like the steaks/chops/creamy sauced types of menus. Had a gift card and wish I had used it for the delicious burger at The Little Pear. Service was friendly. Very over-priced for 1 appetizer, 1 salad, 1 main, 1 dessert, and 1 glass of wine. $80 with 20% tip.
We've been dining at the Peasant and the Pear since it was in a hole in the wall in a San Ramon strip mall. The food has only gotten better. The setting in the Danville restaurant is quiet and pleasant. Rodney keeps developing new recipes and they're never dull, always interesting. We highly recommend it!
We had outstanding service. Everyone was really friendly. Helpful in selecting food since I am gluten free and I had many options. Definely rrcommend the Restrarunt
We ate on the patio, and it was delightful! Had a leisurely lunch and never felt rushed. I had the Waldorf salad and asked to add grilled chicken and was accommodated with no problem! Excellent food!
We were the first reservation for the evening and we were not the first served. There were a couple of bigger groups that came later that seemed to receive the attention. I was bummed because it was my birthday dinner with my small family. My first pork chop was over cooked. The second was perfect and one of the best Ive had. We arrived onetime at 5:30 and did not leave until 7:45. We waited a long time after our salad and soup appetizer to get our dinner and then my pork chop was overcooked. We also waited a very long time after dinner for dessert. The food was great, but on my birthday, I don' t want to feel like an after thought. My son and husbands meals were delicious. Salmon and Filey Mignon. When the waitress attended to us she was very nice.
Great place to meet up with friends. The patio is lovely with the sound of the fountain and the lovely plantings. It is also a great place to dine with your well-behaved dog.
