What Insiders Are Saying
We typically love ourselves some Michael White. Though his new hotel restaurant Ai Fiori is a sprawling space with more room than they know what to do with. Set inside The Setai, this is a bit of a cookie cutter hotel restaurant - one that isn't bad, but just isn't quite our style.
Al Fiori was another delightful experience, the place recently maintained its Michelin star status and rightfully so! Place was busy early on so our server lost sight of us several times but he redeemed himself later on. We had a 4 course meal while small in portion, the quality kept me full. I usually enjoy their sunday brunches so this was my first dinner there, worth the visit!
The service was a little lacking at the beginning and end of the meal. It took a long time to first get a waiter or a drink. It took forever after desert to get the check, However, during the middle part of the meal the service was excellent.
Went for our wedding Anniversary.
Service seemed disorganized and timing was off. Was planning on splurging on a wine but our appetizer came out prior to the glasses of champagne we ordered so it took away from the experience and made us feel rushed.
Food was great but due to service inconsistencies ended up going with a far cheaper bottle about third of the price. Restaurant lost on a large check and server missed out on a bigger tip because of it.
Well prepared food that falls short of excellence, perhaps for lack of essential ingredients that would be available in true Italian cuisine. Value not there mainly because the experience is not truly Italian, merely Italian-influenced.
Not good experience.
All around a true 3 star Michelin restaurant. Impeccable service and incredible food. We could not be happier.ent for Birthday celebration on Nov. 8th and going back on Dec. 16th to celebrate the Holidays on a short "staycation" in NYC since we are New Yorkers ourselves. :-)
gracious service and delicious food. I very nice upscale Italian restaurant .
We were there for my girlfriend’s birthday. The service and the food was outstanding. We plan on coming back in the near future.
Daughters birthday was so very special and delicious!!!!
This was our special Anniversary dinner for our NYC trip. The place is very elegant and has a nice view of the city. Our waiter was very friendly and unpretentious. We had the champagne and caviar to start... it was delicious! Wine list was one of the largest we have ever seen. Very expensive but worth it for our special occasion!
One of our favorite restaurants in New York City that consistently delivers exceptional food. On our most recent visit the sommelier specifically matched wines for what each of us ordered and his pairings were masterful. My wife and I can’t wait to go back!
We were constantly being asked by the manager whether “everything continues to be perfect?”
We had not discussed whether everything was perfect in the first place so I thought that this and other similar “standard” questioning gave an unprofessional ambiance which lowered the tone of the restaurant.
The food was ok. Not amazing.
The bar did not have the wine I ordered that was on the fine wine menu.
Won’t be returning.
Arrived a few minutes before 5:30pm, but they couldn't seat us yet. Bar was full, so we had to 'stand' at their front desk till they seated us (about 10 minutes). They could have seated us for cocktails rather than having us just stand there! Finally seated, and reading the menu, we noticed that they didn't have the Gnocci w/brown butter+sage that was advertised on their website...asked the waitress and were told that they change items on the menu often. Asked her if we could get the Gnocci w/brown butter+sage anyway, but were told 'no'. Too bad. What we ordered instead was good but not really what we had intended or wanted. So, all in all, not the best experience for us.
Half the restaurant was empty. With current price for lunch for two with 2 course and 1 glass of wine exceeded $171.00. Does not make much sense anymore to eat there. Unless they change their prices, I predict it will close soon.
We had a wonderful dinner. Food was tasty. Service was top notch. Excellent wine list. Ask for a table by the window.
Excellent place to celebrate a special event - wonderful food, mostly great service (was a little slow at the end).
Top services, great food and very friendly environment
Splurge for breakfast: enjoyed scrambled eggs with black truffles. Overall exquisite service and atmosphere. Must go when visiting NYC
Fantastic as always. We have been here many times and it never fails to disappoint. The bar is also great for meeting before dinner. Bartenders are top notch.
I was somewhat surprised that our soup was tepid at most and my scallops entree the same. Otherwise all else was great.
Food was disappointing. Food was not hot enough and was just ok.
I can’t believe this is a Michelin star restaurant. First we waited about 10 minutes at our table before being presented with menus. The two tables next to us were empty for the first hour of our 3 hour meal. We were handed our menus and then left to ourselves. When ordering our drinks, we asked for Champagne. Instead of making a suggestion or asking for a taste preference, the server pointed at the champagnes on the menu and said he would be back. Ten minutes after our drinks were served, we had to flag down another server to get menu recommendations. When our server finally came back, he asked if we knew how to read the menu. We went along, expecting recommendations but the server educated us on how to read a tasting and a la carte menu. We decided on the four course menu and asked for a wine pairing. Half way through our first course, we had to flag someone down to get a sommelier. The first two courses were nothing to brag about. I then had to send back my main course dish. Even after asking for a sommelier and sending back a dish, our service did not improve. This is usually the point in the evening that one could make up for the mistakes. We waited 20 minutes after being handed our dessert menus. We considered asking to leave but stayed to have dessert for our anniversary and enjoyed the sweets that were presented. We’ve been to a couple Michelin star restaurants and we asked ourselves if our bar has been set too high as a result. The answer was clearly no when we talked about our hometown neighborhood restaurant haunts. A very disappointing experience.
I've had earlier occasions, all business oriented, to dine at this fine restaurant, in groups small and large—the latter in a private room. All excellent. This was the first social only experience: a date night with my wife, our last night in town before heading home to CA. Without the distractions of commercial matters, Al Fiori dazzled even more (or perhaps I just noticed the details), in every way. Highly recommended.
We loved this restaurant. The wine list is incredible. I started out the octopus and it was wonderfully cooked and I paired it with a Rose. For the main course I had a veal chops prepared medium rare and was so tender and juicy and paired with a Pinot noir. Excellent dinner and highly recommended. The staff was wonderful and they know the menu well.
Impeccable service. We order the five course menu and was devine. Starts with crudo and caviar, next house made Spaghetti, then Lamb (the best), manchego cheese and Chocolate dessert. We love and recommend the experience.
Saludos.
One of the best restaurants in the city. Food ranges from very good to superb. Wine list is excellent and the sommelier is even better. Bar scene is quite noisy for a restaurant of this quality and the tables inside the restaurant near to the bar are unacceptably loud.
Very good food and a great service
Waitstaff is superb. Food is excellent. A very nice dining experience.
It deserves another Michelin Star.
Love the food and the presentation . Lunch was great value. Service was impeccable.
We had a great time at Ai Fiori, but was later informed that open table points don’t apply. No explanation, but advised to visit the community to get answers. Who has time and who decided?
Ai Fiori is not as good as usual. Too greasy. We are very disappointed with the food.
Everything was great but what we will remember best was the truly outstanding service. Exceptional!
Food was very good as was service, but a bit overpriced in my estimation compared to other high end restaurants. Enjoyed Ristorante Morini, part of the same restaurant group, more at less cost, although a more traditional menu. Thought the wine list was quite overpriced. Many of the labels are not well know so hard to compare prices with other restaurants. Still, we did enjoy the meal, as well as a breakfast we also had there.
Twice there and food is fabulous. Great spot, we’ll worth a visit
An excellent tasting menu with exquisite wine pairings, and above all a great service by very friendly and accommodating staff. Caviar service was also excellent and very reasonably priced. Cocktails were great too. Overall atmosphere was cozy and relaxing. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a special experience.
Excellent food, we enjoyed pastel dishes and tomahawk. They have a very comprehensive wine list. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Food portion is very generous.
Unfortunately I wasn’t impressed by food. I was more pleased by simpler and cheaper food in other places. However, the ambiance and service made me feel as a guest of Michelin star restaurant. That was a good experience!
Also, I really liked the variety of wines in the list!
The menu choices were varied and everything we tried was delicious. The service was wonderful.
