Italian
Aria is a very versatile Italian restaurant that can accommodate virtually any sort of dining experience. Aria's menu reflects the cuisine of all of Italy - north to south. Aria's chef/owner Stefano pays homage to dishes familiar in Italy but not acknowledged here such as cous cous, and pastas like farro and fregola (a Sardinian grain).

"Old School" Italian restaurant. Ate there on a Friday night. The place was deadly quiet. But the food and service (Marcello!!) were outstanding.

Went on a Wednesday evening, place was practically empty. The waitress was attentive and great, the food, however, was lackluster and bland. Not sure if the usual chef was on vacation but the eggplant was oily, flat and flavorless; it also seemed like it had been sitting for a while. Pasta was fresh but the sauces were flat. Chicken had zero flavor. Prices were great, but overall wouldn't return.

Overall a very good meal but the pasta dishes were the most memorable. Salads were good but could have used a little more flavor in the dressings.

Aria has been very consistent over the years. We visit once or twice a year. It's pricey, but not out of line for Stamford. Food is well done, portions are the right size. Service is above average - they were out of the wine I ordered and the waiter suggested a replacement that was similar, but $20 more. He offered the replacement at the same price as the original request.

We went there to celebrate a late Valentine's Day. It was restaurant week so we decided to take advantage of getting an appetizer, entrée and a desert for a fixed price. The service was very good, the glasses of wine over priced. Fourteen dollars for a glass of wine that I know the bottle in a liquor store retails for about 12 dollars is outrages. I got the stuffed pepper for my appetizer and my boyfriend got the lamb meatballs. The stuff pepper was unique since it has a pesto sauce on it. It was very good, and large for an appetizer. For my entrée I got the veal scaloppini and this is why I rated the food only 2 stars. My entrée came out lukewarm. What a disappointment. The flavor was ok probably would have been better if it has been hot. My boyfriend had the ravioli which was good and at least hot, but it's ravioli nothing to write home about. Dessert I think was the ultimate BEST. I got the Panna Cotta. I have never had this dessert before and it was YUMMY. My boyfriend had the cheesecake. I had the better dessert. Overall I was disappointed in my entrée however I would consider giving them another try and eating from the regular menu. Only other complaint I have about this restaurant is the parking.

Nothing to write home about. Interesting décor but a little on the dark side. Almost too quiet - only a few tables occupied and it was a Saturday night. Expensive for what it was.

Very disappointing. The place was half empty and very cold. No atmosphere whatsoever. No background music. Food was average for me; good for my husband. Ordered a glass of a specific white wine and what was brought was something else. There was noise of some kind of construction going on. At dessert time, waiters started removing the tables around us in the section we were in, to setup something, probably for an event the next day. This was at 9:15pm on a Friday! Dessert took 15 minutes to arrive after ordered and was mediocre. Coffee was lukewarm. Prices too high for the place. Not a good experience. Not coming back.

I'd have liked to give them 5 stars across the board but I can't. I was in Stamford for business Friday night and after doing a little research online, was able to locate this place a block from my hotel, on a bitterly cold December night. When we arrived for our 6:45 reservation we were the first ones in the place. We immediately noted that it was quite chilly, perhaps only in the high 50's or low 60's in the restaurant. We immediately asked our server to turn up the heat. My date and I kept our coats on for the first 10 minutes or so hoping it would warm up. We asked no fewer than 4-5 times about the temperature being raised and each time the server was apologetic but not able to actually change anything. She claimed once that they had just put it on and it would take a little bit for it to warm up. Granted it was pretty cold out, and the space is high ceilings and lots of windows opening onto a major thoroughfare. I noted that they have forced hot air and when its turned up, it should be almost immediate. Again the servers claimed to not notice the cold, but we caught them rubbing their hands together and hopping from foot to foot. I'm disappointed, that the manager didn't approach our table to make amends for the temp, after 4 complaints. Anyway, I loved my dinner, but it was most uncomfortable and we didn't want to stay for coffee and dessert, it was so chilly. My lasagna was one of the best I've ever had, and my date enjoyed her gnocci, but the overall experience was ruined by the lack of heat. Please remedy this and I'll gladly come back, since I have many more work days in Stamford coming up.

My boyfriend and I came here for restaurant week on a Tuesday night. There were only 3 tables filled so we figured we would get served quickly. We were wrong. The service was very slow. They also "forgot" to give a a wine list when we sat down for dinner. The food was alright, but pretty salty. We probably won't be back.

We sat close to the kitchen. So every time they came in and out of the door there were loud. The kitchen staff was playing loud music and we could not enjoy ourselves. The parking was awful. The food did not good. I got a pasta and there was barely anything on the plate. Never got the bread we were told. The soda was flat

Great quality for beyond reasonable prices. The appetizer portions were generous (burrata and tomato was fabulous) and they have a delicious selection of breads. Great pasta and seafood dishes but the dessert was absolutely the hi light of our meal. The creama tiramisu was the best I've ever had- so decadent! Would absolutely recommend this restaurant, and will be coming back for another meal!

Our first time at Aria and probably our last. Overall very disappointing. The best part of the meal was the bread basket. For appetizers we had the beet salad and the fennel salad. Beet salad was cold and tasteless. Supposedly had a gorgonzola dressing on the beets but not even an inkling of gorgonzola. A few chopped walnuts on the plate to finish it off. Fennel salad was beyond bland. Worst fennel salad I have ever tasted. Dinner was butternut tortellini and fish baked in parchment. The pasta dish was okay but very bland. The fish was dry and had no taste and no moisture to it. The fish supposedly was to have been cooked with cherry tomatoes. There were no cherry tomatoes on the fish - just a few tiny spots of red on the top of the fish. The best part of my fish dish was the sauteed spinach which was due to the addition of parmesan cheese on the top. The serving staff was polite and attentive.

We went with friends during Restaurant Week. We arrived at 7 p.m.; a few other tables were occupied. We received menus, heard the specials, and opined that we would order from the prix fixe menu, plus a starter of the mixed cold meats and cheeses for the table. We ordered a bottle of wine. We got the wine and (very good) bread within 5 minutes of ordering, then waited a full 45 minutes before ANYTHING else appeared - and that was after we pointed out to the server that we had been waiting a long time and it doesn't take much effort to put cold cuts on a platter. When our appetizers arrived 15 minutes after the cheeses, three were very good and one (the Caesar salad) was tasteless and was sent back (it was replaced with a different choice). We noticed that in a few cases people who arrived after we did were served before we were, and wondered whether ordering from the special menu had anything to do with the slow service we were receiving. When the main courses and desserts finally arrived, they were very, very good - the chocolate mousse was especially wonderful. We had the sense that the chef is talented but the kitchen was severely understaffed, and unable to keep up with demand even on a weeknight, when the place was perhaps 60% full. Bottom line: we were just too frustrated by the slow service to want to go back, but if you have all the time in the world (say, 3 hours from arrival to departure) and you are not too hungry when you arrive, and you are not bothered by the slightly musty atmosphere (it was a beautiful, clear evening outside - an open window might have done wonders), you might want to try it, because the meal, when you get it, will probably be very good.

Had not been to this restaurant for several years when it seem expensive and pretentious with food only so-so. But had a four-star meal there this time as did my dining partners, with excellent win and final bill that was only moderately high. All in all ver please, though we hear owner/chef may be returning to Italy and closing Aria.

Walked to resturant from hotel with friends around this wonderful park. It is near a new Trump condo. The calamari appetizer was outstanding. Grilled, with a touch of balsamic and other flavors, my group would list this as one of the world's best for flavor, presentation and world class cooking! This would be a must. The pasta was good and the creamy tiramisu to end it was totally different and a nice surprise. Highly recommended.

I hadn't eaten at Aria in awhile, but I always loved the food, wine and service. I ordered the dish I love there which is the Dorade fish cooked in parchment paper. I don't know if the chef has changed or what but what I got for my $30 entree was about 3 oz. of a thin piece of fish on a white plate. No chopped tomatoes or any of what was supposed to be cooked with the fish in the paper. I only got a little 4x4 inch piece of parchment that the fish sat on. I couldn't believe it. When I asked where the tomatoes, onions, etc. were that were supposed to be with the fish, the waiter brought me out a little ramekin with chopped tomato in it. What? Really? What happened to you people? it was still delicious, and being a foodie, I don't mind spending money on good food. But that was ridiculous. A little white piece of fish on a white plate with nothing. No garnish, no parsley flakes, nada. Unbelieveable. I ordered a side of asparagus thank goodness because they put it on the same plate to give it some color. So for $39 I had 3 oz. of fish and 6 sprigs of asparagus. My friend had the Zuppa de Pesche, which was loaded with shellfish and very good, but presentation not so great. I drive by on any given night and wonder why nobody is there. I guess this is why. It was "restaurant week" and I could have had 3 courses including boar osso bucco for $35.15. Something is definitely wrong here and it's too bad. I might go back in awhile to see if it's any better because I really did like this place. I wish I had a picture of what was served to me. I eat out 4 nights a week at minimum, so I know something was very wrong here. so just beware if you do go, but I think it's worth a try for new people. I'd be interested to see the reviews.
