What a sad thought that this neighborhood gem is gone. We went to Ripple the night before it closed to share a meal with our children and our favorite waitress Jenny. To say they went out on a high would be an understatement. Our meal was perfect, The hamachi appetizer as well as the burrata salad were fresh and light. The gnocchi was rich and meaty and so flavorful. The duck, steak and halibut main courses we had were all cooked perfectly. The wine list has been amazing for some time and we capped off the night with a bottle of 2007 Shafer HIllside select which earned its 100 point rating in spades. I am so sad this place has closed.

We were so saddened by the news that Ripple is closing on June 24, which is why we went this week for a last visit. It is one of the best restaurants in DC. It is a crying shame that people had not patronized it enough to come to this.

This was my second visit to Ripple, and unfortunately it was a disappointment. Although the salad was excellent, the cheeses were less impressive, and the Amish whole chicken was a disaster. Service was slow and inattentive, and the restaurant (not in the bar area) was unbelievably loud, making conversation at our four-top difficult. Not worth the price ($300 for four people, 4 glasses of wine) but even if it were more reasonably priced, I would not recommend, and I will not return.

This was a farewell dinner. We will miss Ripple; it is closing after June 24. Having said that, and despite being a reasonably affluent customer who lives within easy walking distance, I never went to Ripple except to splurge. Its chef and staff are very talented, but prices are high for very small portions. You will leave hungry unless you order at least 3 courses.

Because the restaurant is closing this month, there's little good to be gained from a very positive review. Ripple was a very good restaurant and its loss is a big one for the neighborhood.

My husband and I decided to check Ripple out before they close on the 24th and we are SO glad we did. The tasting menu was well worth it (so delicious!) and since they're closing down, all wine by the bottle over $140 is half off!! We had some amazing food, wonderful wine, and just great service and experience overall. If you have a chance to get out there before they close the doors, I HIGHLY recommend it! So sad to see this place go!!

When we heard Ripple was closing for good we immediately booked a table to say "farewell" to this wonderful restaurant. We loved everything, but the halibut was a tad too salty and overcooked. Wonderful people there. We'll miss it.

One of the members of our group wanted to try this property out based on a WP restaurant review recently. While the service was stellar, the facility was not spotless. We sat at the bar before dinner and the bar had dried food on the counter-top that had not been cleaned in some time. It was pretty disgusting. The bartender was efficient, but not overly chatty. Our dinner server was great as was her assistant. We had the beef special for two and, while good, it was not the best quality of meat and two pieces had lots of gristle. I did not want to "make a scene" so I said nothing. The spinach should have been creamed instead of the way it was cooked. Good experience, but would not go back a second time.

I don't know what happened to Ripple but this is not the restaurant we used to love. Not the food, the portions or the price. Forget about brining your kids, the waiter recommended the chicken for them, I said we didn't want to order something big. We ended up paying $60 for our 3 and 8 year old kids. Overall, we didn't enjoy the food. The wine list was as solid as always.

Ripple provides imaginative and beautifully prepared food. The portions are sensible so one feels well fed but not stuffed at the end of the meal. The service is exceptionally friendly and efficient. One of our party was allergic to dairy. Our server and the kitchen handled this perfectly. We really enjoy going there.

Our group of 6, family and foodie friends, thoroughly enjoyed our Saturday evening at Ripple. After delicious cocktails, and making difficult choices from the appealing menu, we settled in for a meal that pleased the vegetarian and gluten-free people, as well as those of us that love it all. Two were very happy to indulge in the shared rib-eye...large, but worth it. Several of us felt the nettle stuffed agnolotti was the star, but then, the beet salad and the duck were pretty spectacular, too! The wine list was fun to explore, and yielded both red and white wines that delighted everyone. Capping it off with a taste of coffee and something sweet - yummy madeleines - perfect night! (...a bag of those awesome Foie Gras Truffles to go, would have been bliss. Maybe next time?)

The spring menu on Friday was outstanding! The foie grad mousse with rhubarb was excelllent, as was the spring nettles agnolotti. Also, the minionette for the oysters starter was so fragrant. The strawberries and cream dessert was also wonderful.

Ripple held up to recent outstanding Washington Post review. We expect excellent food and were not disappointed; just the opposite. We both had the foie gras appetizer which was as good as anything we'd had in France. Both the duck and halibut entrees were very good and the foie gras truffle was amazing. As a after dinner treat they gave us "madelines" that were wonderful. The service was excellent and their wine list was what you'd expected from a wine bar.

Food was great, as always. Service -- slow and disinterested. Meal took two hours -- cutting by a half hour would have made a big difference. Between the time we ordered the cheese course to its arrival, 20 minutes elapsed. Waiter never asked if we wanted a second glass of wine -- barely checked on us. Disappointing evening.

The wine pairings were spot on, and I should have listened to the waiter on the food choices. The beet salad was waaaaaay too sweet. In fact, most of the food was too sweet. The only food I enjoyed was the green salad my husband ordered. A special occasion was not improved by the dinner, sadly.

We had been to Ripple about 2 years ago when Chef Marjorie Meek-Bradley was there and we were impressed. Having just returned with Chef Ryan Ratino we were blown away. First the dining room has been updated and is roomier and brighter. However, I'd say it's a little cold and lacks an inviting feel to the room. The noise levels were low and made conversation easy but it was a Tuesday evening and the bar was empty and the dining room only about a quarter full. The cocktail menu could use a little work. We usually find something to our liking but these seemed a bit uninspired compared to what you see at other restaurants like The Dabney. As for the food...it exceeded all expectations. We let our waiter guide us. We started with the radishes with butter as a snack and then moved to a fennel, yogurt and beet salad and ocean trout crudo. The depth of flavors, presentation and preparation were excellent. We both had the halibut since the waiters eyes lit up and said it was his favorite. The fish was prepared to perfection and the mussel emulsion, asparagus, black garlic and ramps almost stole the show from the fish. Look for the little subtleties like pickled green strawberries to bring an interesting twist to the dish. Definitely recommend Ripple. Excellent meal. Go before everyone is in line.
