   What do we do when we're downtown and hungry in the middle of the day? We go to a.Kitchen! It's fabulous, so let's skip the small talk. After our usual chickpea starter (look on the left side of the lunch menu), I went with two relatively new menu items, starting with the steak tartare. It's fantastic! This is what steak tartare was like 50+ years ago in the fancy white tablecloth places of my adolescence - coarsely chopped and properly spiced with what I could almost believe is "real" Tabasco, although it seems the chefs did the spice from scratch (and really well at that!). Then I had the pasta with cauliflower, which is essentially a wonderful cacio e pepe with small cauliflower florets. My wife had her favorite mussels after a sweet gem lettuce salad, and the chocolate peanut dessert was so amazing we had a second one. Great room, great service (thanks, again, Jed!) and a great time was had by all.

   Bliss. The service is amazing and the food is even more so. The menu is carefully prepared and regularly updated with seasonal as well as regional delights and I'm constantly amazed at Chef Eli's warm, layered flavor profiles and amazing textures. This week, my wife and I enjoyed an amazing vegetable focused, multi-course masterpiece. The coup de grâce was an inspired pasta and cauliflower dish with a light, yet hearty and tangy cheese sauce. a.kitchen should be renamed a.hidden.gem. The atmosphere is warm, friendly, and cozy. My favorite spot is at the counter in full view of the amazing show put on by Chef Eli and his amazing team. Highly recommend a visit to a.kitchen.

    Our dinner was excellent. Was busy but servers maintained a steady flow where we did not feel they were lacking in attention. Our server was wonderful, very nice and personable. We will definitely return. Price fixed dinner for Valentine’s Day was filling and had a variety of options to choose. Would love for the Parmesan dumplings with rabbit to be on the regular menu.     My brunch plate had scattered potatoes and and cold poached eggs. No bread served. No garnishes at all. The Diet Coke was a tiny bottle. Bare minimum. Nice atmosphere but disappointed in food. Could be so much better.

    We have been twice for dinner and once for breakfast. The breakfast service was attentive and timely. The dinner service was fair. I found the front server unhelpful. For example, when we asked what dishes do you recommend we were told "it depends what you like". The wine flight came after our first plate was delivered & our dinner was served on top of the first plate minutes after the first plate was put down. This was our second dinner visit. Our first time we came for dinner, we felt rushed but decided to try it a second time.

    We love this place, and the experience this time was, as usual, excellent. I would just like to offer a couple of comments on details that were less than perfect. I think the duck confit dish I ordered would have been better if served on a larger plate, so that I could also have seen what I was eating. And though the food was delicious, I missed any touch of crispness in the pommes Sarladaises, a feature I have no problem achieving when I make them at home.

    The fish soup with scallops and mussels was really really good, the starters and drinks were ok but not outstanding . The potatoes accompanying the salmon were almost uncooked. Expected a bit more.

    Everything about the restaurant was great: food, ambiance, service. I would definitely like to try lunch next time. My only dislike was sitting at the chef’s cooking station...I need support for my back and the stools just did not provide any.

    This place was GREAT! The food is fresh and delicious. The vegetarian options are bountiful. I split the Branzino with my friend and I absolutely loved it! We came here for restaurant week and it was absolutely worth it! I truly felt like I got an awesome discount b/c you get 2 appetizers/ pp; each can get own entree or split the Branzino; then dessert (1/pp). A.Kitchen has earned a new patron. I'll be sure to have them as part of my rotation for small business meetings and getting together with friends.

    I don’t know why a kitchen states that it serves French food. Having one or barely reply French comfort recipes does not make it a French restaurant. I went during the restaurant week and was highly disappointed. The sitting arrangement was extremely cramped. I ordered the beet from the starter menu, which was average. I ordered sausage which was not tasty. Finally the chicken I ordered was something a I can make at home. I thought I could at least have a good desert. No that was not to be. I ordered chocolate cake, but found out it was full of peanut butter. No French restaurant would ever serve peanut butter in their desert. So here is good bye to a pseudo- French restaurant.
