The Houndstooth Pub is a two-story gastropub in the popular Garment District. This traditional pub opened in 2007 and is co-owned by Rock band Snow Patrol. Noise level was SEVERE, NOT energetic. Sat us next to 26 women some standing and some seated, all shouting over each other celebrating a bride or birthday or something. Some patrons around us just got up and left! We should have too! Others refused to be seated and walked out! They should have been confined to a private room ( or a cage ). If that is the Houndstooth's policy, I'd never go back. I go to sports bars and pubs frequently, but this was NUTS!

Great place for food and drinks. Always go there when we visit the city for a show, concerts or visiting sites. The staff is friendly and knows us when we come in. We tell people to try this place because they would not be disappointed.

After searching on Opentable for a location for Brunch, Houndstooth Pub came up. The location was perfect and the menu was great so we made reservations. We arrived at noon and were handed menus....but no brunch items. We asked for a brunch menu and was told that they should really update their information on Opentable because they haven’t served brunch in years. Although we were disappointed, we stayed for lunch and were pleased we did. The coffee was fresh and the soup sandwich combo was really good! Choice of bread,soup and fresh carved turkey. The sweet potato fries were fresh cut and not greasy. Even the pickle was good! Nice place, but yes, they should update their menu on Opentable to be current.

First time in. Got a great high top in the corner, by the windows. Menu is limited, but our party of four each enjoyed their selection. Draft beer list short, but the Saranac IPA was awesome. Service was superb. Sure we’ll be returning. Thanks!

On our visit, the menu had been changed to accommodate the Elton John concert which was disappointing but still more than adequate. My daughter had fish and chips while I had the shepherds pie both portions were large and the food was very good. The only negative was found in the attitude of our first server. He was condescending towards my daughter. We both ordered water with lemon on the side and he brought us limes on a paper napkin and never returned. Our new server was a huge improvement as she frequently checked on us and presented with a friendly and helpful attitude. We ordered cheesecake to go and it was outstanding as an after-concert snack.

The ambiance and service was superb! My husband had the shepherd's pie and I had the fish and chips. He loved his dinner. Mine was so-so. $20 for 2 small pieces of fishy cod and fries. It wasn't horrible..just not great. We will come back and try something else.

Have always wanted to try The Houndstooth, met with friends there and we were all disappointed. Great ambiance, well designed space. food was just ok. We both ordered Black angus burger... It was dry, dense and flavorless...bread was dry also.. and it came with steak fries ... about 7 of them. This was not a good experience for me, so most likely wouldn't go back or recommend.

Saturday night get together before Rangers game. Fabulous pub and sports bar combo atmosphere. Fantastic warm and friendly service Nice selection of craft beer and liquor. Wings came out piping hot with lots of flavor. Salads were fresh greens. Chicken pot pie was amazing! Enjoyed ourselves so much we stopped back in after the game in which Tampa Bay Lightning won 3-2.

Four of us had dinner at the Houndstooth Pub prior to seeing Billy Joel at MSG. We made reservations and had no wait when we arrived. Bar/restaurant has ample seating but is quite loud making conversation sometimes difficult. Our appetizers/meals were tasty but we felt the menu could have offered a few more options. Overall, it was a good place to eat/drink prior to seeing an event at MSG. We would dine there again.

We stopped at the Houndstooth Pub after a Wednesday matinee on our way to our train back to Wilmington. There were five of us - two of the girls split a short rib sandwich, one had fish tacos, one had the veggie sandwich, and I had a burger. All of our meals were delicious. Our waiter was great - helpful with menu suggestions and very attentive. We will definitely stop in here again for lunch or light dinner.

We were four and the service was fine...took a long time for the server to return when one of our party indicated he was not yet ready to order. The food was very good and the location between Penn Station and the Port Authority Bus station is very convenient.

Found this on Google. Turned out to be a perfect meeting place for 2 coming from Penn and 2 coming from GC. Food was excellent. Service was excellent. Aiden was our server and we had other servers checking on us as well. Table in the corner with view of NYC bustling around us. It was a great night! Will go back.

There were six of us and we were seated immediately. Our waiter did not seem to be particularly happy to be waiting on us but he wasn’t rude. Just got the out-of-work actor vibe from him, and that he wished he was anywhere but waiting tables. But let me reiterate, at no point was he rude. Our lunch was very tasty, I had the Manchester which I enjoyed. Others had salads and burgers and all said they were very good. One in our group had a seafood/nut allergy which was easily accommodated with a roll substitution All in all a decent spot for lunch.

A large, sprawling pub. Like most pubs, very loud, but a more varied and more extensive menu than most. In fact, the variety the menu offered is, imho, this pub’s greatest strength. Food is fine ... I had a lamb stew special that was especially good. Companions had fish and chips and a pot pie that were good but unexceptional. For some reason, it took the server a full ten minutes at the end of the meal to process my credit card, and it was a bit off-putting to have three different members of the wait staff checking up on us during the meal. But overall this is a good choice in the neighborhood and I’d recommend it.

originally chose the restaurant for convenience . The food and the service were above what we expected in this fast paced NYC neighborhood. The quality and quantity of food was well worth the reasonable prices. We will be back so we can check out the Shepard's Pie.
