We enjoyed our meal at Fraunces Tavern. My husband had the New England Clam chowder and I had the Cobb Salad with Shrimp. Everything was cooked to perfection! Eating in a place with strong history was a definite bonus.

THE WORST EXPERIENCE Beginning with unfriendly staff who have a job to do to food that was sent back twice, plus the bill being wrong, this was the worst experience for my wife's birthday. The Fraunces Tavern has so much potential. And, it has several deep problems. It's a historic building and could invite people into the period with throwback fare (food and drink), doing so without making it kitschy. It has problems, though. And those problems cascaded to one party downstairs walking out and our party upstairs ending in tears. There's an identity problem. It could be a historic place. It could be a hip and cool place. It could be a place for the Starland Vocal Band to do a rendition of Afternoon Delight. The problem is, it's all of those mixed together COMBINED WITH unfriendly, inattentive staff members and food that needed to be sent back because it was delivered cold (literally, out-of-the-fridge cold). Staff members at the front, don't greet. They process. Bartenders are so involved with themselves, it took a lot to get their attention. The good news is that the Scotch Egg was delicious. A little expensive for a single egg, but it was done just right. The meals and the service were huge failures. HUGE FAILURES. My pappardelle came out cold, was sent back, and must've just been microwaved because it was only just warm and a shrimp tail from a bite I had in the first round was stirred back into the noodles. I had to seek out the server, then brought that to her attention. I asked for a different dish. The fish-and-chips is a good dish. The fish is done quite nicely and the portions are good. The fries could use some seasoning. Our server disappeared and I had to get up to approach other wait staff for help with food, place settings, and silverware. The odd vibe:pianist and sister singer in the piano bar did Starland Vocal Band renditions of songs that should've had a little grit. BAD EXPERIENCE TOPPED WITH BAD EXPERIENCE. DISAPPOINTING

Historic Fraunces Tavern resonates with the beginning of America. The food is current and basic...well prepared and fresh. Cooking the steak on the hot stone was a fun diversion. Attentive service and friendly suggestion of options were well done.

Fraunces Tavern is steeped in history and is worth the trip just for the experience. We hadn’t been there in many years and although the food and service are still very good the historical building looks like it has fallen on hard times and has not been preserved.

Love coming here but the quality of the food is uneven and the service very slow. Great atmosphere and great beers/whiskeys. Brunch was ok. One diner had a good experience the other’s meal was overdone to the point of being burnt.

horrible service and they will no longer have my business. the owner basically brushed me off when I had a legitimate complaint. I've seen it twice, loved it the first time, it ruined my anniversary dinner, and won't return.

Waitress needs more training. Got 2 out of 4 main course orders wrong. She was young so probably was in training. Forgot shrimp on one dish and served rare steak instead of well done. Then after having steak cooked longer, brought it out with the ice cold sides.

Really neat and historical location, however the restaurant needs to be careful so as not to get lazy and hide behind the historical location. The place is busy. That much is obvious. But it is never a good idea to rush customers through their meal; to be fair, start to finish we were there for just over an hour. Food is very good, however little details (like the tough onion skins that were in my clam chowder) can be sloppy. We had three different servers during our meal. The first one apparently did not know how to smile. She told us she was going on her break. The next one was with us for but a hot second. The third was pleasant but hurried.

We actually ate at the attached, Irish tavern connected to this place. There was a live band playing, Irish music a very happy crowd, an awesome bar, and excellent whiskey tasting menu. The servers were friendly. It was an easy place to spend a couple of hours and enjoy ourselves. We will definitely be going back. I especially liked that. My gin and tonic came in a Pretty glass just like in Ireland.

We loved the restaurant. The food was good, plenty of choices and good service. Good prices. The music they play is great, American standards. It is noisy, but should not be a deterrent. The restaurant is charming and old. Washington gave his farewell speech to his troops there. Although, I didn’t order it, the pot pie looked fabulous.

One of my favorite spots, especially on the weekends when there is live entertainment. The service, food and drinks are always reliable. The fish and chips, burgers and steak frites are all amazing. The brick chicken is a favorite. Be sure to sit in the tavern area for a more fun vibe versus the dining room.
