Dinner: Daily: 5:00pm - 10:00pm
2. Nearest Parking Lots: There are 2 lots available within half a block from our restaurant. One is located on Minna Street between 3rd Street and New Montgomery. The other is located directly across from Fang with entrances located on Howard Street between 3rd Street and New Montgomery as well as an entrance on 3rd Street between Folsom and Howard Street .
Poor service and food was okay, at best.
As much as I enjoyed mr fangs recommendations to set the meals for us, he ordered way too many plates for us, party of 3. The bill obviously reflected that which we were very disappointed in. It would have been nice if he checked in with us to make sure not only if we like the food but make sure the portions are correct. We’ve not only wasted money but also wasted so much food, which is a shame because they were good. Service overall could use a lot of work as we had to wait for our reserved table, never gotten our drinks refilled and had to flag down and deliver our bill to your staff so that we could get out of there. Food was great but everything else was not.
A local favorite. Peter and Kathy are terrific hosts.
Excellent food. Owner came over and took care of the menu for a group of 12, including excellent vegetarian options.
Not sure what’s changed since ive been here last.. not sure if Mr Fang was having a bad day... not sure if all his staff is new but almost everything about this visit was not good. We came in when it wasn’t busy. I knew it was going to get busy in a few minutes so I wanted to get our order in but Mr. Fang lectured me that my guests weren’t there yet (they were outside finding parking) and that it only takes a few minutes for the orders come out. Once our guests came in, I couldn’t get anyone to take our order for a full 30 minutes. He acted like we were annoying him while he took our order and he left in the middle of taking the order. This is not the same person I remember when we ate here last. I could hear him verbally reprimanding many of his staff throughout the night. Other than that, the food was ok... this experience definitely removes this restaurant from my recommend to friends list as it was an embarrassment to our guests.
I love Fang’s! The food is consistently outstanding and there is a nice variety of Chinese dishes.
Fantastic! One of the best Chinese meals I’ve ever had! I will be back and will tell all my friends!
The food was nonpareil, but some of the appointments were the worse for wear and tear. The hardcover menus dated to the Ming Dynasty; the covers were literally taped together, and the prices were handwritten beside crossed out earlier iterations. Not a good look -- which gave us pause to reconsider ordering. But we were glad we stayed.
Went for sunday brunch, Opens at noon. Food was good. Try the short rib!
Very good restaurant with wonderful service. They have good Chinese food. They are a pricey place though.
This is our go to restaurant in SFO.
We love getting to know the owners and their staff all are such beautiful people.
Let Mr Fang create your dinner for you if it is your first time.
We truly enjoyed the Japanese pumpkin pie belly and the blossoming tea.
Great meal with friends in the downstairs section which was quieter, and cozier than upstairs. Flavors are unique and refined, each dish with a distinct subtlety. The owner saw our large group of eight and took care of us without us even having to look at the menu. We had a chicken dish which you served yourself on a crisped rice ‘cookie’, very good. Then sautéed eggplant. A fantastic fish dish, the favorite of the table, was followed by a crispy beef dish. They also included a shrimp dish and of course, I almost forgot, the fresh pork bun starter, which was very good as well. Everything was excellently prepared. They even served a fried rice dish that was made at the table with a fresh omelette mixed in right before being served. The only knock on the food was that the beef dish, which was delicious btw, was slightly over cooked.
wonderful food and service; the owner will cater to all of the food desires and allergies/intolerances of the guests (including gluten free, no shellfish, no red meat, no mushrooms, yes eggplant, yes pork belly, etc... Price is reasonable. Flowering tea is delightful
Lunch on Friday afternoon was very busy, noisy, and smokey. We were seated immediately ordered quickly. The smoke coming from the kitchen was really bad when we first arrived, but lessened as lunch progressed. The pork confit eggrolls were really spring rolls and the confit was mushy and the whole thing drowned in a ton of a very tasty mustard sauce. Really not good. Happily this was the only misstep in an otherwise great lunch. The Eight Treasure salad was really vibrant, refreshing and crunchy. The salt and pepper fried fish with zucchini was hot, crispy, peppery. Yum. Shanghai soup dumplings also great.
Service is terrible...that makes it charming!
Great for business meetings and large groups. Love that you can just tell staff the dietary restrictions and they order for you!!! They have large spaces for big groups.
The three of us enjoyed the apple honey prawns, Veggie pot stickers (great texture), Salt and peppered white fish and the pumpkin and zucchini dish.
We loved Fang! The food is delicious - we walked in, had no idea what to order, and the owner took care of us without another word (beyond asking any food allergies we might have). Then the food deluge began.
First off, it was all great. We're in the middle of a Chinese kick, but thought the flavor and substance of the dishes were above a lot of the fancier places we've been recently.
Service was fast and attentive - our interactions were efficient bordering on brisk, which was perfect since we were starving when we got there.
Food was good but service was so slow... nice variety on the menu though.
Great food!!!! Highly recommend!
Awesome, creative Chinese food. Not the run of mill. Absolute recommend!
One of the best Chinese restaurants I have been to
Fang ordered for us and it was a feast of delicious plates of incredible variety and favors
Really incredible service and meal served by the owner himself! I felt me and my group were beautifully taken care of!
Food was only okay. Greasy, several people had upset stomachs after eating here.
Was in town for a meeting at the Moscone Center and went out for a later dinner with a friend. With a recommendation from another colleague, we went to Fang. We were told that is we went there with a group of folks, Mr. Fang himself could pick a fabulous meal for us. Since we were just two, we were looking at the menu and trying to figure out what to get. Mr. Fang noticed us and came over and asked us if he could come up with what we should eat. We eagerly agreed and he came up a with a fabulous menu. We had the house special beef, a fabulous seafood soup, pork buns and the house special fried rice. Everything was cooked perfectly and tasted great. Would definitely come back to eat.
Overpriced for what you get. Could be done a lot better. Service left a lot to be desired!
If you book a reservation make sure that it’s not too late because service and enthusiasm declines closer to closing. I had a party of 9 people for a birthday and it was apparent that our server did not have a lot patience for our group and rushed through the meal. The food was good which somewhat made up for our lack of service. Overall, would go again for the food and smaller groups.
The food was great. I went just before 5 and it was quiet and not busy.
Awesome food. The waitress ordered for us and it was fantastic. The chicken fried rice had the egg cooked at the table. pretty cool.
Fang rocks. Very reliable cool vibes set up. I love the trust me service and cool flower teas
I use Fang when I have a large group of people to take out to lunch. Mr. Fang always welcomes you and helps create a great menu of delicious options for you so you can relax. Their service is fast and courteous. I would definitely recommend Fang!
So disappointing. I made reservation for 15, appreciate the private space. We sat down and food just started coming. There was no communication (they hardly spoke English) about a fixed menu. They brought food out as if we were speed eating. It was like Panda Express. Gross. To boot it was $40 p/p plus appetizers. So it came to $1150 for that. I was entertaining customers and everyone was pit but I was so embarrassed.
Fang's was on my must eat at list. One of the chef's was on Chopped and the intro about the chef and the cuisine sold me. I was not disappointed, the food and service was fabulous.
Fantastic food. Low key dining room but so what. Food is Devine.
Couldn’t find anything without MSG. Meal was dripping either in oil or mustard
I love FANG and I get back here as often as I can. The food is superb and the service can't be beat.
Food was delicious! Service was lacking.
I made reservations 24 hours in advance asking that they seat us near a window and away from the kitchen and bathrooms. They sat us next to the kitchen and bathrooms-no window. We waited 20 minutes and a waitress showed up and put a karafe of water on our table, holding her hand over the opening and made no eye contact and said nothing. Another 20 minutes of waiting and they take our order. They got spooked by the diners in our party with food allergies. They messed up the order. They forgot our drink orders and part of our food order-despite asking twice. One of the diners at our table got sick (MSG). The bathrooms are FILTHY-dirty floors, overflowing trash cans, the soap dispenser is broken so the pump on the pump soap is black. I wish we could give reviews with zero stars because giving Fang one star on any rating category is a star too much. Ew!!!! Don’t go to this restaurant.
Great dinner. But the highlight was our superb waitress who really took care with everyone in our large group
