From humble beginnings in 2011, Noir has slowly developed a reputation for uncompromising quality and grown to include a beautiful bar and dining room upstairs, ideal for corporate and private functions.
Our kitchen led by chef patron, Peter Roddy, offers playful takes on regional French food, where exceptional produce takes center stage. A seasonal menu of outstanding Australian ingredients are sympathetically handled to create visually striking dishes of terrific flavour.
Dinner : Tuesday - Sunday 6pm-10pm
We had a fantastic time at Noir.
We selected the five course meal and really enjoyed it - especially the Spanner crab tortellini.
Great wine list too
Well laid our restaurant with comfortable seating and nice atmosphere. Reasonable menu selection with value 5 set course option. OK wine list. Efficient staff provided good service. Some great flavours across dishes and well presented food. Enjoyed.
Excellent food, wine and service at a reasonable price. Their Sunday Lunch also sounds fantastic and can't wait to give a try.
Enjoyed yet another meal at Noir. Whilst the menu features day to day ingredients, the dishes are always delicious and show an amount of respect and flair.
Wine list is also noteworthy and features many Victorian wines.
Great service. Loved our waiter who was incredibly knowledgeable. Good atmosphere and setting.
Excellent food in an unpretentious, welcoming setting.
Highly recommended, food was amazing, close to perfect, great service
This is none of my favorite places...every mouthful a delight...look forward to my next visit
We had the 6 course degustation and it was awesome. The best gnocci that I have ever eaten!
Fantastic food and wine menu, but perhaps a bit noisy if looking to do a decent conversation
The menu is short, yet amazing choices. The wine list is Not over priced. The waiting staff are very knowledgeable.
Great Restaurant, Great Service and Excellent Food
Exceptional food and service. A gastronomical delight why travel overseas to the best restaurants in the world when there is one in our own backyard. I relaxed in the beautiful Noir ambience and floated on the unfolding dinning experience. A grateful patron indeed.
Outstanding dinner and wonderful ambience, really enjoyed
The food is of a consistently high standard, the ambiance great and service friendly.
Come all the time. Love it. Seasonal menu was a bit seafood-heavy this season.
Seriously Noir is outstanding. My partner and I had the $55 tasting menu.. every dish was outstanding. Such ingenious use of unusual ingredients paired to create a memorable tasting experience. One of the best restaurants in Melbourne.
Loved all of it. Food was amazing as always and service was friendly and helpful. We will be back often.
We were welcomed in on a cold and wet night even though our booking wasn't for another half hour. The service was efficient and friendly if a little slower than wanted by some at the table. The food was fantastic in all regards except served size. The price was reasonable given the professionalism put in to the food. The only problem was the noise level caused by a large table (6+) of raucous diners. Oh well....!
Booked a table for my Dad’s birthday for four family members. The food was exceptional - we had the rockling pie, roast chicken and confit duck at our table and rave reviews all round. The staff were attentive and knowledgeable. Was a perfect evening to celebrate.
The food was excellent décor very good table service very very good and knowledge of food and wine was excellent
Great new find - very high quality food and cosy modern surroundings. Service was prompt but not quite as professional as it could be. Would definitely recommend.
A fantastic Sunday lunch! Beautiful food, good service and lovely champagne! Thanks for providing a perfect birthday celebration.
We had an amazing experience for our anniversary dinner and we'll definitely come back. Food, atmosphere, and great great service. Thanks again for our special night
Great place, Great taste, really interesting flavour.
There were 5 in our party, and we had the 5 course tasting menu. It was excellent. Every course was a treat - not one disappointed. And the quality of the food for the value was exceptional. All inner party were very impressed. Can't recommend this restaurant highly enough.
Excellent cuisine - delicious amuse gueule to start with - soo good in fact, we ordered another round! All mains were fantastic - fish pie served at the table was a great spectacle. Duck great, order all sides, brocolli was refreshing along side the rich duck fat potatoes. Shared all 3 deserts - soufle the stand out. And all for the price you'd pay at a gasto pub. Take me here any day.
interesting menu choices - and a great beaujolais.
the jerusalem artichokes on celeriac mash was memorable.
We went to Noir with friends for the Bastille Day special dinner which we thoroughly enjoyed. Each dish was delicious and we thought it was great value at $80per person. We will definitely remember Noir for Bastille day next year.
No hesitation to go again. This was my 2nd visit and standard still excellent.
Staff can do with some training in hospitality.
Oil on table was beautiful. Staff should have explained what it was.
Spoon left from a plate?
We shared entree. No extra plate given.
Desert cutlery too large.
Did not ask if we wanted desert wine or coffee/tea.
Table cloth would lift status and atmosphere.
We enjoyed our diner but you can do better. Hope this helps.
Very tasty food and wonderful service. Great place for a date night.
Superb food and service the flavours were outstanding and both me and my companion had a delicious meal
Sensational value and great food and service. We will be back!
We went there last Sunday and had the shared Sunday lunch.
Fine dining dishes at a reasonable price. Love the shared Sunday lunch menu.
Never disappointed with fine food and sevice. Been coming regularly for 3 years. Highly recommended for relaxing and cosy atmosphere.
The Sunday lunch tasting menu is great value but more importantly, the service e is excellent unobtrusive and respectful and the food is consistently very good. The tasting menu is just enough to not feel over full and the quality and consistency of the food is very high. We've been a few times and the we always say we have to come back.
Two of us arrived at 6.15pm and were seated in the window of the then empty restaurent. We decided to share the suggested tasting menu and a glass or two each of what turned out to be a very good French Malbec, and some sparkling water.
While we waited we were served some tiny but delicious hot bread rolls with pats of French butter, and rosemary and garlic olive oil for dipping.
And then the raw lamb dish arrived and our tastebuds were completely blown away. Easily the dish of the night. It was superb. An undertone of lemon zest and top note of dill in the creamy sauce, and anchovy, with explosions of sweet lamb and clean crunchy cucumber. Wow!
This was followed by a perfectly cooked and delectable ravioli of pine mushrooms and chestnuts.
Then a marron beautifully cooked and presented, flavoured delightfully, but tediously fiddly and hard to eat.
Then a generous serve of rabbit gnocchi with tiny cubes of roasted vegetables in a rich and subtle cream sauce.
The final dish was a persimmon soufflé with muscat icecream. The soufflé was incredibly light and melt in the mouth, with the faintest of citrus undernotes that was the persimmon. Neither of us is an ice cream fan, so aside from a spoonful to taste we left it untouched, but we both agreed it was a very nice icecream with a lovely and distinct muscat flavor
Our servers were understated and not intrusive, or showy, but were there with offers of more bread, wine, and water when needed. And the kitchen timed our dishes perfectly. I liked their overall level of care.
All told there was really only one down side, and that was the awful acoustics. When it was about half full we became unable to hear each other across the table without leaning in, and by the time we asked for the bill we could not hear each other at all. It felt like we had escaped when we got back out into Swan Street.
But even with that quite major noise defect, our meal was beautiful and I would go back again just for that amazing raw lamb dish.
Lovely food and wine. Good service. Cost restaurant.
Went for mother's day and the food and service were excellent. The set menu lunch on Sunday is very reasonable for the calibre of food
