Pre-show dinner. Headed to a play afterwards.
Too loud to talk but that it part of the energy. Waitress was spaced out. She couldn't answer basic menu questions. Took our order then vanished. Our enchiladas came fast. They were pretty good. We also ordered soups and salads. No show...10 minutes we ask where our waitress is and a manager appears. We tell him our concerns and he makes it all good and gifts us a free drink or dessert.
Our $52 bill was not worth the what we got. They enchiladas were appetizers.
Grateful to the manager but will not be visiting again.
Food was disgusting. Besides the guacamole, everything had been made hours earlier and left sitting under not very hot heat lamps... health department should be called because hot food should probably be hot.
Guacamole was made with unripe avocados. I guess the thought is if you beat an avocado into submission it will taste good?
House special margarita with patron - round one: good, clean tasting. Second: clearly made from mix with cheap tequila.
And the hostesses were useless and didn’t know what “we’ve got theatre tickets” meant.
The food and drinks were excellent, and the decor festive. Making a reservation was easy and they got us in and out efficiently before our Broadway show.
My wife and son and I were going to the theatre and needed a place to have dinner before the theatre. Iguana popped up in out search and it had good reviews and ratings so we tried it. The ambiance was very nice, a little louder than we’d have preferred but the food, service, decor and ambiance were really very nice. We enjoyed out meal, never felt rushed, were able to converse without having to shout and would highly recommend this restaurant.
I don't understand the high rankings. The food was far from authentic. It tasted like Mexican food you get from SYSCO or some other food service program. Don't waste your money here. Go to Toloache. It's a million times better and truly authentic.
Fourth time at Iguana. Always great service and food. The sangria is a must have.
We went to Iguana with a group of 6 (three couples.) Started at the beginning of our dinner we would like checks split by each couple. They told us no. Food was brought out that was initially not ours and they insisted it was. Turns out it was the table’s sitting two tables over. Waiters were not personable and did not care to take drink orders, we had to request every refill. Food was good but not worth the price or the experience.
I have been coming here for over 6 years... this was my most unpleasant experience. I really enjoyed my Avocado Relleno. The service was very slow for my party of 8. The other dishes were a bit bland. The guacamole was delicious as usual.
The DJ down stairs repeatedly lost the interest of the dancing crowd.
I was there to celebrate my best friend's birthday and they did not disappoint. The food was delicious and the service was outstanding. Mariachis came to sing happy birthday and they added that special touch to our night. The lounge area was nice and fun. Our bartender was attentive and the drinks were yummy.
I celebrated my birthday at Iguana on Saturday night and had a completely amazing and unexpected experience. The service is outstanding. All waitstaff are incredibly attentive--beyond attentive actually! There is always someone available to bring something extra to the table too. I ordered the enchiladas, which in truth were not very good. But they were also luke warm so I sent them back to be heated. The plate came back with a completely new meal and a note written in sour cream, "Sorry about that" on top--we were hysterical! Then they put a Mexican hat on my head while about 10 waiters sang happy birthday. A little while later I got another hat while the Mariachi band sang happy birthday. My family had Fajitas and Quesadillas which were good. The frozen Margarita was very good. The place is beautiful, with magical tiny white lights and lovely decor. All in all, the food was ok but it was a really fun place to go.
The food was great the service i love the dance floor and wasn’t to crowded
Thought the food and service excellent. The noise level was unbearable. However our waiter and staff did everything to try to make us more comfortable moving our tables twice. I would return however maybe at more off hours.
The staff or rather my waitress was unfamiliar with the menu so everyone ended up ordering the same - salmon. There are so many great dishes they should suggest top options. Unfortunate.
Iguana has top service along with friendly and helpful wait staff . Two people in my party had steak fajitas and they were cooked as ordered, medium rare along with many delicious side dishes and tortillas .
We enjoyed the Mexican music serenade which was at a pleasant volume so we could still have conversation.
Upsrairs , was a bar scene and dance floor that seemed to be heating up. But we were off to the theater next door Studio 54. Very convenient.
An excellent bite of authentic Mexican cuisine in midtown. Very attentive wait staff on consecutive uncrowded lunchtime visits.
Restaurant service, food and value was excellent. The only thing was the upper level (dancing floor) there is no sitting unless you reserve a table and consume upstairs. But, overall is a good and affordable place to have a good time.
Food was nothing special for an insane amount of money. Would only recommend coming here for happy hour pricing before 7pm.
Staff was friendly, accommodating, and professional.
Great guacamole, made at your table. Very nice selection of beers and appetizers which work very well as main courses. The noise level can be loud at times. The bathrooms are on the lower level, down a long flight of stairs which may pose a problem for anyone with mobility issues. The wait staff is very pleasant and courteous. Iguana's location makes it a great pre or post-theatre choice.
I was there on a Saturday for lunch and it was quiet ; only 6 other people there. On a Wednesday it gets lots of people for lunch. There's a club there at night for dancing and drinking.
We were there for both lunch and dinner on the same day - service was friendly and quick - best nachos ever. Really inventive features.
Fantastic service. Great food and drinks. Perfect for post/pre theater.
Very good food but expensive for Mex. Waitress was not friendly or attentive.
Vince Giordano is unique and outstanding! Dancers, musicians, singer, everything made us to travel in time. Incredible.
Mexican food was very good. Not woooooow...
This place looks so great from the outside, and is attractive inside as well. Unfortunately, we found the food mediocre and overpriced. We were disappointed.
Not worth it. Service and food was ok, nothing special.
We had the pre-fix dinner. It was a lot of food for a terrific price. Everything was just delicious. We especially loved the Halloween decor!
Our party of four had a wonderful time, drinking cocktails, ordering dinner, and listening to Vince Giordano‘s nighthawks, one of New York’s most treasured musical institutions. I recommend the upstairs at Iguana on Mondays and Tuesday nights when the nighthawks give you the best show business value in town: three hours of live music for a music charge of $20. This is an 11 piece orchestra, dressed in tuxedoes, that plays authentic Orchestra arrangements of 80 and 90 years ago with great style and fervor. Be sure not to request any song written in our own time!
After theatre dinner
Service was ok in general; the waitress showed little energy and interest; she forgot to serve us the dessert that came with the prefixed dinner menu. We had to catch a train so we paid and left.
I would go here again because the food was good and the place is nice.
Food was great and atmosphere was friendly and comfortable
Great service. Except that I made reservations online and indicated a surprise birthday cake for my friend. No one read the note on the reservation and I had to ask them ruining the surprise. Other than that, it was lovely.
The staff was polite and friendly and attentative. Food was delicious. Would be great before a show. We will visit again!
Wonderful! Great Staff and close to the show.
We have been a few times.
Good is good
Service is good
For a theater district place not expensive.
It’s my sons favorite restaurant.
First time we were there was on a school trip.
Our food was awesome! Because we didn't want leftovers, we had two entrees and one appetizer among the 3 of us. It was perfect. We were in town for Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, parts 1 and 2. Our dinner had to be sandwiched between the two performances, and we had plenty of time, never felt rushed, yet the attentive staff kept things moving nicely.
The place is nicely decorated, employees are very attentive and pleasant, our orders however were mixed up, the music was OK, we went on Friday night, I guess Friday is for a younger crowd.
Food was great! Our waitress was very attentive and recommended some great dishes. Would definitely eat here before a show again.
I came for the amazing hot jazz of bandleader-Grammy winner Vince Giordano and the Nighthawks, who perform at Iguana each Monday and Tuesday. But the Mexican food is delicious, reasonably priced, and served by a friendly, attentive staff - so the restaurant is a winner all around.
The food was delicious and the service was great! I would definitely go back! BUT-it was REALLY loud. So if youre looking for a place to have a good conversation, this isn't it.
