Excellent food! Excellent service! Will come back!
Other than the ambiance and the creative cuisine ( which was way too salty ), the waitress had an attitude that didn't necessarily appreciate; however the rest of the staff were very accommodating. I would give the food a five star if it wasn't for the salt level. Also, I don't like the inconsistent dining experience we have had there. We have been there four times and have two good meals and two mediocre at best meals...If you are vegan, you cannot eat there. Or it depends who you talk to? Once they said they would be happy to make me vegan food and then another time, they were rude and did not offer me any options...
So good that I would go back right away-flavorful-fresh-variety of choices. Fabulous Dinner. Cocktail was good too.
We had not been to Grit in some time and were very positively impressed. Excellent service. Bounteous and delicious salad. French onion soup. Perfect hand-made pappardelle pasta with rabbit ragu. We're eager to return soon.
Three of us had dinner. The poached pear in the salad was way over cooked. Two main dishes were delicious, the lamb chops and the brisket fettuccine. The third, the beef tenderloin was too rare and the flavors overly aggressive. One of us loved the pumpkin custard, the other two thought it bland and grainy. The apple cake was inedible: dry, flavorless and way too dense. So very disappointing!
After receiving a gift certificate for Grit... we made the plunge and had an amazing dinner.
From the moment we walked in, to the table service and the gracious hospitality when we were finished, this was by far the best Dinner experience we have had in Eugene. Our hostess and waitress left nothing to be desired and no stone unturned with unsurpassed service!
We will be back... and bring friends....

The bread and cheese tray was magnificent. Staff was attentive but not invasive. Food was delicious.
Grit is fantastic, every time.
Grit is always a treat, the servers are friendly, the food is flavorful and served hot and the atmosphere is the best. Come to the best in the Whit
After rushing for 2 hours after work on Friday to make our 8pm reservation, our table wasn't ready and we had to wait 20 minutes. What's the point of s reservation then?
Grit is my go-to place when I'm visiting Eugene. I've been there at least six times--and it never disappoints.
Prix Fixe was beautifully done. Great series of interesting plates.
We travel and dine out often and Grit is one of our favorite restaurants in Oregon.
People were nice. Food was good not great.
Potato leak soup was bad halibut and steak were excellent. Short Ribs and polenta were ok but not great. Frizzy salad was disappointing be cause little dressing and cheese and 95% frizzy. It was a plate of frizzy. Nice Ambiance nice service good wine work on the food
Always something delicious and unexpected. Superb service, cozy interior, nicely paced meal delivery. Look forwards to all future visits!
Perfect place great food
Try the risotto and the fried tomatos
Excellent food and likely one of the dining gems of Eugene. We went for a date and went with the fixed four, definately would recommend. As wonderful as the food and wine selection was I would have liked more attentive and less rushed service. Plates were cleared too fast and I would have liked to hear more about the wine and food choices. Totally make me sound very pretentious, but I do think the restaurant could up their game and up their overall ambiance by improving this.
Nice menu with excellent variety. $300+ tab including tip. Good wine. Food bland across the board. A little salt and lemon to brighten things up would have gone a long way. Otherwise, very well executed.
Grit Kitchen and Wine is a great restaurant in the Whitaker area of Eugene. The food is excellent and locally sourced. It has a cozy dining room with two outdoor patios. The wait staff are attentive, and the mood of the restaurant is good for a quiet evening with dinner companions. It is one of the best restaurants in Eugene.
We came here with a party of 8 to celebrate a birthday with family and were thoroughly pleased. Everyone in our party was happy with their choices. The atmosphere and the service was great. It was a wonderful experience.
Great service and food!
Excellent staff. The food was very seasonal and full of flavor! Wine List has been updated, but suggest more mid-priced wines, particularly from Italy, Spain, Austria. We have patronized many times and always endeavor to dine here when in Eugene from the Bay Area. Well done.
Excellent dinner celebrating with our son and daughter.
We had a great experience, our first time here. The staff was very friendly, the food was outstanding and not over priced. We sat outside, a great spot in a vibrant neighborhood. Recommend!
We started with three appetizers for the table. Buñuelos were good, if not terribly authentic, still tasty as were the green beans and eggplant. Everyone loved their entrees. The meat here is magic. Always so tender by most restaurants standards, and we all raved about the upsidedown pair cake with bourbon caramel. I love how their desserts hint sweet, but are not overly saccharine. Both my friends and my cocktails were beautifully presented as well as a delight to drink. However, both our mom's had separate cocktails and they both fell short on flavor. Could barely capture the fruit or the alcohol taste in either, was like drinking lightly flavored water, which was sad because everything else was spectacular including our service.
Absolutely AMAZING! The food was beyond wonderful, as was the atmosphere, and staff!
Great neighborhood restaurant with excellent food. Enjoyed the duck entree as well as appetizers.
Excellent food and cocktails. Nice outdoor seating when weather permits. However, even a relaxed dinner should not take 2.5 hours! It took about an hour to receive our entries after the first courses were served. No explanation was given for the delay, and when we expressed our dissatisfaction with the long wait, the server said he would take it up with management. But we received no response from either the server or management and no compensation for the unexplained delay (other than "we were slammed"). So although we enjoyed the food and ambience outside, we will likely try someplace else next time.
Incredible service, great wine and cocktail list, and without question the most delicious meal I had in the eight days I was in Oregon. My girlfriend and I travelled all over the state and ate here on our last night and it was hands down the dining highlight of the trip. If you are in Eugene you have to eat here. The inside of the restaurant is pretty small so make sure you get a reservation ahead of time if you want a seat inside. They have a fairly large outdoor dining area however if you prefer dining outdoors. I honestly had one of the best meals I have ever had here, check it out.
My wife and I went to Grit to celebrate our anniversary. We started our meal with two delicious cocktails: a Kentucky Shrub and a Devil's Garden. For our food, we shared a fixed four and ordered several other dishes that looked good off the menu. It's really nice that they don't require everyone at the table to order the prix fixe like a lot of other restaurants. Our favorite dish off the regular menu was the peach, pistachio, arugula salad which was as refreshing as jumping in to a pool on the hottest day of summer. Everything on the fixed four was outstanding. We were a little hesitant about the zucchini fritters but they were delightful. The albacore (the main dish) was a generous portion and was perfectly cooked.
The only downside was an unexplained 45 minute delay between our 2nd course and the main. We like long, slow dinners, so this didn't bother us too much, but others might have found this more frustrating. The waitress was apologetic but didn't explain what was going on. She did top off my wife's wine pairing for the course after my wife asked though since since she'd finished it during the 45 minute wait for the food.
The fixed four was a bargain, wine pairing worked. The food was delicious and interesting. We sat outside and it was just a beautiful night. Our waiter was also excellent.
This the best food in Eugene!! Creative food and local Ingredients !!
I thought it was delicious! The only thing was the okra being too fibrous to eat! And it was probably 45 mins before we got our plates...which I was told, was the Duck specifically, which is fine, I didn't know, but I think it may have been good to hear from the waiter that the duck takes a while! Thanks!
Restaurant needs to invest in AC. Additional bar tender would be a huge plus waiting for 20 minutes for two glasses of wine is bit excessive. Food is all amazing and very creative, portion are large.
it was hot as hell and the inside was much hotter than outside. our waitress was stellar. the wine selection was good. I thought the food, particularly the braised duck and dumpling dish was bland. I will come back again to be fair with my assessment. came here on a first date so a lot was riding on it.
the service was top notch! Nuvia, our server was awesome! the food was very good and as advertised. The kitchen and the wait staff were on the same page, our apps., salads, and main courses all came in a timely fashion. we had tome to enjoy and finish one before the other arrived, but did not have to wait and wonder if the next course was coming. I would put it in the top 5 best places in Eugene to eat.
We had probably our best meal of the Summer this past week at Grit. The food and drinks were top notch, and the service was absolutely outstanding. We couldn't have had a better time!
Alway amazing food and new ideas. Grit has a knack for taking classics and elevating them in new and creative ways that will make your taste buds sing!
Food was great and they had gluten free options. They also had a gluten free dessert but it was not dairy free.
Food and service was good. The AC was overwhelmed on a hot day and the dining room was very warm.
