   If your idea of fine dining consists of large portions and a take-home doggie bag then this restaurant is not for you. Here, portions are small/moderate but outstanding. My first time at this restaurant and I was amazed. Everything that was served—drinks, food, dessert—all superb. The waitperson—friendly, very attentive and unobtrusive. A gem of a restaurant.

   Another great meal from their new $55 menu including seared scallops, ricotta toast and cauliflower w toasted spices. Our main were a strip steak and cod w asparagus and peas. We indulged in dessert of strawberry/rhubarb crostata (beautiful and perfectly balanced). A delicious wine selected by Andrew complemented the meal.

   We had a lovely dinner celebrating our wedding anniversary. The staff made us feel special and the food was delicious. Quiet and easy to hear each other. Highly recommend.

   Service and cocktails were great! The duck skin could have been rendered more and the beef was unevenly cooked (almost med rare in the middle but well done on the rest). The same vegetables were used in most dishes so the dishes tasted very similar. Also, the bathrooms needed to be cleaned. It is unclear why the 2 single person bathrooms need to be gendered.

   We have highest marks as total dining experience was outstanding. Have been coming to 80 Thoreau since it opened many years ago but last night was a notch above.

   80 Thoreau offers thoughtfully prepared dishes with interesting, unexpected flavor combinations. The food was well-executed, and the desserts, in particular, were both beautiful and enjoyable. That said, the service didn’t quite match the quality of the food. Our table wasn’t ready when we arrived, and while our server was friendly, she seemed stretched thin throughout the evening. It took quite a while to place a drink order, and the wine we requested early in the meal didn’t arrive until dessert. When we paid and got ready to leave, there was no staff around to thank or say goodbye. The kitchen is doing great work, but the overall experience would benefit from smoother, more attentive service.

    We have been going to this restaurant since they opened. This time the menu was very creative and food was divine. We tried 4 appetizers, 2 main course and 3 deserts. It was outstanding!!! Congratulations to the chef.
