Great food and great service as always!
Amber was a great server. Just the right amount of attention!! And so pleasant!!
Happy hour was the perfect start for the end of a holiday weekend. Andrew was attentive and friendly.
Dinner was perfect with enough options to please specialty diets.
The crusted mustard chicken was a nice alternative to standard entrees. Seafood pasta Alfredo was delicious. Be sure to try the desserts.
Service by Charles was excellent.
This was our first visit and we will return.
After making a reservation a week in advance for party of four, we were seated in the crowded bar area. It was the second time I’ve been seated there and the ambience is not great when people are standing around your table as your trying to enjoy your dinner.
The only problem I had was the energetic children behind me who kept bouncing on their seats causing mine to be uncomfortable.
We were 2 couples. My wife and I ordered hamburger because the waitress said their meat is good. The burgers were both burned on the edge and absolutely tasteless. The bun was so regular. For $13 or $14 burger you expect a more delicate bun. It took a while till our plates were removed for desert and took more to get our desert menu. Our first and last time for my wife and I!!
Thursday night and packed. Highly recommend making a reservation. Food, atmosphere and service all excellent. 4 stars because I think the food is a big overpriced.
Good vegetarian options.
The staff was extremely helpful, and my companion, who is vegan, appreciated the Kitchen whipping up a custom meal for her. I had the super crunch salad, minus the quinoa, and it was delicious! Great, casual ambiance, but not too noisy. Highly recommend!
Excellent food as always!!
Excellent food we were surprised it’s not rated higher in culinary circles. We’re foodie people.
Food was great, but there was an initial problem with service. Our assigned server was swamped. When another waiter took over, type customary good service ensued.
Consistently good food and friendly service! I go back often for favorites!
Our server, Michael, was great too!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Always a fresh great meal at NYAJOE'S!!!! Had the salmon with spinach and green beans and it was just so tasty!
Wait staff is just so friendly and on top of things!
Managers are the BEST!!!!!
Not Your Average Joe’s was just that, average. They were out of 1 of their 3 soups (let us know when the other soup was brought to the table), had trouble understanding dietary restrictions, and had generally slow service. On the other hand, the food we did get was consistently, well, Average. Spend your dining dollars elsewhere.
Babies night out
Good as usual. We had the Salmon with pesto, Jambalaya, and Chicken Piccata. Portions were good size except that the salmon portion could have been larger considering the price. Only down side was that the first first round of foccacia was cold and hard.
Pleasant experience, good food, reasonable prices, great waiter and friendly, accommodating wait staff.
Excellent soup for s cold day & attentive service
Always consistent, great value. The Reston, VA location is a great alternative to paying for parking at Reston Town Center.
A little too much garlic on the Caesar salad. Otherwise, everything was fine as always.
The food was wonderful - scallops were perfectly cooked which is very hard to find! The burger, enchiladas and haddock were also delicious.
Special thanks to our server who was very attentive and nice. He made sure my customized iced tea was exactly what I wanted and our meals arrived quickly since we had to catch a flight out of Dulles. Overall, we couldn't have asked for a better experience.
I always enjoy eating here. The bread with seasoned cheesy olive oil is wonderful but I'm always tempted to eat too much. I love the rosemary skewered scallops, the simply grilled salmon, the sirloin tips, among others. The peanut butter thing is amazing, if a waistline buster. The service is usually good.
I have been going to NYAJ for several years now and one thing that I absolutely love is the chef will usually accomodate something even if it is not on the menu. I asked the server about the Harvest Mac N Cheese and she said that the October Fest menu had just ended the week before. Not sure why she was telling me that as this particular item is a Fall Menu offering they do each year. I was waiting for her to offer to check with the chef to see if he could make, but she never did. Highly disappointed as that was the reason I came there that evening. Not sure I will be returning.
Have always felt at home each time i have been there.
Crowded restaurant with consistently good food. Waiters are friendly. Parking can be a problem is the restaurant is busy.
Lunch for Boss's Day with five of us. Everything was great!
Reliably good food and great service. The noise level is moderate allowing easy conversations.
Have missed the NYAJ spot that closed near me so we visit this one to get our periodic fix. Never disappoints. Good menu options, great service and always busy so that should tell you something.
Nicely varied menu with many options. Food was hot and great taste. Service was spotty at best. My wife arrived first and had to interrupt the staff at reception from talking with each other so she could provide our reservation details and be seated - like she wasn't even there when she walked in. Then, our server brought our drinks and that was the last we saw of her for the next half hour or more. We wanted more bread after our meals arrived but I couldn't find her anywhere in the dining room. Finally went back to reception and asked them for bread since we hadn't seen our server.
Cheese Steak Egg Rolls is must have! Two Thumbs Up!
This is my favorite restaurant in Reston and have never had bad service until this last meal. The waitress seemed to have no personality or desire to serve, i.e. take the order and disappear until it was necessary to do the obligatory check-ins, which were rare in her case. On two occasions we had to flag down another waiter to get a refill on our drinks and replace a fork that had been taken away after the appetizer dishes were cleared. I will still go back to Not Your Average Joe's because the food is great the the atmosphere is energetic, and hope that we don't get that same waitress.
Our server 'Dutch' was great. Friendly, efficient, attentive but not overbearing. I ordered crispy french fries and received crispy french fries. May sound small, but really one of my benchmarks for restaurants. My food was very good, one of our guests had the shrimp tacos and reported they were lacking in flavor but the plantains were delicious. Only improvements on service was that since there were several others assisting with our table, when drink refills were brought several times had to request to take the empty glass away. Also had to request a straw, okay that they are not automatically handed out, but would be nice if they were offered on the front end.
It’s freezing cold in the restaurant. My order was messed up twice. The waitress was clueless. My steak was medium rare was terrible tough- I brought it home and gave it to my pup. The bathroom could have been cleaner. The only good part about this restaurant is the bread and olive oil. I’m in no rush to go back
Ladies room needed help very dirty
Meal not cooked
Kelly, our server was fantastic.
Great Octoberfest choices!
We stopped in for lunch on a Sunday. We liked that the menu was varied and had brunch and lunch options. I had a Bloody Mary that was not the worst I’ve had, but close. The bacon add-on was cold and coated in clumped fat. The drink was diluted and the house mix was bland. The special soup was very good, but the everything bagel smoked salmon flatbread was doughy and soggy. My husband asked for horseradish for his sandwich, and it arrived after he was done. The waitress didn’t bother to ask My husband what size beer he wanted, so automatically brought the larger more expensive one. It was not busy, but clearly fake in her offers of help for anything. If we need a fast option while out in the area, we may try again, but not on a Sunday when staff are uninterested in their few tables.
