I've been to Fig & Olive in LA & NY several times. Their restaurants are in beautiful spaces, but the food is always rather bland and uninspiring. The descriptions are so much better than the food is in reality. I expect better from a restaurant that isn't inexpensive. On the up side, I can usually get a same day reservation.

Good as always. A little expensive for what you get, but it’s LA. It’s the place to be seen, I guess. For us it’s about the food and drinks. Two of us shared the château Briand for $108, ummmmm not worth it IMHO. GOOD, but just not worth the money. We’ll stick to the regular menu next time.

Food and service were outstanding! Their crostini are unique to Fig & Olive and always an enjoyable treat. My husband and I shared the branzino for two and it was well presented, with the server taking all the bones out and presenting it beautifully. Ratatouille and sauteed mushrooms were delicious. And apple tart was a spectacular dessert.

Didn’t really like my dining experience at Fig & Olive. Requested a booth table and was told no, then was told if I want to sit at a booth then I would have to finish dining at 7, then leave. When speaking to the manager, she was amazing and definitely made me feel welcomed! It’s my first time visiting California, but I can’t say that if I return, I’ll be back at this restaurant.

Julia was a fantastic server - the right amount of attentiveness, so charming and brought us a complimentary dessert to celebrate our move. We had the crostinis, filet and scallop truffle risotto which were all five stars!

I came to this location on a business lunch and would very much recommend it for such dining. The food was delicious and our server was quite attentive. The ambiance made for an excellent backdrop to a nice meeting. I look forward to coming back outside of a meeting and dine with friends.

The worst experience!! It was my mother’s 56th birthday. I really don’t know where to start. We were 5 at the beginning. We called them to make the table for 6 they told it was impossible, we told our friend not to come(!) and when we got there we saw that the table was for 6 people. They explained the situation by saying that the reservation office is in NY and they don’t know the situation here in Melrose. We ordered Chateaubriand they brought ny steak. My parents waited for more. I mean everybody could not get the main course at the same time. The rest NY steaks were really terrible. They were cold and not in the temperature we asked for. They gave us champagne, desert and cognac in the house to cover their mistakes, but our night was ruined. I’m really sad that I suggested this place to my parents who came all the way from Istanbul. The ambiance was also not as good as I remembered.

It seemed a bit unorganized and a couple things on the menu weren’t available because they ran out. Although the food was good they definitely made a fortune on the prifixe menu. Simple dishes that probably didn’t cost them all to much to make. Table service was good. If you’re going to have a set menu and you’re open till 11, make sure you have enough food and drinks for the whole night.

The food was subpar and overpriced. Halibut specifically was forgetful. Server forgot our wine pairing and argued that he didn’t. Overall ambiance was great however for the amount we paid, totally not worth the price tag.

The food is good here, but if you’re vegetarian, the dishes seem to be a bit on the overpriced/boring side. They were good, but would have been better for $10-15 less. They had a good wine selection, and the flavored olive oil was fun.

We celebrated our anniversary at Fig and Olive tonight and while the food was delicious and the restaurant itself has a beautiful atmosphere, the staff is really what stood out to us the most. We couldn’t believe how friendly, attentive and genuine everyone was. Sometimes at a restaurant, the staff can be really nice but it seems a bit forced or fake. Everyone, from the time the hostess greeted us to the end of our meal, was just honestly nice- you can feel the difference. Bob, who was taking care of our table, was so great. He gave perfect suggestions and was so attentive. The manager/maitre d was also so kind and sent us champagne and dessert to celebrate the occasion. Everyone went above and beyond to make the night extra special which was so unexpected and appreciated. We will definitely be coming back soon!

Everything was as good as it could have been. We chose a Sunday and an earlier than usual time, in order to cut down on noise for a birthday dinner. Our table was in the center by the trees, and it was lovely. Our server, Alexander, was fantastic, in both food service and being knowledgable about decanting our very special 20 yr old wine. The restaurant is beautiful, and we will return.

It took an hour for my appetiser to arrive. I was dining alone and was more or less ignored by the waiting staff. The waiter seemed to be double-batting as a bartender, and referred to me as “love” When my appetiser eventually arrived, my entree arrived at the same time. The worst meal experience I’ve been had when visiting LA.

My wife and I eat out for business and date night dinners several nights a week. Fig & Olive is always an option in our consideration set. We love the environment and the location, but each time we have gone there something is off with the service and the food is just not that good or distinctive. Interestingly enough, I proposed to my wife right outside this restaurant four years ago and we have tried to go back to it on special occasions. We had not been to the restaurant in a while, but we decided to go there last Saturday night to celebrate our fourth year anniversary. As soon as my wife and I arrived we both asked ourselves: "Why don't we come to this restaurant more often?" But it didn't take us that long to remember why: It was our anniversary night, which they knew ahead about, but they sat us in the noisy bar section. And honest to goodness nobody came by to offer us a menu or drinks for about 20 minutes. When the waiter did come to the table, there was no apology and barely any eye contact. I ordered the salmon, which came out greasy and was really not a good cut of fish. The appetizers were mediocre at best. And even though it was our anniversary, after the less than stellar meal, we decided not to stick around to find out how disappointing the desserts were going to be. We had enough. My wife and I also decided that night that we have given this restaurant enough trials and enough hall passes---at least 8 times---to realize that it is just not that good of a restaurant, particularly when you consider how many incredibly distinctive, delicious and high level of service restaurants there are in LA. However, despite our disappointment, the restaurant appears to be doing great, which I guess is probably part of the problem. Why change when you don't have to? But they're not getting our dollars or special occasions anymore.

The host on front door was an absolute gem. We had a large party that kept increasing in numbers but the host really made it work for our party of 10. Our server however was nowhere to be seen for at least 20minutes which was a shame. I personally enjoy the food here during my visits everytime but there were a couple of people from the group on this night who weren’t too impressed with either the taste or portion size. I’d still say this is a great place for casual dining with great ambience and food/cocktail menu
