   We wanted something close to Madison Square Garden since we were going to the Billy Joel concert. Liked the idea that the Statler had history. Liked that the place looked old since it transported us back to the "Old New York". The place was clean and the food really good despite what the other negative reviews said. When I got there it was not so crowded and Lesley the hostess was really nice and suggested this special table for 2 for my husband and I that was really great. Wait staff were really pleasant and had no problem ordering and getting our food in a timely fashion to get done before needing to leave for the concert. Had the special homemade cream of mushroom soup and the filet mignon sandwich with frazzled onions that were to die for. A bit of a disappointment was the wedge salad which did not comes with blue cheese dressing and bits of bacon like I am used to. But all in all if you like the old, and want a bit of nostalgia, give Statler Grill a try.

   Were greeted by very nice hostess and once seated two waiters on separate occasions approached us Food was quick and very good--steak--fish Dessert--New York Cheesecake was very good as well

   We reserved a table here strictly on the basis of having received coupons promising one free drink each plus 25% off the cost of the meal as we were / are still current guests at the Pennsylvania Hotel. Upon arrival, we were asked if we had “any kind of coupon,” only to be told that ours was “no longer valid.” Mind you...same hotel stay, no such condition indicated in the coupon, 1000 other possible dining choices.in NYC in any given day. We had had a long day, with our work on exhibition at a nearby art show and so not in the mood to argue or go get coats to go elsewhere and we stayed. However, since we were being asked to pay full price on their somewhat pricey menu—rivaling trendy Zuma where we had dined the prior evening—I opted, on principle, for a much lesser meat selection and so cannot comment whether the ‘titular fare’ at this steakhouse lives up to claims. On the positive side, service was decently cordial and a couple of the dishes that we did order were surprisingly original and tasty. It is therefore unfortunate that a bit of “bait & switch” had to diminish our overall experience.

   Drinks were great but I had a vodka on the rocks. Ordered the Maryland Crab cake. Red Lobster offered better. If you are going to MSG and are in a bind.......order a hot dog when you get there.

   After reading all the negative reviews about Statler Grill, I kept my expectations low. To my surprise, the food turned out to be delicious: tomatoes with mozzarella were exquisite, porterhouse was amazing. Desserts were so-so. But overall experience was great and I would repeat it without any hesitation

    The restaurant is in need of a renovation. Floors were scuffed and scrapped. Smelled old. Service was very good and overall food was good but overpriced. Nothing creative in presentation and dinnerware was old. Would not go back unless there was a renovation and an upgrade to the food.

    Far too hot in the restaurant, even in February. When I asked if it was always this hot they said there was no AC. Everyone was sweating. If I hadn't pre paid with Groupon I would have walked out. Food was fine. Nothing spectacular.

    I had a groupon the menu was limited for Groupon users it seems the porterhouse steak for two was small for two people. The picled your sides. I won’t be here again

    Waiters are very attentive and friendly. Food is served very timely. No loud music, good enough for conversing with friends. If you want to get to know someone, it's an excellent spot. It's a very relaxing atmosphere.

    We love the Staller Grill and come here often. Tonight was the worst service that we have ever experienced at this restaurant. It was early on a Sunday night, so we can’t blame it on crowds. Dinner took forever...causing us to miss two trains out of Penn. Here are the highlights: when the salad arrived WITHOUT salad dressing, I grabbed the waitresses’ attention. She replied, “Oh” and walked away...never to return with said dressing. When the plates were being cleared, we ordered coffee and tea. Our desserts arrived without our drinks. 20 minutes later, after the dessert dishes were cleared, our drinks arrived. It took another 20 minutes to get the check. Very disappointed this time.

    Server was not attentive and didn’t attend to us at all. We asked for napkins and never received any. We was told we could only order from a certain menu but they didn’t have most of the items on it. Then when we did order the server changed our order to what she wanted and it was horrible.

    Despite having a reservation we waited 40 minutes to sit. Waiter was all sweaty and flustered. Bill had to be corrected. Not a good choice for our anniverary dinner. Will not return.

    The brunette hostess with an accent was very short with me on the phone and told me that even though I had made a reservation via open table, there was not room for us in the restaurant and it would be an hour wait for my family and I. We were celebrating a special occasion and were disappointed to find out we didn’t have any place to celebrate. Luckily, we found another place, that had a much more pleasant environment with a lower volume to chat

    My friends and I discovered Statler Grill through Groupon and decided to try it out for brunch. The food was okay. I ordered the steak and eggs, but the steak was undercooked. I asked for medium but it was basically rare. They took the same steak, threw it back on the grill, and it was still undercooked. They took the same steak back one more time, threw it on the grill again, and I just came to terms with the fact this is the closest to medium I’m going to get without them burning my steak. Melissa was our server and she was WONDERFUL! She made sure our mimosas were constantly filled and even bonded with us!

    Might have been a quiet night at Statler Grill, but the noise level was something that is rare in today's NY dining- you could actually have a conversation without shouting. It was perfect. Our server, Drew, was excellent. He was always there when needed and never when not- again, perfection. Drew was engaging and his suggestions were spot-on and appreciated. The food was good, hot and tasty. Dominic, the maitre'd was also friendly and was a nice part of a lovely evening. I would recommend Statler Grill to anyone looking to have a good meal in a really nice atmosphere

    Had a wonderful night out sharing the giant (and delicious) Porterhouse for two! Lovely “old New York” atmosphere accompanied with great service made this a night to remember! Come sink into a corner booth with a cocktail and feel transported back in time.

    I had a great time with my family, we all love the restaurant and My fiancé also loves it there, the food was amazing and the server Melissa was excellent. I’ll definitely recommend Statler House to all my friends and family.

    Went for Sunday brunch. Most items listed on the menu were not available. I ordered the steak and eggs which was supposed to be with a filet mignon. However, there was a strip of fat on the steak. My boyfriend ordered the pancakes with blueberries since he couldn't get french toast or waffles. The pancakes came with the blue berries on the side. Poor food, poor service....STAY AWAY....you've been warned

    We settled on the Statler Grill primarily for the menu options and proximity from our hotel. Before going I read other reviews which did indicate it was not kid-friendly. However, my husband and I decided to give it a try with our 2 boys (ages 9 & 5). Online booking was easy and upon arrival we were seated within a few minutes next to 2 other tables of families w/children. Because of the noise level our boys fit right in :) The food was great and without asking our boys order (shared) was already placed on 2 separate plates with an equal amount of fries! Service was great as well. I Highly recommend the Statler Grill for an evening out with or without your kids, especially if you are a family looking to get away from the typical NYC family food traps of Times Square.

    I dine here frequently due to it's proximity to MSG. Service was terrible, even though they knew we were attending a show. It took an hour for main course to arrive, only after we flagged down the waiter and he personally expedited our food. Tables on top of each other. Very loud crowd.

    Dined before Billy Joel concert. We were seated immediately, drinks served quickly and our food order was taken with a lot of patience and when we finally placed our order, the food came quickly, hot and delicious. The waiting staff lead by Tim was outstanding! Very attentive at such a busy time. This dining experience was the highlight of our evening! Can't say enough about how perfect the Statler Grill was! Hope to visit again!

    I usually don't critique restauarants, however, we dined at the Statler Grill prior to a Knicks game. Cut of Filet Mignon was poor in quality. Service was prompt. Not going back.
