Established in 1879, Huber's is Portland's Oldest Restaurant. It was originally called the "Bureau Saloon". Mr. Huber was involved from the beginning as a bartender, bought out the original owner then changed the name to Huber's.
In the old days if you bought a drink you got a free turkey sandwich. This is how the turkey tradition started. Today Huber's cooks 150 lbs of turkey a day. It's Thanksgiving everyday at Huber's serving a traditional turkey dinner every day. We also serve Certified Angus Beef and fresh seafood. Huber's is also known for its famous Spanish Coffee. The drink is made table-side with great fanfare. It's is a lot of fun and very tasty. Come in and enjoy Old Portland at its best.

We called in about a week ago and made reservations for the 22nd of December. We drove over from Tillamook and showed up early to check in and they informed us that the person we spoke to didn't enter our reservation into the system and there wasn't anything they could do for us. We have been coming here for years and it has apparently gone down hill since our last visit. So sad to see such an iconic Portland fixture be ran by such incompetence. I can't speak for the food, but the service is severely lacking. Get your act together!

We always love to come to Hubers! Great food, wonderful drinks and exceptional service! I was disappointed the last two times when I made the reservation thru Open Table, but arrived at the restaurant to find they did not have the reservation. Hubers was gracious enough to accommodate us even though we were a group of 10-12. Kudos to Hubers! We will be back!

The location is beautiful, the history is interesting, the service was incredible unfortunately my food wasn't good. I really wanted it to be, I had the fettuccini alfredo with vegetables (there are almost zero vegetarian options) , pretty easy dish to make. It was way overseasoned with pepper and the sauce was watery. It was like pepper soup with noodles. I didn't say anything and give them a chance to remedy the situation as I didn't want to ruin the vibe at the table while we celebrated.

Haven't been to Huber's in a very long time and decided we would try it for our anniversary. Instead of seating in the restaurant we were seated in the lounge not really what I expected. It was loud and the seating was not comfortable. Food was good but it just wasn't what we expected when I made the reservation.

The service and ambiance were excellent, as was the food, with an exception: I had the Roast Tom Turkey dinner -- but the sage dressing was over-the-top salty. I did not eat it. We had a great time and it was so nice to be in a booth to be able to hear each other and enjoy ourselves. Huber's is a fine Portland tradition and the Spanish coffee and turkey live up to their reputation of excellence. We will definitely want to dine at Huber's again.

Thanksgiving every day?!? What could be better? I asked for all dark meat turkey (could have had white or combo but I prefer dark). Turkey was juicy, dressing was perfect, as was the gravy and sweet potato. Broccoli could have been cooked just a tad more, but that's me. Hubby had the ham and mashed potatoes. He also had the Spanish coffee, which is quite the production and quite tasty. Portland's oldest restaurant. The menu is quite varied so if Thanksgiving isn't your favorite, no problem! Obviously the locals love it, not just "tourists." Would go again if ever we revisit Portland.

My wife and I made a reservation for a date night, thinking it’d be a nice, quiet meal. When we arrived, we were told to head back to the “historical” restaurant due to having a reservation. The historical restaurant was extremely loud, such that we had to talk very loudly to hear each other. Contrasted with the front of the restaurant which was much more pleasant. The table was extremely wobbly, causing my water glass to spill some as I cut into my strip steak. Overall, the experience was pretty disappointing.

We were very happy with our recent dining experience at Huber's Restaurant. It was not our first time to Huber's and whenever we go, we ask for a table in the front of the restaurant rather than in the back. The back is great for those who want to see the spectacular Spanish coffee pouring, but we prefer the quiet of the front of the restaurant. The food was most excellent and I really appreciate the portion sizes. (I'm afraid I must not be a foodie who is happy to pay big money for a 2 oz portion of food so I like having enough food that I won't be snacking an hour from my meal!) We were very pleased, too, with the attention and welcoming manner of the restaurant staff!

This was recommended to us by a friend while in town for a wedding. I understand it's the oldest restaurant in Portland, but I would describe it as "nothing special." The menu is very turkey heavy and the food itself is fine, but again, nothing incredibly unique or worth driving out of the way.

Worst dining experience in years. Where do I start? Salad came out before appetizers. Then when finished with salad and appetizers they sat there along with our empty water glasses for over 10 minutes and we had to ask for them to be removed. Next they sat a non-service animal dog right next to my feet. It was truly disgusting to eat with another persons dog at my feet. Next the main courses came out. My wife had filet medium well and it was burnt to a crisp. My Hazelnut crusted Halibut has no Hazelnut, but was a quality piece of fish. Then we were done and waited another 10 minutes plus for our plates to be cleared and I had to ask to pay so we could get out. I thought they must have been short handed and asked and waitress said no they were not short handed... wow. Utterly horrible experience. This is the first time Open Table ratings have let me down.

Our server was awful. He kept cutting us off and never came back to ask if we needed anything after giving us our food. He was extremely unfriendly and my “salad” had a bunch of really wilted brown pieces in it so I didn’t even really eat it. I have been here before and had a great experience previously so this was VERY disappointing. Overall though I believe the majority was due to the very rude waiter we had.

Our waitress was new and had little willingness to check on things she wasn’t familiar with. She kept saying she COULD check but didn’t choose to. It was a struggle to get dinner for four ordered. As usual, the Spanish Coffees were the standout item at this Portland favorite. The manager apologized and gave us a certificate for later use - which we appreciated. If you have food sensitivities, there are any number of places in town where having a nice meal isn’t so much work.

Visiting Portland for business, had my wife and 2 of my kids with me, found Huber’s on TripAdvisor and saw that it was Portland’s oldest restaurant and thought it looked really cool. We ordered the steamed mussels at happy hour.Amazing!! So tender and flavorful. Ordered the Ribeye, cooked to perfection and a good value. The merlot butter on top was a perfect pair! All the food was perfectly seasoned and so full of flavor. Would recommend it to anyone.

Huber's has been one of our favorite Portland 'go to' restaurants, but somehow it is losing some of what made it so popular. We had the turkey dinner and the turkey was very good, but the dressing was dried up, as were the potatoes, as if they were sitting for way too long. The dinner came with broccoli that tasted more like garlic than broccoli.....too much garlic! The usually amazing beer bread was also very dense and dry, not at all what it use to be. In the past this place was booming with people enjoying happy hour or an early dinner, but the bar was almost empty.....not good. We will give it another try as we would hate to lose this gem, but please Huber's get back to what you use to do.

Huber’s is our favorite for lunch in downtown Portland. You can have a real lunch there not just soup and salad. Traditional plated meals such as ham, turkey, or salmon are excellent. Wonderful soup and Cole slaw as an appetizer. Fantastic desserts and, of course, the signature Spanish coffee. Huber’s is our “go-to” restaurant for entertaining out of town guests and for lunch on special occasions.
