Unfortunately, this was the last day of service, Ponty has lost its lease. Their Harlem location however, is still open. We both ordered Lobster Benedict & a glass of Sauvignon Blanc and it was satisfying. We're sorry to see them leave the neighborhood.

Grilled octopus with risotto was good though salty. But the rest was not impressive, all salty, lamb chop over cooked. Tried African spiced steamed mussels and soft shell crab. A bottle of white wine left on a table, not in ice .bucket . Disappointed.

Awesome customer service. My sister thought the smoked salmon (which was like lox style) was something different (actual thick cut salmon) and the waiter brought the chef out. He exchanged it for something she wanted and although what was brought out wasn't what she asked for (and we made that know), it was still delicious. For the confusion, we were gifted a cheesecake to share that was out of this world! Please try the wings because they are soooo delicious! We will be back! Waiter was so nice and chatted with our table.

I love the Ponty Bistro menu but the food can be uneven. I had the mussels, which were great, but my friend ordered a salad with so much wilted lettuce it had to be sent back.

My friends and i met here for lunch and everything was delicious. We had the african chicken stew with rice which was amazing, the bronzino which was awesome and the stuffed flounder with crab meat. We enjoyed everything and left stuffed. Totally recommend.

Bathroom was very dirty to the extent that I had to ask the staff to clean it. Service was extremely slow, with the place only a quarter full on a Sunday night. Food was otherwise really good.

We arrived for our 11:15am reservation (we were bringing a baby in a stroller and wanted to make sure they had space for us) and we were the only people in the place. After 10 mins we were told that the chef wasn't there yet, so it'd be another 15 mins before anyone could start cooking our food. When the food did arrive it was very nice. We half expected to not be charged for our coffees as an apology for the wait, but there they were. We even got charged for an extra coffee. We won't be returning and would advise others to find better alternatives in the area. With so many options, it's a waste of time and money to go anywhere that isn't better than average.

One of our favorite restaurants. Always dependably good food, good service, and ambience. The mussels are always my go to either is an appetizer or main dish. All the dishes that we have ordered are prepared, presented, and taste wonderful. I highly recommend Ponty Bistro.

We ordered Senegalese specialties and were blown away by the richness of the spices and the quality of the food. The Moules Africana (muscles appetizer) was a large bowl filled with delicious muscles, a rich broth with garlic, onions and other vegetables. It was served with pommes frites and I ate almost half of it even though I usually don't like muscles. Our entrees were served expeditiously and looked delicious. We had the Poulet Yassa, which is the house specialty as we were told. A roasted chicken served with another vegetable stew on top and with rice. I enjoyed the Vegetarian Plate which was a very delicious stew of vegetables (including bok choy) in a savory, curry based sauce. The vegetables were perfectly cooked and the sauce made it a memorable meal. This entrée was served with a tasty couscous. This is not the usual excuse for a vegetarian entrée, but an expertly prepared dish that would make any carnivore love vegetables. The third entrée was a special Salad with fish and was just as delicious as the rest of the meal. Unfortunately, we were so satisfied with the main dishes that we didn't try the desserts. The staff was very knowledgeable, helpful in describing and selecting the dishes and friendly. This was an early dinner (Easter Sunday) and the restaurant atmosphere was quite. The restaurant is small and tastefully decorated with touches of France and Senegal. We ate here before and it fills up quickly at more popular hours and I would recommend reservations. Will gladly go back and enjoy their food again.

I have dined at Ponty Bistro with both large and small groups of friends and family and on every occasion, the food and service have always been excellent. During this visit, I and my dining companion shared the delicious large artichoke salad as an appetizer. Both of us ordered the very tasty chicken tagine entree which was served with a vegetable couscous. For dessert, we had profiteroles. Everything was freshly made and the portion sizes were large for all three courses. The wait staff are always courteous and very accommodating.

Came here with a large group on Saturday. The mussels and wings are a must but the fish wasn't the best. Also, the bottles of wine are fairly priced. I'd go back, but wouldn't go out of my way to eat here.

Another wonderful meal at Ponty Bistro. I am so in love with their chicken that I tend to stay with that, but this time my husband and I both tried specials. His bouillabaisse was absolutely delicious and chuck full of seafood. I will have to take his word for it since he was so enraptured I did not even get a bite. I decided to go for the steak since it was a ribeye. As the waiter indicated, it was worth it because of the unique rub seasoning and sauce that was used. Again our waiter's suggestion we opted for dessert - a chocolate fondant with vanilla ice cream. Superb!! And we are very particular about our chocolate.

The cuisine is French-African so I ordered French onion soup. Unfortunately it wasn't worth the calories. My salad was also ok but the Dakar chicken wings were crispy, spicy and delicious. I would go back but just order apps.

The striped bass special was fantastic. We love African food, so that's what drew us to Ponty Bistro. I wouldn't say the dishes are very African--more French. But nevertheless we enjoyed it. Had a bit of a language barrier with the server, which made for a couple of awkward moments.

Love this restaurant! I have eaten here many times, and I always enjoy the food. This time I had the Bouillabaisse, but I have not had a bad meal here! Interesting flavors, always well prepared. Not that convenient for me to get there, but it is still one of my regulars.

Was meeting an old friend who lived in Africa for years and this seemed like the perfect choice. The food was good, the service was attentive and it was not very crowded at lunchtime so the noise level was low. A great neighborhood gem

So I wanted some authentic African food, so I found this gem on Yelp. It is a bit of a hole-in-the-wall, but I must say it was a terrific find! My server did misunderstand me when I wanted to order "Poulet Yassa" and instead he brought out "Poisson Yassa" (my French is horrible apparently). I can't knock him for it because it was absolutely delicious! The drinks are also very tasty. Highly recommend!

Great food, and service is usually good but this time around, the server was bad. We felt rushed to order and the server got the bottle of wine wrong. Then when he got the right one, he didn't even pour a taste first before pouring the entire bottle into 4 glasses! Service was a disappointment, but it was first for us - so, maybe he was new.

Pointy Bistro serves very uniquely spiced foods. The cuisine is French and African. The ingredients are fresh and the chef combines flavors of West Africa, France and the Mediterranean. I have never been to Senegal, however some menu items refer to Senegal with respect to food preparation and spices. There is great variety of dishes on the menu: Fish, Meat, and Poultry. It is absolutely amazing how the chef fuses spices and flavors. I have never had a meal I wasn't satisfied with at Ponty Bistro. To top it all off, the wait staff is friendly, and know the menu quite well. There are two Ponty Bistro restaurants; one in Gramercy the other in Harlem. I have only eaten at the Gramercy location.

The Fondant was the best I had in NYC... the food was definitely a good surprise. First time there and will be back. Nice service too. And the menu offers a nice choice of dishes, especially for NYC (not only the French classics)

Surprised I had never heard of this place, the food was amazing, great portions, and reasonably priced. I had the Risotto and it was simply great. The location does not have great decor but they make up for it in quality if service.
