What Insiders Are Saying
One of the most well known restaurants in Chicago, and one that lives up to the hype.
Delicious as always! We always try to visit when we are in Chicago.
We went there for dinner with my friend visiting Chicago . The food was amazing and the atmosphere of the restaurant was great. Totoally recommend
Inventive and heavy. Nothing delicate about this barn food
If you are in Chicago you cannot leave without trying Girl & The Goat. The most delicious cuisine I have had in a very long time.
They make dinning into an art. What an amazing night of food and hospitality.
Enjoyed every minute of it, already made another reservation to come back.
Great, it surprised me. Different tastes and dishes that goes far beyond many great restaurants.
I’ve done all over the world.
This was one of the best restaurants I have ever eaten at. The total experience was exceptional. I will travel to Los Angeles when they open that location.
10 year anniversary
Great cocktails. Amazing food. Life changing dessert. Make your reservations as far in advance as possible!
Service was great, most of the food very good. The shrimp was delicious but very small in number and size. The wine was expensive give the vintage and source.
The food was nothing short of perfection. The service was outstanding.
Great service and delicious food!!!
One of a kind and experience- worth visiting at least once
We loved Girl & the Goat! The service was spectacular. The food was outstanding. Our waiter was helpful in guiding us what to order. We loved that we got to try 5 different dishes that was brought out in order of richness in each dish. So good! Would definitely recommend.
Excellent food. I led with that because food was amazing! Service as great. Very personable and patient. Attentive but did not crowd us. Ambiance was nice. The only reason I did not give it 5 stars was due to the volume if the guests in the restaurant. In their defense it was packed and it was only a Wednesday night.
Girl & the Goat did not disappoint. Literally everything we ordered was incredibly delicious. We ordered 6 plates and a dessert. It was so good that we couldn’t actually pick a favorite item off the menu. I highly recommend it, everything on the menu is a win.
Delicious from start to finish. Seated at the bar and received excellent, knowledgeable service. Bar staff worked together to keep our plates coming & space clear. Hamachi and sponge cake were the best but the short ribs & pork shank were right up there. Friendly, relaxed yet professional service. Fun atmosphere too. Bartender gave us equally excellent req’s for local cocktail places
Loved the meal. Expected nothing less
The food tasted good, but i'm not sure it's worth the cost. Also, we had a reservation booekd weeks in advace, we confirmed it the day before and still had to wait nearly 20 minutes for our table when we arrived.
Now I know why everyone raves about this place! The food was amazing, so tasteful and savory! You have to try it for yourself. Our server was great about suggestions. The seating is a bit tight in some parts of the restaurant though so plan on being in close proximity to your neighbors. 11/10 would do it again though!
I enjoyed Girl and the Goat more than anyplace else in Chicago, including 2-Michelin Star Acadia. Every dish I had was a hit. Not fussy or fancy, but flavorful, complex and delicious. The pig face, goat belly, and crispy duck tongue were all interesting and accessible. The service was friendly and perfectly timed with no hint of pretense. The atmosphere is like a great bar: casual, friendly, vibrant, and dark.
The staff was excellent and answered any questions we had, they were in good spirits and seemed to enjoy working there. We went for happy hour and grabbed a seat at the bar. Food was delicious and courses were spaced out perfectly. Can't wait to go back!
Amazing, creative dishes that are very well prepared. But service seemed rushed at times. And the noise level made conversation very difficult. It seems like they are more interested in turning tables than providing a great dining experience.
We went here for a 40th birthday. We've always had back luck getting a reservation within the next few months, but got lucky and got a 5:30 pm reservation. It seemed like it might be too early, but it was already busy by the time we arrived. The food was very good. I am a vegetarian and even found several items I liked. It was a great experience.
Maybe the best restaurant I have ever been to, everything from the drinks to the main courses to the desserts were spectacular. It is a bit pricey, but I don't remember ever being more satisfied with a meal. Absolutely worth the hype
Been to Girl and the Goat several times and this visit was, by far, my best experience. Seated at the chef's counter and the kitchen staff was welcoming and happy to provide recommendations of new items on the menu. Our waitress checked on this every 10 minutes or so, which was great, and servers were quick to replace dirty plates with new ones.
Very anticipated for our group of 4. The server encouraged us to try different things, some were good but some were just too different for our taste. The wine list, bread, green beans, peppers, desserts were great. Did not care for any of the goat dishes nor the pig face.
Our waiter, Chris, the cook line, and bussers all did an excellent job in making sure that our glasses were always full and food came out at appropriate times. Food was amazing as usual and will book again. Thanks team!
This restaurant and experience was outstanding. The food was great. My husband and I ordered a bread to start (SO good), a veggie dish, 3 meat dishes, and one of their goat dishes, right in the 4-6 that our waiter recommended. Everything was so good and unique that we decided against our original plans of going somewhere else for dessert and shared two desserts, both outstanding. On top of the delicious food, the service was incredible. I mentioned I'm pregnant to our waiter and he knew the ins and outs of what food had no-no ingredients in them and what he recommends, which I was shocked at! He provided suggestions for mocktails which made it even better. This place is very busy and popular for a very good reason!
Enjoyed trying different foods.
Waited a long time to finally get a reservation at Girl & the Goat. Overall there were some bright spots and some not so bright spots. The food was generally good - everything our lovely waitress Devon recommended was outstanding, but the things we picked ourselves were less so. The bread was great, the cauliflower and scallops were really delicious. The chick pea fritter dish was a waste of space on the menu - it was a nothing dish. And the short ribs were hugely disappointing. The highlight for me though was dessert - the sticky toffee pudding was party in my mouth, really outstanding. A few non-food items to point out are the noise level was so high that we were shouting across the table. Finally my husband came and sat next to me because we couldn't have a conversation. The wine pours seemed very meagre, and the food came so quickly and the service was so quick, it was almost like they wanted you in and out within an hour, which seemed a bit ridiculous for a Saturday night. We felt a lot of pressure from their staff. For example, we had not even finished eating our main course when the dessert menu was presented. Not good.
Loved it! I was packed when we arrived at 6:30pm but were seated right away. Great cocktails and the food was awesome.
Exciting! We celebrated our one year and it was super fun! Definitely try 4/5 dishes for two and get the chocolate says a me dessert! Total was under $100. Servers are soo nice and explaining.
Outstanding food. Very creative dishes with high quality, unique components. It is pricey, though. As with almost every "small plate" restaurant I go to, the prices over the past ten years have evolved too close to what a full size entree might cost while the portion sizes remain small plate. This wouldn't stop me from coming back, however, as the food here was unlike anything I've experienced before. I just wouldn't visit regularly--more likely for only special occasions.
Food was amazing and service was excellent.
It was expensive but definitely worth saving up for and “splurging”. Delicious.
This was our first stop on our visit to Chicago, and began our trip perfectly. The staff was friendly, the food and drinks were exceptional. Thanks for making our anniversary special!
