Family birthday brunch. I have to say the food didn’t seem up to previous standards, the lobster pot pie as well as other items were too cool as if they had been sitting for a long period of time. The noise level where we were seated was “very loud” and made it difficult to hold a conversation. Several items were continuously out whenever we went up and we were unable to get certain items.
Excellent evening love this place the waiters were excellent and also the food.
I have been to The Harbor House many times over the years. I have always loved the food, service and atmosphere. However, during our most recent trip, everything was "just okay." After making reservations a week in advance, we were first seated at "the chef's table." Which is code for nearly seated in the kitchen and in the middle of high traffic from serving staff. We requested to be seated elsewhere and the request was accommodated with minimal fuss. Service was friendly but limited in appearances to our table. The food was good but not inspiring. I really miss the Lobster Bisque pastry dish that is no longer on the menu. This is purely my perception, but our smart casual dress seemed to affect how we were treated. At check in, the hostess did not offer to take our coats but did so to the formally dressed dinner guests ahead of us in line. The lack of attention by our serving staff seemed to indicate minimal effort due to a perceived minimal tip expected by the staff. The manager did speak with us and attempted to make amends for the seating accommodations, which was very nice of him. I have greatly loved the Harbor House for years but I will have a hard time returning for our next rare date night out. Of note: the Churchill Oysters were fantastic.
Food & service were super. My only disappointment was I requested a table by the window when I made my reservation on line only to be told one may not be available when we checked in. We ended up sitting in the isle, not happy with the receptionist people, we even arrived 1/2 early. Good news was servers and food made up for it!
Birthday. Excellent food and Great service. The server over heard we had a few recent birthday and brought us a very nice complimentary desserts. I’ll be back for sure!
Filet was perfection but the Maine lobster was absolutely horrible. Main body was overcooked and chewy - soaking it in butter was only marginally better. BUT the meat in the claws was RAW. When I pointed it out to our server, she whisked the lobster away without so much as an apology to me. Just swept the whole thing under the rug so couldn’t even complain to the manager as the evidence was now gone. Could still taste the slimy raw meat in my mouth the next day. No better than being served raw chicken. It ruined my very special birthday celebration.
Love this place
We were a group of four and we thoroughly enjoyed our meal at the Harbor Houses. We very much enjoyed the seafood sample tower which arrived quickly with a broad selection of seafood samples. The service was impeccable both at the bar and in the dining area and all of the staff that we encountered during our visit were friendly and helpful. We will be returning sometime soon!
The views! Ambiance is lovely. Food is delicious (amazing oysters). Service was impeccable.
We were in town from Los Angeles for a funeral and had a table for 11 to visit with relatives before the services. It was perfect.
It was rainy and windy day, but food was really good and service was excellent.
I will bring my friends for next Tuesday for luncheon.
iwas upset when I asked the meat cutter if he had well done, he didn't even try to help me with a slice or nothing. very unsatisfied. why have a buffet server if his no good, the other bad thing waiters are good for asking for there tips but are lazy to bring you a soda or to pick up dirty plates. honestly im mad at this place for bad help. I know they wont do nothing about it but a bad review will help others no to eat here. also adults brunch is $45 not $40 how it states it in there page... this place is over rated
Food was excellent. Service was attentive. Mentioned in reservation we were celebrating a birthday and they made the evening special and included a birthday candle on the dessert. Fresh ingredients. Incredible seafood.
Very beautiful restaurant. The seating is less than desirable. Very small tables and stacked on top of each other. The food was delicious but I wouldn’t return do to the noise level and being stacked in each other.
You cannot beat the view shoreline is beautiful especially lite up at night. I had the swordfish which I’m not usually a fan of but it was outstanding. It gets a little loud in there for me- at times almost having to yell across the table to hear one another- wish there’s something they could do about the noise level. But overall great evening and dining experience!
The Greeter kindly found a favorable table after we expressed cocnern about a table that was in the main traffic pattern for the servers coming from the kitchen. She was pleasant and not upset by our request. Great food. People watching was fun.
Love this restaurant right with views of Lake Michigan and the art museum. Great food and sevice’
Had a great meal. Salmon was prepared perfectly. Many restaurants will over cook Salmon. Nice table over looking Lake Michigan.
Disappointing Ultra-thin Perch Filet! My wife has wanted to go to Harbor House for some time so we decided on a late lunch before going to the Art Museum. This was our first time at Harbor House, although we had visited the predecessor restaurant before current management and significant renovations. The ambiance is nice, and service was excellent; Diana was our server. The only problem was my ultra-thin Great Lakes perch filet sandwich. The sandwich looked substantial when served, with the length of the filet exceeding the bun; however, after cutting the sandwich in half I noticed that the filet was virtually nonexistent (see attached picture); the slice of American cheese was thicker than the interior of the filet. I can only compare the filet to a "pounded chicken breast," but pounded in excess to 1/8 of an inch, so that all of the perch in the breaded filet was forced to the outer edges. In total, there might have only been 3 ounces or less of perch in the filet. I was amazed that a filet that thin could be prepared with breading intact; and, I was appalled that the chef could serve a sandwich like that. I should have complained, but due to limited time I did not. Unfortunately, I now feel cheated since the price of the sandwich was $18 and our total bill for a disappointing lunch exceeded $50. We knew the prices were high, but we expected a high quality in the food.
Lovely from beginning to end. Staff was attentive, food was exceptional!
We had an incredible meal and experience at Harbor House. The oysters were delicious. We loved the scallops and crab legs. Overall, everything was great from start to finish. The staff was so enjoyable as well.
Still my favorite Sunday brunch, but due to the price, really more of a 'special occasion' brunch for us. I feel that for the price, my glass of 'champagne' could have been included, rather than an additional charge. I also wish there was a way to serve the crab legs still warm. I know they cool off rapidly, but they are much better warm. Others in our party had an issue with under cooked poached eggs for the benedicts.
I realllllly appreciated the staff being able to honor my request to sit in the back room...what a beautiful view and a nice way to celebrate a special occasion. Thank you so much!! Love the valet, the hostess, overall staff adds to the overall positive experience.
My husband and I celebrated our anniversary on Saturday. We had a wonderful time, the food was amazing and we felt so special. Thanks so much to our servers Brian and Mike, it was a memorable experience.
I always LOVE visiting the Harbor House. The view of the lake is spectacular. Very romantic at night, but oh so wonderful during the day when you can see the art museum which is nearby open up the flaps of the building.
We are really not seafood lovers, so we had steak and chicken options. Bread is delicious...salads are wonderful and fresh. Steaks cooked to perfection. My son-in-law had the steak and scallops and he really enjoyed his dinner. My son-in-law also had the creme brule and he loved every bite.
Previously I have been to dinner, and also I have enjoyed the Sunday brunch. The brunch prices is very reasonable and if you love seafood you will go out of your mind. Fresh, hot crab legs delivered to your table.
All in all....I LOVE HARBOR HOUSE!
Always good, but very crowded last time. Also, we requested a window table and they entirely ignored us, even though there were tables available, and we came early.
Oyster Fest was nice although it took a bit long to get the oysters we ordered.
Our server, Bradley, made our evening enjoyable and worth celebrating. On our first “night out” as a newly engaged couple, Brad welcomed us with a complimentary round of champagne. Our food was delicious and well timed as he took a conscious effort to ensure we enjoyed each course. The ambiance and music made our evening complete without us even noticing- making every moment count. We took advantage of Oysterfest and will definitely be back for more!
Overpriced for mediocre food — $60 per person is way too much for the overall dining experience despite the view.
Great view of the Milwaukee shore and skyline and outstanding food and service.
Phenomenal restaurant! The food, service, and atmosphere were all exceptional. You don’t have to go to Chicago to get world class seafood just go to this gem in Milwaukee. Highly recommended!
We mixed up our reservation (thought it was a different day) and the hostess found a table for us anyway. Then instead of our niece bringing her fiance, she showed up with her toddler. The staff totally rolled with it and both servers were friendly and gracious to us and the child. I was so grateful! The meal was wonderful as always - Harbor House is a favorite spot for any occasion.
We came for the oyster fest and the 1.50 oysters were out of this world. I had a fried clam appetizer. They were awesome, though not as hot, as I would have liked. There were more french fries served, with them, that I could finish. The clam chowder was wonderful, as was the coffee.
We seemed to sit a bit longer then I would have liked, between courses. The waitress was very friendly, though she seemed rushed. We were seated about 1:45...so I imagine she was recovering from the lunch rush.
Harbor House provides excellent service while serving high quality food!
It’s the food! Not cheap but worth it. Everyone knows it though. Oysterfest great!!
As always food was great and, Jack, our server always makes our visit a pleasure.
Never disappoints. Great food, excellent service, wonderful ambiance.
We took our daughter here for her 21st birthday. We were seated right away and the wait staff was on top of things. Ordered our drinks and meals shortly after. 2 out of the 4 meals were good. Mine the combo of the steak and lobster was just ok. Steak was over cooked for medium rare and my lobster and spinach was cool. Our son had a Lobster BLT and his lobster was very fishy tasting so he exchanged it for a cheeseburger. Unfortunately it came when we were all finished eating. In defense of the restaurant I did not complain about my meal so they could not make it right. I hate to complain and would rather just not go back and for the price we probably will not. It was a nice touch that our daughter received a complimentary dessert for her birthday. It was not very busy (Sunday evening) so I think they missed the mark on the food quality. My steak was tender and the lobster was good just fell short.
Excellent service by Alex! Food did not disappoint, as is typical with Bartolotta restaurants.
Excellent brunch. The salmon eggs benedict is my favorite, and the crab legs were so good. The views of the lake are beautiful, and the service is great.
Harbor House is one of our two go-to restaurants for special occasions and celebrations. The views are wonderful, the staff helpful, attentive, and prompt, the food wonderfully prepared and plated, and the atmosphere lively but not loud. The emphasis is on seafood, but the steaks are well-prepared, and on our most recent visit the tables around us all had at least one steak order. We don't drink, but the wine and beer lists are extensive. A great place for a nice evening out or a special event.
We were placed in our table very fast which was very convenient since our party included a baby and a hungry 8 year old girl. As soon as we were sitting my wife ordered a salmon from the kids menu for my 8 year old daughter, which was ready fast enough. My daughter just finished it literally in 5 min (which is unusual for her).
Cocktails were very refreshing and not too alcohol heavy. I ordered a half dozen oysters from the pacific Washington state bay and were amazing. My mom who is an oyster fan just loved those. Our entrees were amazing. Noise level was kind of high but we had a nice time. Definitely the best seafood place in Milwaukee with better service and quality compared to several places down in Chicago. This place is a gem!
