   Long wait, service that barely gave any attention, microwave quality food. Would not recommend. Also, incredibly expensive! I’ve paid less for 5 star meals.

   The service, the view of the Charles River, the glass of wine, the pasta, the 3-pie desert, the dining room—it was all perfect, thank you. The staff was friendly and attentive but not intrusive—perfectly perfect, in other words. My son and I enjoyed our experience.

   Dante is great for high end unique Italian food. Their pasta is really special and we loved the calamari and meatballs too. Nice views of the river and lots of free parking on the nearby streets.

    Won’t ever go back to Dante. Slow and poor service. We have to keep requesting things they kept forgetting. We split the bill in two credit cards and we were both charged double. Food was ok but not worth it with all the inconsistencies. Won’t recommend or bother to go back.

    Joanne made sure our large party that showed up early was accommodated and made to feel special The dinning area has spectacular views, the food was fabulous and the entire staff were always available for us Put in on your to do list!

    Our family of 5 enjoyed a great meal here on a nice Sunday. There had been a quick shower so sat inside but I was tempted to move outside when the weather cleared. I was very surprised more people weren’t out enjoying the view. Our meals were very very good - the cod was amazing, and all the pasta dishes delicious. Our starters were yummy too - the calamari and the mozzarella. Highly recommend.

    We wanted to be outside on the patio but it was intermittently raining so they would not seat us outside. It was really loud inside, I could barely hear the person across from me speak. The wait staff was incredibly slow and inattentive. We had to beg for service. The food and drink were really good. We had the cod, which was terrific. It’s a fabulous outdoor place. Given the service, not sure inside is very special and probably better to go somewhere else given the choices in Boston.

    Great outdoor patio spot near the water. Was able to have a wonderful 3 course meal that I shared with my date. Did not feel rushed and had a lovely night. The pasta was great. Espresso Martinis were made incorrectly with cream and they made a new batch without and showed great hospitality throughout.

    We had a reservation for 10 on the patio on Saturday evening and I was happy the restaurant was able to accommodate 2 more on same day. The patio is outstanding with great views to Charles River and Boston skyline, there was a nice breeze and the food was good. The service was a problem. Our waiter was very nice, and I admit our table was challenging, but a) our food arrived at the table more than an hour and a half after ordering; appetizers and main dishes then arrived within minutes of each other so there was no space on the table and your main dish gets cold while you eat your appetizer. (Another waiter then came a minute after I received my appetizer and took maybe 2 bites and asked me if I was still working on it) b) All dishes arrived except for one entree, which took so much additional time that my friend ended up cancelling it and sharing food with her table neighbor. C) Water: somehow sparkling water bottles kept appearing on the table and being replenished without asking us but we had to chase down waiters to get regular water refilled. d)The check: again, I admit it was a challenge to split our bill into individual checks, but the amount of mistakes (mostly around charging full price when someone had half the dish, and charging someone else with my bill that I just sent back for fixing instead of fixing and returning it) were astonishing and it took a very long time to get it all sorted out. (Reservations at 7, still waiting to settle bill by 11pm) I want to acknowledge that Dante ended up taking off the very late entree and a bottle of wine from the bill, after some of my friends complained to the manager about the amount of time everything was taking. I would probably not seek out Dante for another visit with more than ~ 4 people.

    Our meals were pretty good, however the seating and resulting ambiance (or lack thereof) was very bad. We were somewhat responsible for this, admittedly, when the hostess said outdoor seating was "very limited", all but steering us toward indoor seating. We could not see either the dining room or the patio from the hostess station. We were seated in a large dining room, with only one other couple in it. The patio was visible from there, and was lively and it was a nice evening. After awhile the other couple left and we were the only ones there. Customers and waiters streamed by us, all going out to the patio. Seating couldn't have been that "limited" then, and we did have a reservation. Our waiter was very good but the kitchen was very slow. And we felt like were were in the isolation room. In sum, we feel misled by the hostess, and we should have looked more closely before acceding to the suggestion of indoor seating.

    Brunch at Dante's...Always a pleasure with the great view of the river, boats, small sailboats, kayaks, walkers and bikers galore. I had the eggs Purgatorio and felt like I was in my grandmother's kitchen. Everything was so perfect but it was spoiled by the poor service. Long waits, forgetting coffee, cream, water, too bad. But we were so mesmerized we forgave a poor performance. Management tried to help out and spent time with us on the patio and did alleviate any frustrations. Definitely would return.

    Very poor service. 3 different waiters. Ignored most of the time. Got pasta which was of rubbery texture. The sauce was v average. Fish was over cooked. It took 1 hour and 15 minutes to get this un impressive fare. PLEASE AVOID THIS OVER PRICED PLACE

    Dante has been one of my favorite Cambridge restaurants for many years. Recently we've often been disappointed. The food is still excellent although has often come to the table with the sense that it's been sitting for a while. And the service has often been extremely slow. Hopefully this is a temporary hiccup for the restaurant. The patio seating on a warm evening is of course hard to beat.

    Terrible service, we waited over 20 minutes between a salad and pasta. Pasta came out cold, and when I arrived a patio umbrella fell on me, and landed on my shoulder. Nobody asked if I was okay or apologizes, and when I asked that the umbrella be put away (it was very windy and not sunny at all) they said “oh well it wasn’t screwed in properly, now it’ll be fine” It was careless, dangerous, and our server never checked in with us except to ask if we had already received and eaten our salad (because she disappeared for over 20 minutes). Just an awful experience. Don’t go.

    We had a reservation for a large group on a Sunday afternoon. The sun was pretty intense and there were limited umbrellas for shading, but the staff really did immediately jump into action and worked to try to get us as much shade as possible. They arranged one big umbrella and as soon as another table cleared, they got us another one. The service was super quick and super friendly. The food was good and the portion sizes on the shared plates was pretty good! All in all, a really good experience.

    The location is fantastic, however that was all that was fantastic. I expected more for the price and location. I've been before and wasn't thrilled. Two of us ate two course and one of us ate three. We all had different dishes. Not only did nothing impress, but some food was quite salty, and there was one waitress for the entire patio area. This was a Thursday evening, in Boston, with the temperature in the 70's. There are other options for this sort of price that are better value and quality.

    The experience at Dante was terrible. We were there over 3 hours, not a single food order was correct on the first attempt, server paid us no attention, and the hostess was seemingly unable to do anything until she called the manager after two rounds of expressing our displeasure. Will never eat here or stay at the Sonesta again.
