Everything was great! A memorable dining experience in a beautiful historic hotel.
Went for the prime rib which was listed as smoked. Tasted like liquid smoke and the presentation was like from a soup kitchen. The service was good in the restaurant. The bartender was a jerk. Acted like we were bothering him. The ombiance of the restaurant itself was very good
Pleasant food! A friendly waitperson. Ambiance that evening was relatively quiet.
The swordfish was excellent! Thanks for an enjoyable evening.
We had an amazing dinner with excellent service. Our waiter was outstanding and went over our expectations! Can’t wait to go back
Nice facility and friendly staff but food is mediocre at best. Ordered a hummus plate as a table app and it got delivered with the entres after repeated inquiries.
I ordered the special of the night-grilled wahoo with black squid ink risotto. The fish was like a hockey puck in texture - it literally clunked when tapped with a fork. It was totally dry and inedible. I sampled my dining companions meals as well. The peas and green beans were undercooked and flavorless.
Overall a disappointing experience. Too bad because the quality of the food seems good but the chef needs some help.
Server had too many tables, resulting in long times between visits to table and especially long delay before first drink and food orders. But he was as attentive as possible, sometimes pausing on his was to another table to let us know he hadn't forgotten about us. Overall the food was very good and a good value for downtown Boulder.
Better than expected.
Great food and service
Nice restaurant at the Bolderado Hotel. Creative and tasty menu items with a local flair. Was a good choice for road weary travelers looking for a great refreshing meal, and connection to Bolder.
Wine list was adequate but unremarkable. Perhaps not their emphasis. Looks like lots of local brew options and creative cocktails.
We were seated at 5pm, as the restaurant was opening. There were very few customers at the time, yet our service was really slow. Bread wasn't offered until we asked. We waited for bread, while our salads were on the table. Food was very good, though the server didn't come back to check with us.
The place was understaffed. So our server didn’t pay much attention to us. One of our fish plates came out undercooked. The other entree was good, but nothing special. The booth we were in kept buzzing for some strange reason. With as much good food as there is in this town, I don’t think I’ll be coming back.
The food was good when it came but the kitchen (not the waiter) was painflly slow.
They take great care on gluten free options. Either they are available or can alter an existing menu item - seems a lot is from scratch so they can do that. Staff is great and friendly and knowledgeable.
Clean, light, friendly, with a nice bar. The Boulderado's Victorian ambiance is also a plus. Will come back again and again for low-key fine dining.
Fabulous waitress - food was warm and perfectly cooked, waitress came around
with coffee frequently, attentive but not overly so, we were respected,
fruit with meal was varied and fresh - attractively presented
This was the first time I have eaten at Spruce Farm and Fish that was not a 5-star experience. I ordered the spinach salad ($11.95), and it was very short on all ingredients other than the spinach, and even it did not look very fresh. I like a salad with a lot of variety in it, and with no black lines around the edges of the greens. This review is starting to sound harsh, but this meal simply did not live up to the previous experiences I've had there.
We were not told that a group was arriving an hour after we arrived, and had reserved the porch, where we had been seated. There was a lot of noise as all the other tables were cleared and re-set, and chairs rearranged. My friend and I had planned on a long, leisurely visit on the porch, but at least we were able to continue our conversation in the beautiful lobby.
This won't deter me from going again, based on my other visits, and I sincerely hope my next review will be much more positive.
Becka was excellent. She was taking care of the entire porch with appropriate attention to all the tables
Great breakfast options, nice service and ambiance, and able to take a reservation for breakfast during the busy CU Boulder Family Weekend.
Very nice and varied menu !
Was a crazy busy Boulder weekend. Restaurant was packed. Food was delicious and cocktails outstanding.
I love Spruce Farm and Fish. A few items are great for non-meat eaters. Awesome happy hour.
This is an awesome restaurant that has maintained its high quality and ambiance consistently from its opening years ago. Great farm to table menu, friendly staff and complex and innovative approach to meals.
Very nice meal. Tried the lamb ribs as I have never seen them on a menu before and they were delicious, delicate and flavorful. Service outstanding, Becca a CSU student has a great presence and charm. It was very busy tonight being homecoming and parents weekend and the kitchen, front house and bartenders did not miss a beat.
The Mustard Crusted Verlasso Salmon Salad is simply perfect, especially when paired with their barrel-aged Manhattan. Delicious, healthy, and priced right.
On the whole everything was good. The food was a solid B. The Mediterranean appetizer plate was fine, but kind of sloppily presented. A guy in kitchen whites brought it to the table and without much fanfare tossed it down. It was arranged pretty thoughtlessly, but was for the most enjoyable. Hummus with too little chopped olives, some asparagus, some cold (intentionally I guess) corgettes. Too few pita triangles for three people, but again, it was fine. The two women in the party had the trout and enjoyed it. I had the steak and fries, medium rare. The fries were quite good, hot, salted and seasoned perfectly. And the arugula salad was tasty. We all partook in the fries. The steak went from well-done to almost rare from one slice to another...not evenly cooked in other words. But I did eat it all. We had the chocolate cake and asked for ice cream. It came with whipped cream. It was good also, although a bit dense. The service was...she seemed a bit distracted. What I love most about the place is that it's quiet and enables good conversation. The booths are comfortable and the lighting is just right. All in all, I give it a B...but a bit more attentive service and attention to presentation would help.
Food was excellent. Despite the appearance that there was a lot of staff, our service was very poor. We waited a very long time for anyone to approach our table with water and to order drinks. But as I said, when the food cane, it was very good!
Nice place....the hotel is gorgeous. Good menu and food was good. I would definitely go here again. Scallops were delicious. Husband had halibut and enjoyed it very much.
Great food great ambience. Server was very attentive and responsive. Music level and overall ambience was spot on. Food and drink or exceptional. Eat brunch on Sunday as it’s one of the best brunches in Boulder
Really good fish and chips!
My favorite place in Boulder for reliably great service and excellent food.
The food was amazing!!
we enjoyed our dinners very much and since we came early-to avoid a noisy crowd-we were pleased that it was quiet. the menu described the trout dinner to have wild rice and asparagus, it was very good but the rice was white rice with maybe 10 pieces of wild rice. that description should be changed.
we will be back for another visit and would take out-of-town guests for a early dinner in the future. too much crowd noise, so much that it’s hard to have a conversation, is not at all appealing even tho a lot of restaurants encourage it, we avoid that completely. thanks
Fantastic as usual. My only comment is that servers need to be careful not to gossip about customers on the floor where they can be over heard. Kids are customers too!
Nice fun place with great mixed drinks.
Food was delicious. Lots of gluten free options. We started with the deviled eggs which were ok. Entrees we chose were a special pork loin and bison Bolognese and both were fantastic. Service was perfect
Great food, great service. Love checking out the lobby of the old yet beautifully maintained hotel.
Recipes were good but the preparation was iffy. My waffles were raw, my friend’s crab cakes luke warm and the table next to us had similar issues of execution.
All in all was good option of ordering off HH menu & regular. Service was great. Apps good but $10 for calamari on the HH is $2 more than it should be especially when it's good but not great. $29 for halibut - meh, no flavor. $27 tuna was freezer grade, $29ish for lamb which was so gamy you couldn't swallow it...pork shank was $25ish and best meal ... definitely buy far...
