We love J Gilbert's but last night, Father's Day evening was BAD, it was so weird! We had 6:30 reservations but had to wait to be seated even though we could see set, open tables. Once we were seated it was awhile before we saw our waitress. Two tables that we know of got up and left without getting their meals. Our waitress said that she would bring bread but we still hadn't gotten any by the time that our soup/salad got there so we asked the person that brought those, he was very fast and apologized. When we finally received our meals, mine was lukewarm but no way was I sending it back! The waitress blamed the kitchen but I'm not sure what the issue was. We talked to who we assumed was the manager and she did reduce our bill and gave us a free piece of carrot cake, which was appreciated but what we hoped would be a relaxing Father's Day dinner was anything but.

The restaurant is one of our favorites and food was delicious but they clearly overbooked and mismanaged reservations. Servers were stressed. Food service was slow. Deserts were incorrect. Management needs to fix these or they will lose business.

Never disappoints! We did have a “bar” Reservation for 6:30. Arrived about 6:20. Was told there was a delay, as they were still seating 6:15 folks? There were plenty of tables available in bar area (BUT Father’s Day weekend) so knew they were busy. Waited until 6:50 and asked how much longer? After some communication between staff, we were seated, with a lot of apologies. Our server was certainly busy but still attentive. Out of my Malbec and didn’t offer any alternative choices. It all good but just now seamless, like expected.

The food was beautifully plated and delicious. The sides were generous. The wine list was good. Overall, an excellent restaurant.

Service was perfect as always. Thanks Meagen. I had to send back my steak as it was almost blue but the quality, flavor, and tenderness of their steaks is consistently outstanding. I no longer recommend the Crab Bisque. The recipe has changed over the years and the bisque has lost its previously lovely crab taste. Now it tastes of salt. The Mac and cheese could be an entree of its own. Outstanding. The maple glazed salmon was juicy and flavorful. The potato chips and blue cheese is a huge portion and the flavor is mouthwatering. Highly recommend the chips and blue cheese for your table.
