Hands-down the best meal I’ve had in the Bay Area.
Food was outstanding. Only complaint was that service felt rushed throughout the meal, and the check arrived immediately after dessert and tea were brought out. The tea hadn’t even steeped yet. Otherwise, service was quite good and friendly.
Fantastic! So rustic, original and romantic. Gave my boyfriend and I 3 different restaurant options and we decided to try something new and we are so glad we ventured out. A super quaint and unpretentious restau, where we could have a conversation and gaze lovingly at each other. We ordered the green goddess salad which was out if this world. I expected a creamy dressing but instead got a fresh tangy herby concoction. I was in heaven. I ordered the trout for main course and it was delectable. My bf ordered the steak, he really enjoyed it but both were on the rarer side. The sides were well thought out, and layered to perfection. Delicious wine pairings. Great portions and I left there feeling like I ate at a good friends house. We can't wait to come back.
Consistently delicious food and perfect service. It is one of our favorite go-to spots in SF and never disappoints. There servers are well informed, pleasant and professional, and their wine lists is one
of the best secrets in the city.
We sat at the counter and watched all of the food coming out. It was organized, calm, fun and the food was really delicious. The burger is off the charts. We didn't have wine so we're shocked when the bill came and was so reasonable since we split an app and finished with dessert and cappuccinos. Highly recommend!
The food was ok but not
Amy is the best!
the $85 tasting menu with wine pairing is a terrific deal and the food was delicious. restaurant is a bit noisy and dark, but with an interesting crowd.
Overall great experience. Server seemed new but nice and accommodating.
A wonderful little find in the Mission district while on our last trip to San Francisco. This reminds me of the vibrant modern food scene in Portland, OR.
The good it was tasty just a litle bit overpriced. Quite busy restaurant and loud. We were waiting at the door for our table because we arrive early.
As always, great food, excellent service, amazing wine, and a charming space, but the acoustics of the room make conversation a challenge and the proximity of adjacent tables results in less privacy - less of a romantic date night, and more of a dynamic neighborhood corner restaurant.
Always good. Took a party of 6 friends there, 4 of them for the first time; all enjoyed this lovely neighborhood place. Food is creative w/o being in left-field, is reasonably portioned, and always good. Staff is knowledgeable about the food and nice wine offerings. We try to go early before things get busy, which totally fine.
Really enjoyed our meal at Heirloom. Nice setting, food was delicious, service was good.
WE LOVE HEIRLOOM....AND MATT AND HIS STAFF ROCK!!!!!
the Barkers, Kim and Clarence
Fantastic food, terrific wine list. I’d forgotten how much I enjoy their food. Service and ambiemce need some work. Service ranged from slightly attentive to nonexistent, mostly the latter. Noise levels are quite high, even by normal SF Sat. standards - hard to follow conversations even with the person just adjacent. And the HVAC if it exists, needs to be adjusted. It got really hot and slightly smoky from the kitchen.
Food was fine for the price. There's a burger off menu. Wine list is the star Service was awkward. "How large is the portion?" "Well, it's an entree." Not helpful. Tables are tight and it can get loud.
We started with amazing bread and olive oil. We got two cheeses, as well - as a Minnesotan, I was delighted that there were to Minnesota cheeses available and I was not disappointed for choosing them. Both were differently delicious, one nutty and subtle, the other more assertive and tangy. We then had the early girl tomato our silverware was changed at every course without our having to ask, and our wine glasses never got empty even though our thoughtful server had it at the bar on ice. (And did I mention that our server, Amy, gave us the PERFECT wine recommendation?) Everyone was willing to pitch in (no such thing as "I'm not your server, " or "I'm just the busser") and everyone was warm and friendly. Definitely coming back!
Consistently fantastic and delicious, a true Mission gem
As sober people, we truly would like to see more non alcoholic beverages on the menu. The service was mediocre and for the first time, my dinner wasn’t great. I’ve always loved heirloom but was sorely disappointed.
Heirloom has seriously upped their game. Some seriously good food was served including (special mention) the Taleggio Burger which we split four ways (among four people); the Delicata squash with Tahini and pomegranate seeds; the salmon with crispy potatoes and basil bearnaise; the house-made pasta with Maitake mushrooms. Took two special friends with us, both chefs in Canada, and they were suitably impressed.
This was our fourth time at this restaurant. Unfortunately, everything went wrong. The food took forever (over an hour) for two simple dishes. Both were very salty. My partner left his 90% of his pasta. Although I finished my tuna tartare, it had way too much salt. The complimentary salad they served for the long wait was ok but nothing special. I will have to wait a long time to go back to this place. Very disappointing.
Been 4 Xs previously-quite good food and loved the experience. Noise not a problem.
This time party of 8-10 EXTREMELY noisy in center of room. Even staff complained about noise.
Others around us also complained.
Really negatively impacted our dining experience; almost impossible to hear, make selves heard.
Suggest NOT ACCEPTING large parties.
We won’t return; too unpleasant.
Sorry to lose a great dining place.
MISSION NEIGHBORHOOD GEM: Modest setting but enthusiastic, knowledgeable waitstaff, delicious smells from open kitchen, fresh and imaginative ingredients, wildly satisfying dining experience. We particularly enjoyed the corn soup, bacon/onion tart, and tomato salad. Street parking.
Small menu of appetizer and entre dishes mixed together.
Tuna tartare was very good. The chicken breast dish on vegetable mix was very well prepared. The breast was juicy and delicious. Salmon dish and mussels were very good as well. We ordered few deserts that were not too sweet and refreshing. Overall our diner was very good and we all enjoyed Heirloom cafe.
The Salmon was divine.
My date loved her steak.
We both agreed the potatoes were scrumptious.
Will definitely go again.
Great food. Staff very welcoming and priority on customer service.
Our service was fantastic, food was delicious and atmosphere really made for a special night
Heirloom is a hidden gem of the neighborhood. It consistently has some of the best food and is never fussy or pretentious!
WE love Heirloom, for the people first and foremost and the added bonus is the amazing food and great wine list, Matt rocks and so does his staff!!!!!!!
Our favourite neighbourhood restaurant in San Francisco!
Loved the atmosphere and the food was good.
Really great, fresh, authentic food with great service.
This is a buzzing bar! We were late but had called in so all good. Food interesting and open kitchen to watch while waiting
Table staff excellent
Food was either great or over salted, specifically my pasta. The burger is OK, but I think our server oversold it. We ordered two desserts and similarly one was great, the other was average at best. Really good place if you order well.
It’s the best I ever had, the best I ever had the best I ever haaaaaaad
I have been here a few times but this last time was the best. Our server Chris was outstanding and the food and wine and charming atmosphere were all outstanding. Love this gem tucked in the neighborhood - best kept secret!
Had a nice weekday dinner (table of four). The ingredients were fresh and tasty - we did not do the tasting menu but ordered numerous a la carte dishes - everything was superb from the vegetables to the meat/fish.
Heirloom remain one of the best restaurants in the city. It should be impossible to get in. BUT it isn’t. Great value
Delicious food. Outstanding service. Can't wait to return.
