We chose St Andrew's because it was within easy walking distance from our hotel in NYC. It turned out to be a very good choice! The restaurant looks as if it's been there a long time...lots of dark wood, lovely dark, printed wallpaper, and many pictures with the 'Scottish' theme. Downstairs, a bagpiper was playing in the bar, and someone was doing a Scottish dance. The bar seemed lively, and people were obviously having fun. The hostess led us upstairs through several cozy rooms of tables to ours, which was right by a window, looking out to the street. Our server, Chloe, was extremely attentive, yet we didn't feel rushed through our meal. The house chardonnay was a French wine, and was smooth and delightful. We opted for the prix fixe dinner menu,(only $29 for appetizer, entree and dessert) and we both loved our food choices. We had the soup of the day as our appetizer. It was a wonderful chicken orzo with lots of vegetables as an added bonus. For my entree, I had the horseradish crusted salmon, served with artichoke ravioli and asparagus in a lovely tomato aioli. It was cooked to perfection and literally melted in my mouth. My husband chose the barbecue baby back ribs, and he raved about them. They just fell off the bone! For dessert, I had the lemon poppy seed loaf with tart cherry coulis and my husband had the brownie a la mode. Both were delicious. We will definitely go back to St Andrews the next time we're in New York City for a show. It now rates among our top favorites in the whole city!

This is a pub type place with the expected ambiance. ..one added twist...the waiters and bartenders wear kilts. Service was good and very friendly. For a pub, the food was good...better then expected. The prices were not cheap, but not too high. The big draw here is that they have an enormous selection of scotches. ..mostly single malts. This is why we went here. If you like scotch and want to give a few a try, this is a great place to do it. Of course, if you sample a few scotches prepare for a big bill. The average 18 yr. old goes for about $20 per shot and if you are really feeling special you can spend well over $100 for a shot. Order the Uber Soft Pretzel to go with the drinks...you won't be sorry.

We were seated upstairs at a banquette, which was quiet and cozy. Our server, Omi, was fantastic--sweet, professional, attentive. The food, especially for the price, was excellent. We ordered the fixed price menu and received an additional 20% off because were going to the theater. I would recommend, however, that you go early if you are attending a show. The kitchen was slow the night we went and we had to really rush to get out on time. If you go at 6:00 p.m., you should have no problem making an 8:00 p.m. curtain.

Came from the tree after a holiday tradition the decor was great. However, waited 45 minutes to get drinks. Food came before drinks. Waitress disappeared. The food was very good. The manager was apologetic and took the stocks off the bill.

I'm on a low sodium diet specifically because they advertised as having steaks. I know the mg of sodium in a NY Strip when combined with a baked potato but they only offered it with smashed potatoes (loaded with salt) and they don't baked as an alternative. I guess it's too much work to have potatoes in a bin to throw in a microwave. So I had a hamburger instead.

We went to St Andrews for a pre-theater dinner on Monday of Christmas week. We had 6PM reservations before an 8PM show. All in all our experience was fine. The food was good and the selections were varied - lots of meat dishes and fish dishes. They had a 3 course prix fix menu for $29.99 which was a very good deal. They also had a full menu to select from as well. The salmon was delicious with the artichoke ravioli. Other diners in our party had the lamb chop special and steak. No one was disappointed with the food. However, at 6PM they were already out of some of the specials, such as the lamb chop special; only one in our party could order it. They were also out of the swordfish. We thought it was early in the evening to be running out of specials. They were late bringing dessert and we had to leave before it came because of the show time. In spite of these slight inconveniences I would go back again and I would recommend this restaurant. Just give yourself more time to get through the meal if pressed for time.

Picked this place because we were seeing Macbeth at drunk Shakespeare. And Macbeth is Scottish. And this place is Scottish. It was perfect. In a way. Because the waitstaff was harried and weird like the witches. And I asked the guy who brought our shared entree to bring us sharing plates and he just nodded and never came back. Not even in ghost form. And then I've been trying to erase the memory of eating here like lady Macbeth trying to get the blood off her hands. The food was fine. But it's a tourist trap. There's so many other great restaurants nearby. This one will never be king.

We went here after a show only because I waited until the last Minute to find a restaurant I could still get a reservation for. Thank God we were seated upstairs because it was very loud on the first floor . The waitress told us the kitchen was running behind so our entree would be delayed at least 10 minutes longer then usual .When I asked how long that was she said about 40 minutes ,ugh . My girlfriend ordered the grilled Scottish salmon, and she liked it. I ordered the grilled rib-eye, since St Andrews calls itself a Steak & Seafood restaurant I assumed for $38 I would get at least a decent piece of meat. I could get a better steak in a Diner it was about as thick as a McDonalds burger and full of grisel . No wonder the last Zagat ratting hanging in the window was from 2014. If your looking for a steak I would recommend trying someplace else.

Went here pre-theatre. Thankfully was seated upstairs away from the very vibrant bar scene. 2 of us had prix fixe --- very reasonable at $29 for 3 courses and the food was great. I had the Caesar salad, short ribs and ice cream dessert...all yummy. Another had the chicken --- simple but delicious. Another friend had fish & Chips - she said best she's had in years! Recommended for sure!

After waiting some time, the waitress came over to take our drink orders and then we didn't see her again for quite some time with our drinks. My sister and I had salads with shrimp for lunch. They very good, however the service was ABSOLUTELY terrible. Our waitress came over to us shortly after our meals were served to ask if we needed anything else. . .then we never saw her again, until she came to pick up the check. (We had to ask another waitress to get our check.) At which time she apologized for not being around and proceeded to blame it on the other waitress. I honestly don't know if I would recommend St. Andrew's.

We were 4 diners. 2 ordered hamburgers which were excellent. 2 ordered grilled chicken and goat cheesec salads. We noticed that there was no cheese so we asked our waiter and were told they were out of goat cheese. No substitute was offered so we asked for Feta cheese. Our waiter never returned with the cheese. .We then asked another waiter for a refill on our Iced tea and were told there would be another charge. The small glass was filled halfway with ice. We asked to speak to the manager who apologized and offered a small discount on our bill. We were very disappointed and will not return.

The menu was misleading and no explanation was given by the server. The prix-fixe menu lists a horseradish crusted salmon and our server told us this was one of their most popular menu offerings. The salmon was to be served with artichoke ravioli, charred tomatoes and arugula vinaigrette. Without any correction from the server, our salmon was served on a bed of vegetables -- just would have been a good idea to let the customer know the truth!

We came here for lunch prior to a Saturday theater matinee. It was a great choice. We tried Haggis as an appetizer, (a first for me) and it was delicious. My friend had fish 'n chips and he said that it was the best he has ever had. I had their signature burger and it was delicious. While this may seem pedestrian, I don't always want a fancy salad for lunch, and this is a Scottish Pub! The restaurant was lovely, nice decor, and I would definitely return again.
