We had the tasting menu. First rate dining experience. Each course was superb in presentation, taste and size. Intervals between courses was perfectly judged and service was attentive (not overly so) and friendly throughout.
Food - delicious, imaginative, thoughtful, fresh ingredients with interesting combinations. I had cod which was possibly the freshest and best produced cod I’ve ever eaten in a long life. My husband's Welsh lamb was carefully cooked and beautifully presented.
Service - the waiters and staff work really hard. I don’t mean to say they seem harassed or make diners feel uncomfortable, I mean that I watched them keep on top of all requests and orders in a quiet efficient way but it was hard work.
Our waiter’s wine suggestions were thoughtful and went well with our food. My husband knows much about wine but likes to try other people’s suggestions. This is sometimes not a good idea as he would have chosen better but last night we were pleased with the suggestions.
Our seats were comfortable and the room comfortingly old fashioned by which I mean that wall coverings and carpets on the floor cut down the echo of the buzz of conversation so that those who are becoming a little deaf can hear and take part in conversation.
delicious food and great bottle of wine - thoroughly enjoyed it.
Excellent food, top clas service, and a lovely atmosphere. Highly recommended.
The best Sunday Lunch I've had in a while. Excellent service and food !
Consistently good cooking , tasting menu is excellent . Crab dish v good. After a number of years it is time to retire the Jaffa dessert.
Fantastic place that never disappoints me. I come here for lunch often as work across the street. Service is fab and 3 course for 20 pounds is a great value considering how fresh ingredients are and presentation is exceptional.
At first, I was put off by what I expected may be the stilted atmosphere of an established, traditional English restaurant in a fancy part of London. I tried it anyway, partly because if a restaurant lasts 20 years in this city, it is likely worth trying, and partly because the summer menu was great value at 3 courses (and a glass of prosecco) for £35. I am really glad that I did. We sat outside until it got a little chilly and then moved inside. No fuss was made about the request to move, which endeared me immediately. We had delicious generous glasses of ice-cold bubbly (not something one can bank on) served with a little surprise of a rich and creamy cheese-filled choux amouse-bouche. I do love an amuse-bouche.
Then came freshly baked soda bread and butter. Call me old fashioned, but for me, a restaurant without a bread basket is a Pret. Even more Pret-esque to be charged for it.
Our waiter happily discussed the menu with me, and I am admittedly a question-filled patron(ess). He recommended the cheaper dish - another rare occurrence. The food was all the good parts of traditional (quality ingredients, balanced sauces, tried and tested combinations) with a welcome twist to shake off the boring (chicken leg served in the style of duck confit; panna cotta served in the style of a mousse with berry sorbet).
My highlight was two dishes. The first was the crab starter. Dense brown-meat paté (or was it mousse?) topped with shredded white meat. The freshness of the dish really allowed the subtle sweetness of the crab to take centre stage. It was also a rather generous portion, creatively plated and served in a rustic earthy bowl. So luxurious.
The second highlight was the pork cheek croquette (they call it pig's head, but I can't quite stomach typing that, though I had no problem stomaching the dish). Balanced; not too salty; decadently creamy and crunchy at the same time. I'm happy to get behind top to tail dining if this is what it tastes like.
We'll be back!
Great location, was first visit and
had a wonderful evening. Enjoyed the set Summer menu which was outstanding and amazing value. We were attended to by most polite and pleasant staff. Certainly recommend visiting 🙂
Odette’s was a joy. We had an early evening supper. Our particular needs were catered for effortlessly. They have a ‘can do’ attitude which is very refreshing. The food was fabulous. The gluten free options totally delicious.. home made GF bread is a rare find. My only comment would be that I’m not sure passion fruit cream needs chocolate!
Beautiful setting. Great value. Delicious food.
A gem in London! The quality and price of the lunch menu is a real differentiation that makes us come to this part of London quite often.
Good value, solid lunch menu
Just nice restaurant with amazing food in a very nice area. Perfect!
The food is excellent, service is attentive, but relaxed, and the sets are extremely good value. If there is one minor complaint, it would be good if there were three rather than two choices for both the starter and main courses.
An enjoyable birthday lunch. Very welcoming and friendly staff. Food presented a bit of a triumph of choreography over quantity. Access to the toilets involves steep stairs: very dodgy for someone with mobility problems.
Lovely little restaurant, really lovely food, great staff and good wine selection.
Already planning another visit. Really beautiful plates of creative food. Absolutely delicious and with little surprise flavour combos. Was a delight. Staff helped with our pram too and it made being new parents getting out for a posh lunch really special- thank you!
Great food and wines. not very busy but would go back. Really nice
Very nice welcoming. Good service and excellent menu offer at lunch time for £25 inc house wine and coffee!
Card was nice too with very tasty and inventive food. Not disappointed at all, a feast for your tastebuds!
Took a while for our orders to be taken and the food was a lot slower coming out than previous trips to oddettes but the food was fantastic as per usual and we had a great evening; thoroughly enjoyed
Had three course Sunday lunch great value.fantastic desserts
Amazing food and amazing service in a cozy setting
The food and service was excellent I really enjoyed the chicken dish with broad beans !
We had the Summer Menu which is a perfect size if you are not too hungry. Everything was tasty with some unique combinations. Nice interior we sat for a few hours without being disturbed. Food arrived swiftly. Generally a nice place to eat without having to go into the heart of town.
Lovely restaurant in lovely part of London. Great location for eating before Roundhouse gig. Outside tables but imagine is cosy in winter. Polite service and beautifully presented food. Enjoyed a great bin end wine too.
We really enjoyed our evening...the food was delicious and service was attentive but unobtrusive
We have eaten at Odette’s several times since Bryn took over and we have had wonderful and excellent service each time. We were particularly looking forward to our meal on Saturday. Whilst the food was good we were sorely disappointed in the service which was abysmal and definitely NOT delivered with a smile. Food was a very long time being served (3 and a half hours from start to finish!!!) and drink orders were forgotten about. OVERALL VERY DISAPPOINTING.
It’s been a few years since I’ve been to Odettes and it was great to be back. Outstanding lunch in a lovely setting. Highly recommend.
Charming new styling to the restaurant in comparison with 10 years ago when I was there last time. Food was imaginaive and had enough French styling to make it special and showed the work of a British artist on the walls so a nice balance.
It's certainly a 'special occasion' sort of place and will make sure I have it on my mental list when the next event arises.
A very relaxed meal on a Sunday afternoon. Bryn Williams the Chef was very accommodating and came round to talk to us. The taster menu is well worth trying. Very courteous staff.
Excellent value early evening special menu. Limited choice not surprisingly but delicious. Very high standard of service. Would definitely go again.
The food was delicious and the service and atmosphere were as good as ever. However the portions (main cod course and main sirlion) were far too small - not good enough for that (or any!) price. I would probably recommend but I won’t be rushing back.
Lovely place in a pretty quiet part of London . Lovely to feel the French approach to food again. The vegetarian taster menu was delicious. Service just a bit slow at the beginning, made up for by the quiet celebrities we dined in the company of.
Our first visit to Odettes on the recommendation from a friend. Thoroughly enjoyed. Food superb. Diolch
We have come here five times - including for our first date, engagement and anniversaries- it never disappoints. Brilliant food, attentive staff and always something special on the menu.
A very good experience sometimes portion feels a bit small but overall an excellent supper.
Excellent venue for a nice dinner with friends or loved ones
Great place for a special family lunch. Loved the little garden. Food was outstanding.
Odette’s delivers the goods every time: wonderful food, friendly service, and great value. One of our all-time favourites.
